GoogleI had dealings with Sykes-Moore when my mum unfortunately passed away suddenly, as she was one of their tenants. I felt that there was little empathy from Corbett. We were given 1 week to clear the house, that my mum had lived in for 10 years, or we had to pay £1200 rent. There was no compassion when we asked to stay just one more week to allow us time to go through everything. We were told we could only stay longer if we paid the full amount of rent.
I also found communication to be poor, apart from after I sent an email with my complaint. I managed to get a reply straight away then. Where I was informed they didn't know the process or their own procedure of what happens when a tenant dies and that they were short staffed!!

Hi Rhiannon,
As mentioned on our emails we were sorry to hear of your loss and passed our condolences onto you and your family. We did want to send flowers to you but you didn't want to give us a forwarding address so we couldn't do this.
We did not give you 1 week to clear the house and leave. We advised you that, as sad as the situation is, rent is still due however we tried to be as flexible as possible and we would refund you any days rent that were not used if you left earlier than the full contractual month. You declined this. Keys were dropped back a day after the rent was due however we waived the days rent that was due, trying to be as helpful as possible.
Other than trying to be as flexible as possible on the rent, which is still legally due until we got the keys back with vacant possession, I'm not sure what more we could have done.
I do apologise for the delay in responding to you at the time, as mentioned we were short staffed at that time but we're back to normal now.

From my first enquiry, to completing on the property; nothing has been too much trouble for Erin, or her colleagues, at Sykes-Moore. Every query I had (there were a lot of them) was answered quickly and professionally, but also personally. Erin was quick to build a rapport with me, and did everything she could to facilitate me. First of all they are not lazy and could easily have followed the other agents and estimated our house for a quick sale, they gave an honest and considered valuation based on what they thought they could achieve.
