Mick has attended my property a couple of times to resolve an issue relating to Bay Window. 1st visit resolved the issue, and 2nd visit (today) was to redecorate affected areas. Harlands Park, Uckfield

We got the keys to our new home at the Harlands Park development on 23rd December 2022 and have been very happy with how we have been looked after by the site team - led by Darren, Mick and Steve. Darren was in touch straight away when we confirmed our reservation in late 2022 - sending us pictures of the build progress of our house, so we always felt like we knew what was going on. If we had any questions, Darren responded almost immediately. When we received our keys, we met Steve and Mick who made us feel very welcome and assured us that if we had any problems they would be taken care of.We did have a list of snags (as is expected), but the day after we sent the list Darren, Mick and Steve were already on the case and over the coming weeks managed to get most of them sorted for us. All the contractors who have visited us have also been very polite and helpful.So far, our only criticism would be that some of the final finishing (paintwork, mastic) was a bit rushed and messy and needed touching up during snagging - but the team have responded quickly. The site is still being built out, so we hope that this level of service continues and others have a similar experience!

Harland Gardens at Cottingham - customers don’t matter.

Harland Gardens at Cottingham is supposed to be open this weekend 11 - 6, but nobody bothers to answer the phone, so presumably they haven’t bothered to open. Just an answering machine message referring you to the website. Pointless making a journey to a development that hasn't bothered to open!Charles Church is is a Persimmon-owned company, so I suppose that’s pretty typical of their attitude towards inconvenient things called customers. Persimmon have an appalling reputation for poor build quality, which is presumably carried through to Charles Church houses. Customers just don't seem to matter.Now looking at other sites in the area where they have a better attitude towards potential purchasers, and probably a better build quality too.This is the reply from Charles Church - my answers are below, because without them apparently the review may be removed.Hi John,Many thanks for your feedback. As I correctly stated, it was impossible to speak to a real person all weekend over the telephone because all calls were put straight through to an answering machine. I was enquiring about buying a house on the development but needed to be sure that the site was open - there was nobody to confirm that it was open (all weekend) so I gave up on the basis that if sales customer service is bad, aftersales customer service is likely to be even worse!

New home disgrace

What we were handed over two days before Christmas was a disgusting mess and around a month short of a finished product. Then everyone went on holiday for two weeks and left us to it. Since then everything we touch falls apart or is a mess. Calling yourselves five star builders is just a complete joke and you should be thoroughly embarrassed. We are trying to be excited and loving our new home, which was incidentally 6 months late, but we can’t b cause of the stress and anxiety. God knows about the parts we can’t see. Totally and utterly disgraceful Charles church, you have denied us of everything a new home should be. Don’t worry, you’ll get a call from the MD they said. Guess what…five weeks later no call. With leadership like that I suppose none of this mess should be a surprise.

Harlands Park

We completed on our new home just before Christmas and are really happy with our experience. Our previous home was also a new build, so we were generally aware of the process. I cannot recommend the site at Harlands Park, Uckfield enough and having worked in the industry previously, it's clear that the team really go above and beyond. The houses have been built to a really high standard throughout and the design of the homes are really beautiful, with carefully thought-out landscaping across the site. There are some snags to be sorted but Steve, the Site Manager was really quick to respond and I'm confident they will be sorted quickly. The team were really great throughout the whole process and with being in a chain, it took longer than we'd hope. The team were really patient the whole way through and were really understanding with the difficulties we were having. We're so happy to be moved into our forever home at Harlands Park!

The good, the bad, the ugly…could have been a 4 to 5 star - kitchen let them down.

First time to buy a new build. There were a number of good points, which I have covered and this is why I gave the 3 star rating. However, details to the ‘ugly’ is reported on.I would like to clarify, there is an opportunity for this developer to correct issues, given I’m due to complete their 7 day snagging process. Depending on how they resolve, I shall return and update my stars. The main issue, is from the design and installation of the kitchen. The second (although somewhat minor issue) all the toilet seats are NOT soft close. For a few extra pounds….also consider the need to change and dispose if customer changes.The kitchen units are so extremely high - I actually need a 3 step ladder to just make the top (I’m 5’6)! I have to stand on the top step just to reach. At this stage I’m not sure if it is the kitchen company who installed, however, the point here is the approval sign off. Maybe no-one has noticed given I’m the first to move in. Having had an upgraded kitchen, 2 of the corner units are poorly designed, with 1 being totally non functional given I can’t place my head to manoeuvre into the space. There are also missing side shelves from joining units - eg. Where the new unit meets, items being stored fall through to the bottom. An entire corner has a gaping hole you can see the ceiling. It’s quite funny that the fitter would not have said anything. / point out.The boiler pipes can be seen by eye whilst standing in the kitchen - had they lowered the boiler cupboard - it would be ok. The other minor ‘moan out’ is the sales team mentioning there were no solar panels or eco service on this small development at the time of the plot reservations, only to see 3 homes with inbuilt solar panels. When questioned, simply shyly smiles and said, ‘oh yes’ Plot 1, 3 and ..is! Overall the house is very good with minor snags. Lots of electrical points. Painted finish of the house is very good. Answered queries promptly. The vinyl flooring they have is good quality (previously only ever would use wood) and it was laid very well. The high skirting boards, give a more upmarket quality feel too. Given the fibrenest not available when moved in, they installed a temporary individual mobile booster.

The stress of putting our property on the market was taken away from us and we were able to proceed with our purchase quickly. Even though there has been delays along the way, Chloe and Karla have both been there to answer any questions or queries we have had. Harlands Park Site Team

We are currently purchasing a house on the Harlands Park site. As we are using help to buy, things have to be complete by certain deadlines. Darren and his team have gone above and beyond to meet these deadlines for us, we get weekly updates from site with photos of progress and he is responsive to all of our questions. This added care and attention makes a stressful time a lot easier to deal with. Whilst we have not yet moved in, we know that the team are doing all they can to make this happen by the deadline.

There was some snagging issues but nothing major. They will be resolved I’m very happy with the service throughout the whole process. Also I forgot to put on my form the front door corners need paint The energy box at the fron has yellow marks. Please can you. Go over the sealant in white. Thankyou we love this house you will always get a few things needing doing. Nothing major. I recommend Charles church herons park Angmering.

So far i can't recommend Charles Church enough.We have purchased a property at the Harlands Park development.Since my last review we have received a letter which stated that the property would be completed in February 2023.....However, Darren and his team have been incredible and despite shortages on a lot of materials, it is looking more and more likely that we will be able to move in before Christmas!Also, the weekly photos we get of the plot and development are also fantastic! Really helps build some excitement about the move

We are reviewing Harlands Park. A special thank you to Darren and Steve for the customer care and constant updates with progress including photos. We recently went on site to see our plot and we were really pleased to be able to do this. On meeting Steve we felt in good hands both been really brilliant at accommodating our requests. They are really on it with information and the details of our plot. This is what really assured us we were in good hands. We look forward seeing the finished build but everything has been great so far and we feel like they will do their best to look after their customers. House is falling apart, bribes for positive NHBC reviews!

We have been in our 5 bed ‘Regent’ house for 20 months now. No end of issues, around 300 defects across the property, and several still remaining. It has recently come to light that there are issues with the timber frame, evident through the many out of tolerance walls, ceilings, and floors which are either sloping or dipping in areas. We have had to use wedges under our newborn babies cot to stop him rolling to the edge! At some point in the near future we will have to move out so they can rebuild some, if not all of the property. I could write a book on how bad Persimmon/Charles Church have been; they are an absolute shambolic house builder. Not a single element of the property has been built diligently or with pride. The brick work is embarrassing, the render is cracking, the carpentry throughout is extremely poor, as is the decorating, and if you like your turf laid on construction debris and rocks then you’re onto a winner! Soon after purchasing the Site Manager was bribing us with quicker action to our highlighted defects in return for a positive NHBC survey response, this is totally inappropriate and unacceptable. My advice would be to avoid this house builder at all costs.

5 Star for a 2nd time on Germany Beck, York

I have now purchased my second home on Germany Beck development in York from Charles Church/Persimmon. I sold my first one quickly to move to another one just a short walk away. It was due to the quality of build and finishing that sold my home quickly along with the area which is outstanding. The developer in my opinion has adapted well to market conditions, supply issues, covid amongst other problems and i have felt very valued as a customer and repeat customer. From the sales team in the sales office who were both exceptional, friendly and very helpful to the site management team who are first class and to the various tradesmen who made my house to a very high standard and with very little issues with snagging. You will always get snagging on new homes and its how the develop deals with them that's important. I have enjoyed a great relationship with Charles Church/Persimmon and a huge thank you to all who have been with me on this journey from buying, selling and buying again on the same development, within 200 metres and within 2 and a half years. I now have a super amazing house on an amazing plot and i only have a few snags left to complete as all previous snags been addressed in a timely manner. Great customer aftersales support also. A special mention to Ben Roberts who again has been pivotal in this special house move and I'm extremely grateful to him from the offset and to all his team. What a star he is! Definitely a 5 star experience from me as on both occasions, i have been 100% satisfied with with a smooth, flexible and hugely enjoyable journey on a fabulous site with a great team and lovely homes.

I finally bought my first house, from the moment that I spoke to the Sales Manager, every aspect has been covered for. There has always been weekly reports, detailed photographs and they are always at the end of the phone. I’ve been quite overwhelmed by their service as a whole. Harlands Park, Uckfield - I don’t think you’ll find better customer care with any other developer

We moved into out new home 6 days ago, it’s been a great experience. The house is beautiful, we’re so happy with it. Yes there are some small snags to feedback but you would always get this kind of thing with a new build and it’s an expected part of the process. The house is great but the thing that really stands out is the customer service from Charles Church. Darren and his team Mick, Steve, Sean have been so incredibly helpful and really gone above and beyond. You can reach them at any time and they go out of their way to help with any issues. I don’t think many developers would operate this way, Darren opened up a direct line of comms very early in the process and as a customer you feel very reassured in the knowledge that you can reach out to him at any time. We had a small problem with one of our patio doors, Darren was in constant contact until the issue was resolved. I don’t think you’ll find better customer care with any other developer. The sales staff are very impressive too. Christine, Trudy and Rob have all been easy to reach and again so helpful.It’s been a great first week for us here, looking forward to settling in.

Amazing new Home - Harlands Park

We have now completed on our new home in the Harlands park development and all I can say is WOW the home is perfect. Having seen the stories online about new builds I was anxious purchasing a new build however its perfect! The site manager Steve and Contract Manager Darren were amazing and genuinely care about the quality of their work, it comes across in abundance. Throughout the buying process Darren kept us updated, sent pictures during key milestones and was happy to help with anything. Steve couldn't have made it clearer they were there to help and the work ethic is always customer first. On move in day the amount of workers who came and congratulated us and welcomed us to our new home was lovely. Feel very lucky to have brought a property with these two looking after our home.

This review is based on the property and on site builders specifically. We Purchased a 3 Bedroom semi detached house with Charles Church in Uckfield. Our new home is better than expected in person as we bought off plan and the quality of the building is very good. We also couldn’t be happier with the upgrades we asked for. Lorraine and Abi are great

From the beginning to end in all has been good service. There is a lot of pressure from Charles Church to get the sale completed asap but in all honesty who doesn’t want to get in their new home! In a lot of cases the pressure on agents/solicitors sped the process up. There are a few snags that need sorting but that is to be expected. Lorraine and Abi in Bishops Stortford have been amazing and informative all the way through and have still made themselves readily available even after moving in. We did hit a hiccup with completion date that was not acceptable to us but Abi and Georgia fought our corner and got it bought forward by 2 weeks which was greatly appreciated. The information from Charles Church is all thorough and conveniently in a pack. So far really happy.
