GoogleZim was the one who received me when I booked Douper Hall. He also responded to my questions in a timely manner. Zim also helped me and my friend solve the problem of not having a house to live in when the language class rental ended and the main class house was vacant for two weeks. If it weren't for zim's help, we might have to sleep on the street dragging a lot of luggage! Thank you very much for Zim’s help so far! In short, Zim people are very nice! I saw someone commented that Zim doesn't like women. I don't think this comment is valid. I am a woman myself! Everyone can trust Zim!

GoogleHighly recommended! Trustworthy! It is worthy of being a mature enterprise that has been operating for many years. I really can't stand the bad reviews from some people. If they were black agents, no one in the UK would dare to open an agency. You don't need to find an agent. Of course, except for the malicious negative reviews from many competitors, there is nothing much to say. I recommend you to experience what real attentive service is. A company that has been in business for 26 years has no interest in cheating you out of agency fees. There is no problem that cannot be solved through more communication!

GoogleAfter selling my house 14 months ago, I decided to relocate in Birmingham. I have no experience of private renting nor living in a city environment. Direct housing have been a dream, they helped me through the process of renting, are always available for help and support and are a joy to talk to. Special thanks to Clare and Kiran for being understanding and supportive. I am so appricative for that extra personal touch I get every time I telephone the office. Many thanks to all the staff at Direct Housing, you are the reason why I have remained in Birmingham and still remain a tennant.

GoogleWe lived in a house in Harborne for the last 4 years which was managed by Direct Housing. In a word, the experience with them was great. Any issues concerning the house were addressed promptly and we never had any problems. The staff is mostly friendly and in particular Clare was kind enough to value our requests about anything in the house. Since we paid the rent on time, they liaised with the landlord and ensured that the house rent wasn't increased during the tenancy period. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. I would highly recommend Direct Housing to everyone.

GoogleDirect Housing have managed my property for me for several years now and I can honestly say they have been brilliant for both myself and my tenants. If ever there are any issues they inform me and we set about getting them fixed to keep the tenants happy which is Direct Housings main concern. Clare was brilliant and really helped me get my property off to a good start with all her knowledge and expertise and over the years I've got to know a few of the staff, Naomi is wonderful at keeping me in the loop and getting things sorted for me whenever issues arise or regular maintenance/safety checks are required, she is efficient and responds quickly to my emails. I can honestly say my experience with the company has been nothing but positive and I would like to think my tenants would agree as any matters in hand are dealt with swiftly due to Direct Housing managing my property.

GoogleI think Direct Housing is most student friendly agency when it comes to private accommodation. As a postgraduate student at the University of Birmingham, I have enjoyed for almost a year, excellent housing services from the agency. Not only is the accommodation affordable (£260/Month), it is only 3 minutes walk away from Uni. What is more is that they have an amazing set of staffs that are always ready to assist you. Becky Bhogal, for one, has been particularly helpful and understanding in this challenging season. I feel obliged to give this kudos to the great services you guys deliver. Weldone.

GooglePoor communication between customers and landlords. but I would say the ladies who answer the phone calls are always so friendly. that worth 1 star. I have paid a deposit on a house my family and I liked. The house was a student property. I have told them multiple times before paying the deposit that we are not students. They have also told us multiple times that it is OK for us the rent. I then proceed to pay the deposit of 5 weeks rent (I think they should not have charge me that much since the holding deposit should be only for 1 week's rent?). They then sent me a bunch of applications form for students. I then explained to them AGAIN despite telling them multiple times before that we are not students. Although my mum is unemployed at the moment and I'm the only one working in the family, we have the ability to rent and also have agreed to pay the rent upfront. The agency agreed. BUT THEN they said they will have to ask the landlord whether they will be happy to rent to us? But I have told them multiple times before that we are not students and how come you haven't communicated with the landlord before? Mind you the whole communication between the agency and the landlord deciding whether to rent to us or not took almost 1 month. I could have found another property within this time if they have just asked the landlord BEFORE TAKING MY MONEY. After they have decided not to rent to us they didn't even have the initiation to ask me for my bank details to refund my deposit. I had to call and got told I will have to send them my bank details. its been 12 days since I have spoken with them and there's no refund, no email or calls about the refund. Absolutely horrendous. I will go through legal processes if I haven't heard back from them next week.
Hello Shangrila, I’m sorry you had cause to write a one star review, but having spoken to the staff to get more information it seems that the status of applicants was not conveyed clearly, and when the landlord was contacted with the information you gave us he was not prepared to lose his HMO status by accommodating a family instead of students. You were advised of this at the outset. Unfortunately it does now make a difference to any landlord with an HMO property, they can no longer accommodate families in their properties as they lose the ability to rent to students in the future. I apologise for the short delay in refunding your deposit, this was due to the accountant being away on leave, but has now been dealt with. As a Canadian international student my flatmates and I were juggling a bunch of different things while planning our move to the UK, and Direct Housing eased one of the biggest burdens- housing! Melissa Smith and her colleagues made the process so easy for us with the constant correspondence, and their attention to our concerns. Melissa, Rebecca and all the ladies are a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend Direct Housing for your letting needs, if you are looking for comfortable, trustworthy, and attentive service!

GoogleMy flatmate and I were lucky to meet with Direct Housing in our first year of university and get a good accommodation off them for our second year. Throughout the two years we stayed at our accommodation, we were met with such humility and reassurance from the entire Direct Housing Team. Melissa Smith in particular, was very accommodating and made sure that any issues we had, that they were taken care of as soon as possible and was even nice enough to call us before any viewings were arranged, just to make sure that we were comfortable. GoogleRecently had instances with some letting agents who never respond or are unreliable. With Direct Housing this is not the case. We dealt with a viewing with Lauren and Melissa who came across as very professional representatives of what appears to be a well run company. Even getting text reminders for viewings. The property did not fit our requirements but we look forward to one day letting through a more organised company like Direct Housing.PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

GoogleAfter a long day of futile house hunting/viewing, Lauren from Direct Housing made my day. She was friendly, considerate and transparent. I have voiced a few concerns and requests during viewing and I'm happy that Lauren took them seriously and dealt with things immediately. GoogleI lived with Direct housing for over a year, and although we started off a little bumpy in our journey (through no fault of theirs) they helped me in every way that they could to get me into a home that was safe and helped me with any issue I had with haste whenever I need it. They were always great at getting issues resolved as quickly as they could. If circumstance were different I wouldn't have moved. Staff are always polite and friendly and never hesitate to help.
