Not worth one star

For would be buyers, first come and look at the joke of a housing development called Manor Court Cossington, 10 years on and the houses that have scaffolding on them because of structural defects. This company should be investigated into as soon as possible from the Directors down to the workforce.Your reply to my review is making the assumption that I have a problem with the scaffolding. My problem is the reasons why scaffolding has gone up on ten houses to date. Structural defects include roof truss tie in straps to gable walls, in a number of cases fitted wrongly, also problems with coping stones to gable ends, our ones were in an independent surveyors views, were of the worst he has ever seen for poor workmanship, when our coping stones were removed, inferior fixings were used. There were a number of cracks that appeared in the stone buildings, these were repaired with helical bars installed with epoxy grout. The overall workmanship of the stonework is of a very poor quality, this is a specialised skill more so than straight forward brickwork. The people employed were not of sufficient skill, and the site supervision was not strict enough to detect this.I am informed that one of the site foreman has now become a director of your company which does not bode well for the future if your company. I will now touch on our particular house which from the start of moving in, the staircase had movement and was found once again due to inferior workmanship had been installed, this had to be re glued to ensure no further movement was detected. The poor quality of movement around the windows and the sills plus the inferior mastic that was used has resulted in unsitely gaps where the mastic is coming away from the wall or the frame. The first floor, when walking on it creak and groan, we were told they were only stuck and no mechanical fixing was used, it sounds as though we are living in a cottage of hundreds of years of age instead of a house, given all the faults I have mentioned is still only eleven years old. So as you can clearly see, my concern is not that daily more scaffolding goes up on this development but why it is going up.From the very start of our concerns, and Strongvox coming and inspecting the roof and coping stones told us there was no problem, it was, and I quote COSMETIC.In all it took almost three years before work finally began on our roof.If , the directors of Strongvox have doubts about the authenticity of this, take a look at the copy of OUR surveyors report which we sent to you, which thereafter wheels were put in motion and work began on our house. What an abysmal reply from Strongvox, I have noticed on your reviews that people who feel they can only give you one star do not even get a reply from you, that tells me a lot about the type of company you are, great long replies to people who say how wonderful you are, but to anyone who dares to say anything against you, you have no reply. I can only say what, in my experience,I have gone through in buying a house from such a company as yours. Here we are again almost five years when we started to have serious concerns about our house and its defects, we once again have problems with our roof. It’s been repaired twice now, each time no affect at all, in fact the cracks have opened up along the coping stones worse than they were before, to date 2025 we are waiting for yet another inspection to see what is causing the movement. This has turned out to be an absolute nightmare with no help at all from Strongvox, what an absolute sham of a company.

Everything went wrong

Everything went wrong. All the houses at Paddons Farm have many defects, many promises to fix........nothing happens. Strongvox take your money, promise Everything....deliver nothing. Avoid at all cost, worse than Barratt Homes. Worst financial decision ever made. No wonder they went, or almost went bust about 12 years ago. Umm, if they can't sell the shoddy houses....they will probably sell to housing associations. Do NOT buy at Paddons Farm, you will lose money and buy a wreck. A very sad shame, so much promise.....that doesn't deliver

Strongvox has a robust policy for de-snagging new homes, the details of which are contained within the handover pack our customers receive when they move in. In response to your claims about our Company ‘nearly going bust about 12 years ago’, you’ll remember the Credit Crunch and subsequent financial crisis. The fact that our Company survived that period, when so many of our competitors did not, is actually a testimony to our commitment to our staff and customers. We would be very keen to discuss and resolve your concerns with you, so if you are unable to leave reviews using your name, please do contact us directly and we will be happy to address specific concerns regarding any of our homes.

Fabulous Experience

We recently moved into our new home at Cricketer Farm, having had a couple of nightmare dealings with two other developers, Strongvox have been a pleasure to deal with, especially Kate and Laura in the sales team, Everything from reservation to completion has been great we have been kept updated, watched the build progress and we completed two weeks after the initial anticipated date, the house being complete just waiting for final kitchen bits and sign off. Whenever we asked something we got a prompt reply, would have liked more info of possible options some we didn’t realise we could have until too late but that doesn’t take away from the overall experience. We haven’t had much regarding any snags nothing my husband didn’t just sort of the spot, such as the shower missing a screw so it was loose. All in all a lovely quality build and the plot is as per the plan (one previous developer moved the boundary on us after we reserved hence why we pulled out of that one another just didn’t build any further on the house for months) This was a totally different experience and we are very happy in our new home. Would look to buy again with Strongvox, but then we’re not planning to move for sometime yet. Lol.

Lovely looking home but under the skin…

Lovely looking home but under the skin the build quality is really lacking.Sadly despite the usual customer focused claims the after sales once they have your money is really quite poor. Some 2 months or so after moving in we are still finding issues and still having to chase to even get a reply on some points outstanding from day one.So now 4 months in and an update. Barely any traction and as I type a home full of tradesman for 2 weeks and multiple admissions of our “show home” being anything but a show home and overall a really poor finish. It looks more like a building site with most of the house still needing redecoration. It is a shame I cannot post pictures!Update 3 and things seemingly get worse. Our “show home” is everything but show. Worrying is the number of trades people telling us the house is full of poor quality work and basic errors. As we stand our show home work has ceased after two weeks of remedial work because in truth it now looks worse and we are left with a dust ridden mess. Having been promised a response as to how this will be rectified we sit here a week on still waiting yet again. With so much work to do and our home a complete mess it makes us so sad. Promises promises promises and no delivery!

Be VERY careful when dealing with…

Be VERY careful when dealing with Strongvox, as they can't really be trusted. After 2.5 years we're still waiting for everything to be fixed and both staircases were fitted incorrectly, they wanted us in a hotel for over a month while they fitted two new ones. More issues below: - They knew we were using Help to Buy and let us submit the application when they didn’t have funding. I could let that go, but worse was that they lied and told our mortgage advisor they had the funding when they didn’t. So, he submitted the application again only for it to fail. We then had to complete a new application, as you can’t use the same one. - We were told to pay £4,000 more than we’d previously agreed on the flooring because of their disorganisation. - Some snagging issues are marked as ‘closed’ without being fixed, nor telling us, they just ignored them which is very disrespectful. - Both staircases were fitted incorrectly during the build but signed it off anyway and hoped we wouldn't notice (we were told by one of the first site managers). They kept delaying this and ignoring us, hoping we'd give up. - Fire doors throughout the house had gaps that were too large to slow the spread of a fire, yet I have them on record saying that they’d do it when the house has settled after a year. So, that means we were not safe in a fire until they decide to replace it in their own time, which ended up taking them two years. Who cares if anyone dies in a fire, right? Other issues - Terrible communication from start to finish and non-existent in a lot of cases. - Major snags took two years to fix, some still remain. - Drawn out sales process needing to confirm tiles, kitchen cupboards, carcasses, end plates, cupboard inserts, splashback, handles...you name it, one, at, a, time. - Built-in wardrobes were an option but they didn’t tell us. - We were told that we could choose any of the Karndean flooring from the website, so we paid for some samples only to then be told that we couldn’t have what we’d chosen. - They would never commit to a completion date, right up until the final week. Not great when you have to give your landlord a leaving date. - Bathroom tiles were fitted incorrectly. - Misaligned staircases were from “shoddy workmanship” apparently. - There were a number of snags, which you’d expect. However, there were a few issues from sloppiness, such as the dishwasher not working, poor plumbing, and outside doors not locking. These should have been obvious during their ‘inspection’, so we were disappointed to have to sort these out after moving in. Once they've taken your money they don't really care, they ignored a lot of emails and if you call they just tell you the same "we're working on it" line every time. They’ve won awards for customer service, yet we were never asked to take part.

We would like to thank Dominic, Tony and all the team for doing such a great job. Strongvox are a good quality builder and we are so pleased to be in our new home. Ok houses, but little or no interest in supporting customers after completion

Saturday morning and life is good in our 12-13 month old Wedmore Grange Strongvox home. Until we find we can't get into our manual opening garage door. Our only access is from the outside, so bit of a dilemma! Quick internet search suggests it may be the handle mechanism is jammed. Numerous sites saying don't force it, it's a job for an engineer. No problem, I'll pop to sales office onsite, explain, and get an approval to go ahead with using a call out service to gain access. This is where my morning goes wrong. Is the salesperson interested? No. Can they give me approval? No Do they offer any kind of assistance? No Might they be able to call someone to get approval or advice? No What should I do? Contact customer services on Monday. That is, you the house purchaser to contact them, since I'm not going to assist you in anyway. And, I also don't have any phone numbers to contact anyone to see if I might or how to help you. Remarkably, I am all alone in this little site office with no means of external communication. Oh, and also I don't care if you can't get into your garage, not my problem. Said salesperson may not have been able to do anything, but what is really disappointing here is the lack of understanding, empathy and willingness to do anything at all. Even if just - there really is nothing I can do right now, even though I appreciate how frustrating and inconvenient the situation is. There is also no one I can call to get advice, until Monday (even though when you bought the house on a Saturday I was able to ring finance director to approve your offer...), BUT I will take this problem on for you now, and not leave it entirely in your hands. I will, somehow, ensure customer services contacts you first thing on Monday to hopefully resolve as quickly as possible. Come on Strongvox. Enable your staff to want to solve problems, give them the tools to solve problems, enable them to help your customers. Above describes one particular incident Saturday 18 June 2022. But equally I could have related others. It would seem Strongvox very good at the sales process, but not good or interested in assisting their customers once you've moved in. Overall, disappointed Monday morning update - good initial experience with Strongvox Customer Care. Voicemail left with them just after 8am, and just after 8.30am they called back, and we have agreed a resolution whereby Strongvox will contact their contractor, and request engineer visit to assess and fix ASAP. On this occasion I felt I was listened to, my issue understood, and the staff member was taking ownership of the problem. Strongvox - the moral here is it's not the "fault or defect" that causes issues (most of us accept these things do happen), but the way in which customer interactions are handled and resolved. Overall, much less disappointed!

Excellent Service and Great Quality Homes

We bought a secondhand Strongvox home just over a year ago, and the house itself is absolutely fantastic, really well built and clearly of high quality. Recently, we wanted to put in a small home office in the garden, which required consent from the management company. Strongvox are in the process of changing the appointed managing agent due to ongoing issues with the current one, and because of that, they stepped in directly and resolved our query within hours of us reaching out. It was a real relief to deal with a developer who takes responsibility and acts quickly to support homeowners, even those who aren’t first-time buyers of their properties. Their fast, helpful response saved us a huge amount of time and stress. Genuinely impressed, thank you, Strongvox!

After sales customer care review - positive experience

We completed on our new home in Limers Lane in September 2025, and reviewed our positive experience with the sales team and on site builders. 5 months on we are pleased to say that we have continued to be impressed with the responsiveness of the Strongvox customer service team. Having never purchased a new build before we were unsure of how proactive the customer care would be post sale, but they have been brilliant! Every email has been swiftly picked up and dealt with by Sabrina and Jack. The initial snagging list was addressed efficiently, both onsite via Dom, and by the relevant external contractors. Seb and Lee who have been out to deal with the snags have also instilled confidence that support will continue after the development is completed. So we are still very happy with our decision to buy from Strongvox :)

WedmoreHaving Purchased an absolutely stunning 4 bed detached house from Strongvox. We are over the moon with everything. Kate and Laura were on the ball, kept us updated with everything going on and were super pleasant to deal with. As the build got closer to completion we had the pleasure of meeting Dom and Chris who confidently showed us round pre and post completion. All four of them answered every question we had and it made the whole process smooth and simple. The quality of the house is outstanding. Spacious, well laid out and brilliantly put together, so much so we found ourselves hunting for snags that didn’t exist. We did need some assistance with getting WiFi connection sorted while we wait for other homes around us to complete, this was quickly and efficiently sorted by Doug who has made sure we have plenty of connectivity while we work from home. We regularly see the folk mentioned above and they have been what feels like bend over backwards helpful. Can’t praise everyone enough. Thank you.

Excellent service even after three years!

I was very surprised to read some of the vicious reviews for some Strongvox sites and felt I wanted to put the record straight! We bought our beautifully designed bungalow in a quiet cul de sac just over three years ago, an have always just loved it. There were the inevitable snags at the beginning, but they were dealt with in a timely manner with excellent customer care from Jennifer. This review is specifically about something which happened a month or so ago, when I rang Jennifer three years after moving in. She remembered me and was very helpful, although I knew I was way outside my two year warranty period. I explained why I was ringing for advice and definitely not complaining, but Jennifer said that Adam would be on site the following day and he would call in to see if he could help. Adam turned up at the arranged time and did the job, which took almost 1.5 hours, beautifully. I am very happy to recommend Strongvox for building high quality stylish homes and for excellent after sakes care.

An Excellent Move.

I have moved into a new build Strongvox property in Wedmore in the last 6 months. From the outset, when I reserved the property, I found the staff exceptionally helpful. I have never lived in a new build before, it is built to such a high standard with every attention to detail. There were a couple of small snagging issues that needed sorting once I had moved in. These were rectified promptly and with care. I can not recommend the Strongvox properties highly enough and I am delighted with my new home. It is certainly worth visiting a Strongvox show home to get a picture of the high specification standard.

Buying a house between lockdown 1 & 2

Buying a house in 2020 between lockdowns and moving from Cheshire to Somerset, was never going to be easy, but I have to say, that Strongvox helped me at all times. They accomodated my random trips from Cheshire (as rules allowed) so that there was always a member fo staff to meet with me. There were no 'pushy' sales staff, a great team of builders, who were very approachable and an after sales service team who dealt with my (minor) snags expeditiously.I chose The Helford and I am very pleased with it - it really is a lovely house. The whole process was streamlined from initial decision to choosing fixtures and fittings, to the final handover on the date agreed. My dealings with Strongvox as a company was a positive experience.

Beautiful Family Home at Jubilee Gardens

We were the first family to move into the Jubilee Gardens development in November 2023 and have been nothing but happy with our new home. Kate and Laura provided fantastic customer service throughout. Kate especially understood our needs and even to this date provides a genuine interest in ensuring we have settled into our new family home. As the development is still in progress we have got to know the team well, Dom and Josh have been great in keeping us informed of any works to our short snagging list and any works taking place that will directly affect us, of which has been minimal. Warning

My sister bought a property from Strongvox 3 years ago after being in the house for 6 months they put up a 6mtr pole for Tv aerials that towers over her garden spoiling her garden views! As a single mother to two kids she has her hands full but has been constantly battling with the team at Strongvox, they finally agreed an amount to give my sister with no time frame but then refused to pay it too her! We reviewed them here and they asked us to take it down which we did but they haven’t held up their side of the agreement! This feel like a David and Goliath fight but it’s left her with no choice but to go too a local MP and the news papers. Buyers beware

Nicholas · 16 October 2023

Agent replied · 27 July 2025

Nicholas- your sister bought the house from us in February 2020, having reserved it in December 2019. At the point of reservation, the satellite & aerial compound to the rear of the property’s back garden was very clearly marked on the plans which both your sister and her solicitor saw and which your sister also signed. Upon installation of the compound, your sister felt that whilst she acknowledged that the compound would always be built in that position, the height of the aerial had not been pointed out to her. Whilst this point was never proven, as a gesture of goodwill and without prejudice, we offered a not insignificant sum as compensation to your sister. She did not respond to us. Almost two years later, your sister wrote to us asking for the payment, by which time we had not unreasonably assumed that she had either moved or changed her mind about claiming. Then suddenly and without explanation as to the delay in responding, we received correspondence asking us to pay the original compensation offered. We felt this was unreasonable given that we were almost four years on from legal completion on the property and we therefore offered a reduced amount. This is the current situation.

We moved into Wedmore Grange last…

We moved into Wedmore Grange last October Our first new property ever and we’re delighted. We did have several minor problems but eventually they were corrected. We have one outstanding item ( plot 78) relating to a missing tree and shrubs We are however very disappointed with the landscaping of the whole development and the state of the roads. Tony informed us the tarmac would be laid in February!! We are dealing with noise dust and and terrible road surfaces. The weeds are waist high and very unattractive It would be very helpful if the company could update the home owners how much longer we need to put up with these issues. It would seem the company have moved on to new developments not bothering about the Wedmore homes.

The properties are excellent, but the follow up poor.

The properties are excellent, and we love our home. However the common area of the close is a huge disappointment. The planting was very poorly planned and executed, with no follow up, hence two mature trees and numerous plants have died. I reported this and workmen arrived to replace most of the plants, but not the trees, but they have not been back, so these are now dying and the grass is uncut. Despite emailing Strongvox I’ve received no reply, regarding which company is responsible for the gardening and how much they were being paid, as we are paying a service charge. Reluctantly we’ve now tidied up, but are not happy at the lack of response from Strongvox. I feel once the house is sold and the (outstanding) site manager leaves, Strongvox no longer cares.

Appalling customer care

I bought a apartment from them a year ago and for the last 11 months have had a problem with the solar panel fuse switch tripping every time it gets windy and because it was on a row everything else was tripping so I got in contact with customer care and it took about 2 months for someone to come round and isolate the solar panel switch from the rest and they said that would sort it out!! As soon as it got windy it tripped again!! This is still going on now for 11 months and no one seems interested. I emailed strongvox customer care again 3 days ago and no answer, this is appalling customer care having a problem and still not sorted out 11 months later and anyone thinking of buying a strongvox house or apartment should take into consideration how bad there customer care is

We have a new Strongvox home

We have a new Strongvox home. The home build quality is good but there are garage floor faults which they have failed to address. The garage doors still don’t close properly and the garage floor has a crack from front to back. The floor is so uneven you can see waves in the surface. The “Lawn” is poor and in some areas so compacted that you can’t get a fork into the ground. We have been in residence for eight weeks and still have no phone or internet as Strongvox have failed to ensure service from Openreach was in place before the houses were complete. The cell phone signal is poor so we have real difficulty communicating.
