Never again

Well well, I wished I had read this before instructing AYR corum. Clearly all branches work independently of each other so I cannot comment on Corum in general. We have an ongoing complaint with the Estate agency ombudsman. Essentially they lost us a sale to a cash buyer very early in the process. This was due to incompetence , staff being off sick and poor management in the office. Of course they deny any negligence now the house HAS sold and they have their commission. NEVER AGAIN.

We sold our flat through Corum late 2019 and Ross was excellent help from beginning to end! He was extremely professional and knowledgable! He helped myself and my husband to achieve the price we felt the property was worth, so much so it sold within 4 days of being listed! I couldn’t recommend Corum enough if you’re looking to buy or sell!

I have used Corum both in the south side and the west end and have found them to the most professional company I have ever dealt with. They are friendly, reassuring and know the business inside out. They could not do more for you and I’m unsure how anyone could rate them less than 5 stars. Don’t let the negative comments put you off as I would not sell my property with any other company

Unprofessional and unhelpful

Well where do I begin. Myself and my partner reserved a new build property that Corum were the dedicated estate agent for. When we initially reserved the property in March 2021 we were told that the property was expected to be completed within 6-8 weeks. It got to the end of May and we had no word or update on the property. We tried multiple times to contact corum for an update and were continually told there were no updates. Repeatedly the estate agent dealing with our case would say they would arrange to email us/contact us however this never happened. We then found out in mid June that the builders for this property had gone bust (through word of mouth) and were not completing the build - AGAIN ZERO COMMUNICATION from the estate agent on this matter. We finally were able to get in contact with Corum after ongoing attempts to be told that our reservation fee (which we had paid to Corum) could not be refunded because the builders had gone into liquidation. Now this is the point that gets me most. We paid a reservation fee of £1000 to reserve the property. This fee was paid from our bank account to Corum’s bank account. When we paid this fee we explicitly asked the estate agent what happens if the build doesn’t complete. They replied to us saying in 20 years of working in estate agents they had never seen that! They then also went on to tell us of course our money would be refunded to us in the case that the house was not completed. Roll forward 4 months from when we paid that fee we are now adamantly told we can not get this fee refunded. This company (particularly the Shawlands branch) have completed disappointed us. At no point in the process were they engaging with us for updates or had even a remote interest in us. They are extremely unprofessional, deceitful and incompetent. I would not recommend them for selling or purchasing a property. We have since bought another house and have dealt with several estate agents in this process all of whom have had timely communication with us and kept us updated at all times. Would recommend choosing another estate agent if considering Corum.

Professional friendly service, the best in Ayrshire! I would never use anyone else and we found out the hard way. When we sold our first house 7 years ago, we initially went with another estate agent promising extremely low fees....the result - our house didn’t sell, the agent lost interest and we had to take it off the market. After meeting Bruce at a viewing, he was helpful, so knowledgeable about the local market and gave us great advice. We put our home back on the market with Corum and it sold within 3 days - to a viewer that had initially viewed it when it had been on previously. Selling your home with Corum is the best decision you will make. I can’t recommend them enough.
