First time buyer nightmare

I am a first time buyer and it's really sad that my first experience of buying a house has been such a bad one. Only good thing is that I'm going to take my custom elsewhere before paying any money.It all started with me seeing one of their morgage advisors and in all fairness it was a fantastic experience and made me happy enough to start my search for a house with burchell edwards. We was approached immediately after our meeting with a very pushy estate agent booking us in for a viewing, which we went along for and actually loved the house. So we began the process of making an offer on the house on question. When our offer was rejected we decided to up our offer because we liked the house quite a lot. We started to get pressured by the estate agent as she had a lot of viewings for the property. So we decided to up the offer again, and then found out the they had withheld information and it was in fact leasehold. If we upped our offer the property would be free hold on completion. So we upped our offer, with the guarantee that the property would be free hold.We decided to use a recommendation for another morgage adviser, not through burchell edwards and this is where the service quickly plummeted. We was made feel guilty for choosing another advisor and was told that our accepted offer was no longer standing as they had accepted another offer. (I wonder if they are staying within burchell edwards for their morgage)? Overall we had a really poor start to the housing market. Communication was poor, we was misleaded and fed false information. When our offer was accepted it was no longer viable because we decided to use somebody else as our morgage adviser. I would avoid burchell edwards at all costs, horrible service, rude staff and a very patronising manager (Castle Bromwich Branch). Will never use again to buy or sell a future property. I thank them for such a poor service though, because ive not had another experience like them since.

If I could give this company zero stars…

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Beware sellers, because a lot of your potential buyers either don't get to book a viewing or make an offer unless they allow themselves to be bullied into meeting with Burchell Edwards mortgage advisor even if you already have a full AIP in place. We stopped viewing anything that Burchells had on sale, which was a pity as there are a few we may have purchased. Thankfully we are currently buying through another estate agent where we had a totally different experience

We bought a house through Burchell Edwards and found our experience very mixed. We were lied to and misled repeatedly, going through 6 months of never knowing where we stood and what was actually true. Towards the end they actually helped us wrap up the sale of the property when no one else seemed to be moving forwards. So that I am grateful for. However I fear for first time buyers who have no prior experience. We got ourselves a mortgage advisor who told us what was true and what wasn't, and stopped us from doing a lot of stupid things which would have cost us a lot of money. Burchell seem to just want to string you up and watch you choke.

We needed a mortgage to buy our new house and also a re mortgage on a buy to let property in order to release funds for deposit and renovations on our new house. We used Lee Peck for all our mortgage needs. He spent a lot of time with us talking through our options and was great in explaining everything. He kept us posted through out the whole process and sorted out any issues with lenders queries quickly. He also played a key part in making sure we exchanged on time by keeping in touch with our solicitors on the re mortgage side of things.

Amazing staff!

The first time I went into burchell edwards, the staff were very polite and welcoming. Me and my partner spoke with Alisha who showed us round some of their properties and Emily helped us with final details of our application to rent our home. I found a property to let through Burchell Edwards. I had Lisa throughout the process who was efficient, timely and honest throughout the entire time. Any query or concern Lisa always contacted me to reassure and let me know exactly what was going on. Upon collection of keys Lisa also ensured all health and safety guidelines were adhered to. Unethical treatment

Unprofessional, unethical and extremely pushy. I have never had an experience like this before where the agent and the vendor wanted to dictate to my partner and I whose services we could use in terms of an advisor. Withdrew our offer as we found a better place, but I would not recommend BE at all. Steer well clear. They make you feel as if you owe them something! Awful experience!

Pushy salesman only willing to progress your offer if you use their in house mortgage broker which are no cheaper than a comparison site but charge you £600 for the privaledge. I would never use these to market my house, they get more commission from selling a buyer a mortgage than the sale of your property. They do not act in the best interests of the seller.

I can’t believe they have charged almost £300 just to renew with my previous tenant ! They are expensive for their maintenance so don’t go there. Plenty more companies out there ! I can’t wait till my contract finishes with them ! Useless and full of lies !

Very bad experience

They only do something when it is going to make them money, and the repairs department do not appear to shop round for a good price, after them telling us right back at the start that that was what they were there for. They almost lost us a tenant do to bad management of a boiler repair. I would never use there services again.

Extremely unprofessional. My offer was accepted by the agency. Requested property is removed from the market but it was marked as "Sold STC". A week later I recieved a call to say vendor has received a higher offer. Within 24 hours the property had been removed from the market. No duty of care whatsoever and discriminatory treatment. DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY.
