GoogleI've been seriously struggling for past 20 months to secure a rental. A few days ago I saw a sign with this company & called. The call went through to who I now know is the founder...MARK.
I explained my situation and although I've not secured a place, MARK educated & provided a wealth of factual information I'd been requesting many times. With the detailed information MARK gave me from the start, it explains why I couldn't secure or wasn't considered for rentals, but also gives me leverage now to my local council who is legally bound with a duty of care to keep my disabled 22 ye old and myself a safe place to live.
This occurred via 1 call, without prejudice or judgment, and I personally will make effort to actually visit Lockwood Lettings in order to personally meet and thank Mark for providing such honest detailed information that would have hugely benefited us & prevented us 20 months of unnecessary stress, anxiety & uncertainty.
If I could give 100 stars I wouldn't hesitate.

GoogleMy experience with this letting agency has been extremely disappointing. Throughout my tenancy I looked after the property carefully and left it clean and in good condition, yet the agency pushed for a very high and unreasonable deduction from my deposit over some minor paint touch-ups. Communication felt one-sided and my concerns were not taken seriously. Rather than working with me to find a fair solution, the focus seemed to be on maximising charges.
I found the approach unhelpful, unsupportive and lacking transparency. At every stage I felt like the tenant’s voice was irrelevant. The whole
experience has been incredibly stressful and left me feeling taken advantage of. I would not rent through this agency again and would advise others to be cautious and document everything from check-in to check-out., , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , -
I would like to clarify that, according to the checkout report, I caused no damage, only minor patchy paintwork consistent with normal wear and tear after a one-year tenancy. The property did not require extensive redecoration or sealant, only a light touch-up of paint.
My review reflects my honest experience dealing with the agency, including the tone and professionalism of their communications during the deposit dispute. I stand by the accuracy of my review and the way the process was handled.

I am very sorry to read your 1-star review, and although I must appreciate and respect your opinion, I have to say I believe it to be very unfair.
It is always regrettable when there is dispute between landlord and tenant about how the property was returned and who, if anyone, should be responsible for the damages and the costs arising from this.
This is one of the many reasons why we always use independent inventory clerks when determining the condition of rental properties at the start and end of tenancies as it avoids any claim of bias from any of disaffected parties.
I can see form our email communications, that after your tenancy ended, you were kept fully informed during the whole process, and I can see that you felt the requested deductions were unfair.
As a result the matter was passed to the DEPOSIT PROTECTION SERVICE who were holding your deposit in their custodial scheme for them to resolve and decide of the landlords claim was fair or not.
The undisputed part of your deposit was returned to you immediately by the DPS, whilst the disputed sum was held by them until an adjudication was made.
THE DEPOSIT PROTECTION SERVICE requested that we supply evidence of the reasons for the requested deductions, which we did by supplying them with the schedule of condition at the start of the tenancy and the schedule of condition at the end of the tenancy, along with quotes for the dilapidations highlighted in the reports.
The dispute resolution service at the DPS, which you agreed to use, came to the conclusion after reviewing all the evidence submitted was fair and reasonable and awarded in favour of the landlord.

All maintenance issues were revolved quickly using friendly and reliable contractors which gave my tenant piece of mind.
I have also rented a property through Lockwood lettings and management and the whole process was quick and easy, having told them what I was looking for they found me a property straight away. They treated me fairly and were very honest throughout the whole process. Having never rented before they advised me step by step and was always on hand to give advice.

GooglePoor service. I went to view the property, I asked specifically if landlord is accepting offers, I was told by the agent they are thinking of reducing the price and I could make an offer then I got sent a PDF file to make an offer. I asked politely I don’t have a printer to print it I usually send the offer with all the information needed on an email as not the first time renting a property. One of Cognet replied “customer usually amend it online” unhelpful. I spent a lot of time online to see how to amend pdf file, after spending a lot of time I amended it which wasn’t an easy task which looked messy. After exchanging several emails, calls, even been asked “what’s my final offer” to find out at the end. Landlord is not accepting offers, wasted so much of time so unprofessional. It’s a family business, typical family business behaviour. If you see Lockwood lettings ad, AVOID !!

GoogleLettings management feels like the "Wild West." I viewed a property with this agency and was immediately pressured to complete an application form demanding highly sensitive personal data.
They asked for my exact savings balance, how long I’ve held those savings, and my current rent. This is completely unnecessary and overreaching; I am applying for a tenancy, not a bank loan. I have dealt with agents who managed the entire process up to the contract stage without ever demanding such intrusive financial details. There are much more professional ways to assess a prospect's suitability without demanding such intrusive data.
This agency expected me to hand over my private data before we had even discussed my requirements for the property or what I expected from the landlord. I refuse to share sensitive information with every "Bob and Mary" just because they ask, especially when they have the audacity to state they will pass it to third parties so early in the process.
This is totally unacceptable. Other agents only require basic details like employment status and approximate salary. The government needs to do more to regulate companies that do not respect or protect prospective tenants' personal data. Avoid.
