staff are rude and are not welcoming in the slightest. they don’t take your problems seriously at all… i tried to move rooms due to horrible flatmates and they took forever even though it was an urgent situation. when you go to reception for help with something they just turn you away and tell you to come back later. they don’t respond to emails and if they do it takes forever. really not worth the money, wouldn’t recommend living here at all, you’re better off somewhere else tbh. (if you’re an ethnic minority please do yourself a favour and avoid this place)

I am disappointed with this accommodation and cannot recommend it. I was not informed how to lock my door, which I thought was secure. The safety measures are lacking, and this information should have been provided upon my arrival. I realized the door was unlocked when someone entered my room, screaming for help, this was traumatic. The staff showed little concern, and the security personnel left without assisting me on the night.

Truely the best part of living here is the staff who will do everything in their power to make sure you are comfortable staying here. If you are not a social person like myself, you will get noisy neighbours waking you up at all hours in the morning. Although it is a bit overpriced, esspecially for the suites which is what I opted for, you are getting your moneys worth. The suites are a great size, esspecially the gold and platinums suites, great social areas and facilities. Another plus, which I didnt get in previous student accommodation, is the great Wi-Fi speeds. This is a most if you are a student who needs to do a lot of research for their course, or just likes to binge watching Netflix. Ultimately Oxfort Point offers you so much, great rooms, great social areas and great staff. The only thing setting me back from a full 5/5 is just because you will encounter some noisy neighbours and although the staff do everything in their power, there is understandably very little that can be done.

AVOID My son stayed here for about 2-3 months and paid £7000 . He was not allowed to travel to the accommodation due to the pandemic but the staff were not interested so basically it was tough and we still had to pay unless we could get someone else to take over the room !!! Which they are not going to do in a pandemic! Staff are rather patronising in their phone calls and emails and not helpful and couldn’t really give two hoots about the students they were just interested in getting the rent ! One member of staff shouted across the room to my son that he was late with his rent in front of other staff and students!!! Not at all professional. Also rooms are not that great really basic , lifts never work and place is generally grim. Definitely overpriced, other accommodation have much more to offer

The worst experience I ever had from the staff I have being for a room in November and I didn’t have a chance to go back to the uk so someone has taken it and from November till now we are nearly in May I’m waiting for a refund that’s awful they just been delaying for months and months.

Although obviously my daughters time has sadly been cut short in her lovely room at Oxford Point, the staff have been absolutely wonderful and so very helpful during this hideous time. Nothing has been too much trouble and it was lovely meeting Caroline in person having spoken on many occasions (it has also been incredibly hard for the staff at this time) We were so very pleased with the room and kitchen and communal areas in this accommodation. Thanks for everything again and would recommend staying in this lovely block (Elaine Harris)

One of the elevators has been out of service for several months, and now even the last one has been broken for almost a month. We have paid money, but we don't even have such basic facilities. This is unacceptable. Furthermore, I fell ill during this period and had no choice but to climb the stairs, otherwise I would have no access to food and medication. I believe I am not the only one experiencing these issues. Many people have sent emails or requested compensation but have not received any response. Even when directly asking the staff, they only respond with "I don't know," or "I'm not sure,". This kind of attitude and service is extremely disappointing and frustrating. It has already affected our well-being, physical health, and mental health. I really do not recommend living here.

I can only say good things about Oxford point! The management have always been friendly and approachable at all times. If I’ve had any issues with anything it has always been addressed straight away! They have always been more than accommodating for any extra requirements that I have had. Highly recommended.

I couldn’t have had a more positive experience. The social events are lovely and help build a sense of community in the building. The staff are friendly and professional, they go above and beyond. The building is kept nice and clean and maintenance issues are dealt with promptly. Social and study spaces are kept in very good condition. Overall great experience! Thank you!

The room is very clean, the facilities are very good, sufficient and nothing is broken. There is a big social space with a huge TV, great atmosphere. Staffs are really nice and helpful, they not only clean the common areas but also the private room and bathroom, even change my sheets every week. Overall, I have a good time here.

Awfully run organisation

I was booked in for a virtual viewing for over a week, only to be forgotten and not be given any contact by the agent I had spoken to previously. After calling to ask what happened to the viewing, I was given clearly bull**** excuses as to what happened with it, and they could not offer me another date for a viewing. I feel bad for the landlord who is using them as their agent, no wonder the property hasn't been let for well over a year! Will steer clear from this (supposed) company, and advise anyone else to do so.

Poor service received as property owner

I was letting out my holiday flat through Smart Home Rentals (now renamed as Smart Holiday Rentals) for 18 months between 2021 and 2022. I received months of incorrect invoices or invoices not paid at all, and a number of occasions where monies were deducted from my account for services I had not authorised and in some instances, had not even received. Whilst I was paying a premium for a ‘fully managed’ service, I found I was having to very closely manage SHR myself to ensure we were being paid appropriately. Not what I signed up for!! I finally threw in the towel when I discovered that our property had been let at bargain basement prices throughout the 2022 season, significantly below the rates we’d agreed with SHR. I asked for our keys to be returned, and found SHR sent them second class, untracked via Royal Mail. Completely irresponsible and careless. The keys have now been lost, and SHR refuse to take any responsibility or cover cost of getting our locks replaced. Given SHR struggled with the basics of pricing, payment and customer service (holiday home owners are their customers too), I would urge caution to anyone considering using them. I have raised all of these issues with SHR but have sadly been met with indifference.

The elevator is not working since forever and they are not doing anything about it...students are having to climb upto 15 floors on a daily basis .....basic amenity is not there.

Great staff who are always willing to help and lend a hand. Spacious kitchens coupled with aesthetically pleasing dorms make for a great living space. Would definitely stay at Oxford Point again!

Accommodation is nice but not worth the price, sinks in many flats are not attached properly and “fixed” with tape, and not fixed in, (been like that since move in). It is over priced and most expensive en-suite rooms of any accommodation.

very satisfying experience in this hotel quite narrow but comfortable rooms, fairly accurate hygiene, each floor has its own kitchen / living room with microwave, 2 ovens and 2 induction hobs, next to it there are 2 sofas and a TV. The study room is comfortable, and the leisure room is well stocked

They have a ridiculously loud speaker on the terrace which all the rooms border and they don’t have a curfew on the noise. Do not stay here if you intend on sleeping, have a morning job, or even plan on studying in the day from here. .

LOOK ON FACEBOOK REVIEWS AS THATS WHERE THE TRUTH IS. I live here as a student and with the current circumstances they are not showing any support or helping any of students. Do not recommend living here no help at all and no understanding. We were advised to go home to social distancing so majority of students have left but we still have to pay a huge amount for our final rent!! Just to add we had broken taps the whole year they repaired these once and they instantly broke again we also had plugs that were taped up that leaked water out of them and no one did any thing to fix this they were like this from day dot of moving in. The showers in all the flats in my flat would over flow and the drain wouldn’t go down. For the price you pay honestly not what you want.

Very sad to be leaving

Very sad to be leaving the area, we will certainly miss Bournemouth. Hope to be back sometime soon. We are incredibly thankful to Smart Homes for making our move go smoothly what could have been a very stressful experience! We will also miss our little cottage! Thanks for Lilli's hamper, she enjoyed the treats, her little blanket will always remind us of the great time we had. Once again, thanks for all your help and hope you enjoyed the chocolates! Terrible Company To deal with

I highly recommend not to deal with Smart Home rentals. Customer Service is poor! Stayed in a property 6 Sandbourne road, the amount of money being charged to what was on offer is beyond a joke! I complained after staying at this property and for some reason Smart Home Rentals thought there was no issues at all, and said they checked the property before I arrived. They clearly lied. They failed to see: Bedroom on floor one - the smell was unbearable to sleep in and this was the mattress - which smelt very bad- unacceptable Carpets throughout the house very stained and a bad smell running through the house , stains on ceiling.. I could go on. Then for some reason its taken over one month for them to contact the landlord and provide a response, which again was beyond a joke.

It is great place to live in terms of location and kitchen space (there's two fridges and hobs). The common areas are really nice and a great space to hang out. Staff, though they quite often can't help, are all really nice and try their best. The rooms are great, well equipped and reasonably spacious. There are only three major drawbacks: For being so expensive, one would think they have enough money for proper heating. However, the heating units in rooms heat very slowly and turn of automatically after only 30 minutes. So unless you are able to keep turning them on every half hour, the rooms get very cold. This can wake you up at night, and gets super annoying when you get back from uni or just try to do some studying without interruption. Another thing is the laundry. Washing and drying costs over 5 Pounds, which quickly adds up to over 25 Pounds a month. This is absolutely ridiculous when you think how much washing should actually cost. Also, they say the clean social spaces, but it's only the common building spaces they clean, not the social spaces of the flats themselves. It's also super difficult to get help with flatmate problems. Even if you have people smoking or stealing things, the staff is very unresponsive in resolving issues. Overall a great place but just way too expensive for what they actually offer.
