My wife and I have recently completed the sale of our property in the Derbyshire Dales. This was the first house I had sold where the Estate Agent has not been a personal friend. I was therefore a little anxious about how it would turn out. I needn’t have worried, from the outset Lee and the Team were superb, nothing too much trouble and always covering the smallest detail. They even covered stuff that we thought wasn’t their job!Thank you to the whole Team.

I used an alternative estate agent to sell my property and had viewed a new home marketed by fine & country. During the months waiting to sell my house the staff at F&C (Willerby, East Yorkshire) gave me advice about improving potential buyers even though they were not my agents. Whilst waiting to sell the staff kept me informed of the house I wanted to buy. When I was in a position to buy the home from them they were as excited as I was that I was finally able to put in an offer. Even though I did not buy the house in the end, fine & country were brilliant support. Professional service from Fine and Country team

Recently I sold a house through Fine and Country, Solihull Branch.I was very assured of the service offered at my first meeting with Martin and Rachel from the Solihull branch of F&C, and we agreed terms of contract. I immediately received excellent service, support and good advice from the team throughout the process. They were always respectful, promptly responded to emails and telephone calls or messages.The house was quickly advertised on line supported by photographs and a beautiful quality brochure for circulation.We soon had several viewings and an early acceptable offer. Unfortunately, due circumstances beyond Martin’s control, including the present virus, the property could not be sold. Despite this set back, Martin remained in constant touch, calm and confident. He was reassuring, gave advice and guidance. Most importantly he was very optimistic that when circumstances improved there would be a quick sale. This came true this August when the property was quickly sold.I will be for ever grateful for Martin and the F&C team for their excellent service. Hugh.

First rate service from a professional team.I recently sold a property through Fine & Country. The team, specifically the Diss office, did a fantastic job. At the time of the sale, I was living and working abroad. F&C went to great lengths to coordinate viewings, engage with potential buyers and keep me fully informed. I received very credible offers in what seemed like no time at all and the sales team worked well with me to secure the best price possible. I will certainly be using F&C for my next home purchase and I sincerely recommend them to any prospective home seller / buyer. A Fine sale of a Country home

We have just completed the sale of our 4 bed home on Dartmoor in Devon with Fine & Country. James Cooper has proved to be an outstanding estate agent who has provided a personable and attentive service throughout. In the old days (yes, I am a bit of a dinosaur) once you were under offer then that was it as far as service was concerned. Not so with Fine & Country, in fact accepting the offer is only the beginning of the journey. James has kept in touch every step of the way which is comforting to know; proactive and on the ball. James certainly earned his commission and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his service.

Fine and Country Brookmans Park - beware of upfront charges

Dealt with Fine and Country Brookmans Park previously and the service was ok, not fantastic but ok. This time I decided to use them again and placed my property on the market with Matthew. At no point did he tell me that I had to pay for the photographs that were taken in order for him to market my property. When I reviewed the listing on Rightmove I wasn't happy. Spelling errors, not much of a description and, initially - no floor plan, minimal photographs uploaded. I decided to go joint agency because I believe that other agents use more modern marketing methods, drones, video tours etc. at no extra cost. When I told Matthew I wanted to go joint agency he sent me a bill for £180.00 to pay for the photographs for marketing on Rightmove. Keep in mind I was only asking him to go joint agency I didn't remove the property from them. If he had sold my property he would have still made circa £20,000 from my sale so to charge me £180.00 seems not only petty but unprofessional at worst certainly not customary. I have never heard of an agent asking the vendor to pay for marketing their property before. Luckily the new agent offered to reduce their fee by £180 to compensate me for something that had nothing to do with them. Beware you may be asked to pay "marketing costs" if for any reason you are not happy with the service and decide to go joint agency! It was on Rightmove for less than 24 hours!

Not Interested in selling my £1.1m house!!!

F&C sent me a speculative article and compliments slip a couple of months ago as our property was not selling.August 3rd I went on their website, and decided to request a virtual valuation. I uploaded 13 videos that I had made of my property. All appointments for that day were greyed out. So I chose 3 times on the 4th. I received an automated confirmation email of my request and that a member of their staff would contact me to confirm date and time. Nothing.7th August - I replied to their email (southessex at fineandcountry dot com) saying what I wanted to discuss.11th August (today) - still NOTHING.They are clearly not interested in any business!!!

Buyer Biased Agent

We were asked by the Fine & Country agent on his first visit to us what it was that we wanted in an estate agent. Rather refreshing we thought. Reliability, trustworthiness and communication we replied. Paid for a video which was professionally executed, flattering shots were taken and an interested party came to view, swiftly offering full asking price before going live on Rightmove. Fantastic we thought. Then Covid hit just after the buyers' OTT surveyor presented his report (and a slimy, arrogant, rude little man he was too.) Our own surveyor friend (a highly professional man with years of experience with listed buildings and renovations relating to them and awards won) came round to inspect the issues raised and advised what required doing. Much of the report was ridiculous and totally unnecessary said he. Not being able to have our reputable, knowledgeable builder in to quote for works due to Covid, our friend sent technical specs to him and we emailed photos and measurements to him for a ballpark quote. The costing was £6,500 including VAT not the supposed £50,000 reduction in price that the buyers insisted on, and no doubt at their surveyor's suggestion, in order to rectify works.We costed up issues, rectified and repaired minimal details brought up after going through the report with a fine tooth comb and offered to pay for extractor fan replacement, electricity report, etc., details which most buyers would expect to pay themselves.Presented to agent who advised not sending any detail of all this, only the minimal work we had undertaken ourselves. He said they would walk away. In hindsight we really should have insisted they see it. At worst they could have said no. He didn't want the risk. From there on in, it was abundantly clear to us that the agent was working on behalf of the buyer, not the clients who were paying his commission. Of course he didn't want to lose a sale. Dropping £40,000 (as was reluctantly agreed by us) made little difference to his percentage (an inflated rate in comparison to other agents) in the grand scheme of things.Communication was scant from him and especially so once exchange took place. He had secured his commission after all. We have heard nothing further from him. Even our vendors' agent sent us a card of congratulations. We are decidedly disappointed with what started out as a good relationship. How wrong we were in our estimation. In the end he turned out to be just another typical estate agent with the gift of the gab.
