The team at Douglas Allen have been very professional and extremely friendly and helpful in getting a sale on our property. Ben, Dale and Monique have always been there for us to help with all aspects of the sale. Nothing ever seems to much for them. We live in Brentwood and their knowledge of the area and prices was second to none. I must also add that although very professional it also felt like being with a very friendly approachable team at all times. I really would recommend Ben and his team. Thanks for all your help guys.

Right from the first time I went in to see Maria at the Walthamstow branch where she is the manager was very friendly, polite and professional, she came to value my property and left me to make my decision without any pressure.I decided that Douglas Allen would be best to market my property because of their professionalism, write up and photos, the house I had already seen online was also listed with them and I said to Maria right from the start that I had my heart set on that house.The house was going through probate but Maria kept me up to date with how that was proceeding, and said she would do all she could to get me that house, and she stuck to her word which i appreciate.As well as Maria, Ben and Scott, were also friendly and professional whenever I went into Douglas Allen and when they came to my house to do viewings. I have also dealt with Laura and Andrew on a regular basis who have also been very professional and helpful at all times.Its all in the final stages now and i am very happy with the service received.Thank you, Regards Danny

It was going so well until it wasn’t

It was going so well until it wasn’t. I signed the contract in November 2020 & once I had reviewed the estate agency costs & the legal fees. I was told I would also have to pay a refundable £25 deposit for the legal fees. The legal fees quoted on a Douglas Allen headed pamphlet was *£695 for a property selling at the price it did. The * referring to additional fees if it were leasehold etc. I was instead charged £775 basic, which I raised before completion & spent endless time ringing & chasing the branch staff about. Always being promised calls but aside from 1 instance which unfortunately went to voicemail I didn’t receive. I was told it could be resolved after completion & would not affect the completion & on the return of the branch manager that week it would all the resolved once & for all. The staff member working at the branch covering in her manager’s absence couldn’t grasp the situation & kept emailing my solicitor, confusing matters as it was Douglas Allen that quoted the fees & asked for the £25 deposit, rather than calling me back as promised by other staff, to discuss. She also had never heard of the £25 refundable fee. Thankfully despite no paperwork I was able to prove this transaction by contacting my bank & requesting the statement showing this payment. On the managers return I hoped it would all be wrapped up quickly. The manager has given me assurances & called when promised but now it has all gone dead. The manager has emailed twice this week asking if his managers have called me yet. Which they haven’t. There seems to be no way to contact customer services, only a central sales team. I have contacted the central sales team too, to escalate the situation & there is never a manager to hand. Any time you call the manager is in a meeting or out on a break. You are always told they will ask them to call you, it never happens though. Up until this point I had been impressed with Douglas Allen. Now, I wouldn’t use them ever again. It’s a headache no-one needs, less so when dealing with health issues, which the local branch are aware of. So disappointed.
