Rude and obnoxious. Avoid!

I’m absolutely appalled at my treatment these past few months by merryweathers. I’ve been renting a furnished flat for 18 months… after a few broken appliances and promises of repairs I decided I had had enough and handed in my notice. My fridge freezer (that was here when I moved in) broke last month, as a full time working single mum that lives hand to mouth I obviously don’t just have a few hundred pounds laying around to go out and purchase a brand new one. I contacted the estate agents and the landlord basically said he couldn’t help me on that one, along with a broken oven that I’ve been waiting for to be fixed for over a month. I have always paid my rent in full and on time. However I had to make a decision to pay my rent or buy a new appliance in order to keep food in my 3 year old daughters mouth. Obviously I chose the latter as anyone would. They even had the cheek to tell me after the landlord refused to replace it that “if I bought a new one I wouldn’t have to leave it when I left” well obviously? I wouldn’t have weather I was told I could or not!Long story short I had a very rude phone call today from Collette. I told her I would be able to pay next week when I get paid as I physically did not have the money in my account right now, she didn’t even let me explain my circumstances before actually SHOUTING at me down the phone, saying do you think we would make you wait a week for your bond back. I’m a 27 year old woman with enough going on and do not need some woman shouting at me down the phone because my rent is going to be a week and half late! I’m actually disgusted at how this woman spoke to me today when I asked for her name she told me Collette and repetitively told me she was the manager. Probably knowing I was to lodge a complaint. I’m sorry but just because your the manager does NOT give you the right to speak to people, especially paying customers, however you see fit. Stick your bond where the sun don’t shine, I’ll have the keys back to you asap and will ensure I and anyone else I encounter NEVER use merryweathers ever again. Maybe take a quick minute in future to think about how tough some people may have it at the moment before adding any more stress into their lives. Absolutely disgusting.

disgusting communication

Me and my partner being new to renting we’re hoping to be dealt with as any other potential tenant, but first of all we were messed about with viewing a property, she gave me a date for just under two weeks away from the date id called, which when i went to check the listing it had said that it had been taken off the market, when i went to rebook this viewing for closer i was told that I was lucky to get this viewing and I was the last one. we loved the house so we instantly put in an application (along with other applicants), but the house is only as good as the estate agents, the communication from merryweathers is abysmal and frankly very disappointing as they are a fairly well known agents within my area. I had to chase this up over weeks which i should’ve been contacted rather than having to chase it up myself. Under a month later we still haven’t heard anything, if i was to guess they went with someone else as tenants and were too lazy to inform us, absolutely disgraceful communication. me and my partner are a young couple as well so i’m to believe that there was some age discrimination in this. work on better communication as a company, it’s absolutely shocking that we have waited almost a month with the only communication being me chasing it up.

Do not use this company they just cost me the sale of my house because they marketed a house without 2 signatures they only had 1 put it on the market hoping to get the 2nd the property had a court order matrimonial dispute on it they went breach of court order still no signature we actually was told Friday they admitted it shouldn't have been put on market we have spoken to 4 estate agents they all said they broke the law not getting 2 signatures to sell it a lawyer has told us the are now liable to costs after 6 months of been sold we now got extra stamp duty £1750 to find another searches survey and solicitors to buy again plus houses gone up £15000 since April total extra cost to me £20000 now extra to find and pay due to there fault I was told on 1st Oct don't expect to move this month mortgage offer runs out in 5 weeks extra £750 with new valuation cost that's merryweather see you in court asap you not getting away with this

Absolutely terrible. If I could give zero stars, I would. We 'worked with' them, and communication was poor from the beginning; they did not acknowledge any communications made for days, it took a total of 2 emails and a voicemail over the course of a week before a more senior colleague took over and returned my voicemail. On the few occasions we actually spoke with them, they were abrupt and condescending, and when our sale eventually fully broke down, we received a blank email with a formal letter as an attachment as notification. Absolutely zero courtesy shown. One of the myriad problems with our sale was that Merryweathers disagreed when the bank down-valued the property. We were informed that they would be challenging the valuation and asked for the name of our lender and underwriter; 2 weeks later my partner copied the underwriter into an email, explaining that we would not be able to proceed without a full asbestos survey, it was the first the underwriter had heard of the situation. Sloppy and slow at every turn. Despite knowing what our lender had decided (having forwarded them the response), and knowing our personal situation was that we could not make up the shortfall, they did not pass on our reduced offer in a timely manner and instead pressured us to go to a different lender hoping for a different response. Finally, they squeezed everything they could from the situation, including informing the solicitor we had instructed that they had referred us to them, which was blatantly false (my partner had found the solicitor), and that the referral fee should be made out to Merryweathers. In summary, poor customer service, shady business practices, and we are now back to square 1 but 4 weeks further on. I called up on Saturday the 25th at 11am to chase up a email enquiry I sent threw zoopla. The lady who answered the call was quite rude and when I explained I was just calling to chase a email enquiry i sent she answered "we get so many enquiries through zoopla we hardly check them". The property we where enquiring about was not available for viewings and I was then told they do not know when the property will be available. To top it all off, I was then offered a alternative property that we wasn't even eligible for.

We placed a bid on one of the houses…

We placed a bid on one of the houses they were selling (after we viewed it) and they phoned me back, telling me the owners have accepted our offer. They then sent me an email, where they confirmed that our offer has been accepted. My mother brought all the neccessary documents into their office 2 days later. One day after this, we received another call and merryweathers told us, the owners have now accepted another offer and won't sell to us. Disappointing and unprofessional. Only one more day later and we would've had to pay money for our solicitor already. Never doing business with them again. Thank goodness there's lots of other real estate agencies out there.
