Dreadful managed letting service

Used Romans for a "fully managed" service on a rental flat.The tenant they sourced paid a couple of months rent and then just stopped. Over a period of 8 months, if Romans did anything more than the odd phone call to manage the situation it was not apparent to me. I felt completely abandoned by them.Our "dedicated property manager" never once responded to emails or returned my calls. Like not ever. They only got in touch when they wanted something. The only way I was able to get any attention was to turn up at my local branch and make a fuss.When the tenant eventually left in a trail of debt and damage, Romans did nothing at all to recover the debt. I was told there would be arbitration but nothing ever happened.My experience involved a lot of stress, a lot of being ignored and ending up significantly out of pocket. Literally the opposite of what a managed service should offer.

Nathan Stevens is a fantastic Property Manager. He managed to help completely re-furbish our house at a time when it is very difficult to get contractors. He is also very good at co-ordinating between the different departments in Romans which tend to get separated in the process. He basically made a project work well that could have been very difficult. Thank you!

Abysmal property management

Absolutely abysmal property management. I moved into a property they are supposed to manage to find it disgustingly filthy, clearly not checked, smoke alarms 18 months out of date (lucky previous tenants!) I had to hound them for weeks to get them to do something about the issues and not one of the issues was addressed with any real apology or acceptance of failure to do their job. Their response (after chasing many times) "we have a receipt for the professional cleaning" ... well, clearly no one actually looked to check the cleaning had been done ... or that the property complied with the law.Examples of the filth: curtains stained; carpets full of moths and matted with dog hair; mouldy food in the fridge; urine on seats and around the base of the loo, window frames mouldy; and much, much more ... Thankfully, all photographed as evidence.

Romans have been managing a pair of buy-to-lets for us for about eight years, and have done it very well. My particular thanks go to our primary contact, Stacey Cowap, who keeps us well informed about events without becoming intrusive, acts as conduit to specialised departments when required, and remains in (apparent) patient good humour when I bang on about stuff I often don’t completely understand. I’d also like to mention Lewis Bebb who navigates us gracefully through any issues surrounding changes in tenants. It’s people like these that make it worthwhile to be a client of Romans.

Straight from the off meeting Natasha she was very easy going and forthcoming, she allowed myself and my partner to view the property at our own free will and and answered all questions in full detail without hesitation.Inside the Swindon office I was in contact with Katie who waited on hand and foot and disclosed all information quickly and efficiently and was an absolute please to deal with even when I felt I was being a nuisance. Natasha and Katie constantly made sure our procedures and process was quick and efficiently and worked at an incredible fast pace to ensure myself and partner got the home we desired. My daughter and I travelled down from Yorkshire as she was about to take up a new job with Berkshire NHS. We had paid a deposit to another agent, who became increasingly evasive, then stopped taking calls.Two days before she was due to move in we abandoned all hope, cancelled the removal van and booked a further week of hotel. I walked past Romans that afternoon and saw a possible rental. I was recommended to speak to Romans after a friend had a really positive experience with them. So with this in mind, I popped in without an appointment late on a Friday as I happened to be passing and was greeted by the lovely Brittany. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the area and gave me all the time I needed to pick her brains on rentals in and around Bath. In addition to this, she followed up and emailed me everything that she said she would and was punctual in her response when emails were exchanged which went a long way for me! Great customer service, professional and a letting agency I look forward to working with in the near future!
