Margret from Stephenson Browne helped me throughout the process of purchasing my first house. She was extremely helpful, great with communication, constantly chasing things up and giving updates. She was very friendly and supportive with any questions or issues that arouse throughout the process. Very professional, welcoming and overall she made the house buying experience an easy, smooth and enjoyable process. It was also lovely to put a face to the name once I got my keys and Margret was just as kind and friendly in person as she had been over email. It shamefully has taken me nearly 2 weeks to leave this review… However, myself and my partner wanted to give a huge thank you to all the team at Stephenson and Browne. We sold a house in Cheshire and made the jump to come and live in Staffordshire. The house we brought was under S&B as I can say it seems an increasing majority are in Staffordshire, which speaks volumes for their hard work, great communication and diligence to providing both their sellers and buyers a coherent level of knowledge and regular updates throughout the whole process. I particularly wanted to say a huge thank you to Margret, I have never known a more thorough individual. Everytime there was a change or an update I would hear it from Margret first, sometimes before my own solicitor. We couldn’t have faulted her. Nathan and Mathew also played a huge part in helping us to secure our forever home so thank you again to everyone at Stephenson and Browne and if we ever do decide to sell our home, we know where to come.🏡🔑

I t was a pleasure to work with this estate agent, they secured the sale of my property and were always looking for ways to market the property if enquiries became slow - used virtual designs of how the home could look through their contacts which was reasonable and delivered the results I needed. Their customer service was brilliant, always kept me updated and found out any answers I required mainly during the sales process. I mainly dealt with Margaret and Emma who were always on hand to deal with my queries and kept the process running smoothly. Would have no hesitation in recommending you to others. Don't be fooled: Sam is branch manager, but he's seriously hands-on. With a strong feel for the local area, he put together a listing that made our modest property feel a little bit special. If you're looking for arty images à la Cheshire Life, better find another agent, but if you want practical photos that sell real homes, Sam is your man. He's a straight-talking kind of guy, who's happy to stay in touch by phone or email. Sam chased up leads, negotiated hard, and gave us unbiased advice on every genuine (and half-hearted) offer that we got.

I would just like to say how impressed I was with the service offered by Stephenson Browne. I rang them to book a viewing at a property I am interested in. I spoke to a lovely lady name Tracy Jackson. There were some questions I needed answering and Tracy answered my queries without hesitation. Property was sold the night before I arrived and they didn't have the courtesy to call before my viewing to advise this was the case. Wasted 1.5 hours driving to view the property and not to mention the petrol it cost to drive over. After discussing this with the agent selling the property they attempted to get me to bid higher than the offer which was received in order to start a bidding war. It is a sellers market at the moment but integrity should always be at the forefront of business. Never would do business with this particular branch as they should advise this ahead of time to allow the person to decide whether they will visit. Crewe branch is just as bad.

My experience of Stephenson Browne Alsager has been quite poor as a tenant. The staff are extremely rude and clearly need customer service training. The service started off well but there have been staff changes and it has gone downhill in the last 12 months. Shoddy property, shoddy service. Relieved to no longer be a private tenant of theirs.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stephenson Browne, Alsager branch. I've used them many times over the years and can confirm they offer a great service. All staff are well trained, friendly and professional and it really doesn't matter who you speak to they will either assist or get someone onto it asap. Communications are clear, concise and quick. You can either speak with somebody in Lettings or Sales or if need be, just pop in to see them. Brilliant support from Carla, Ally and Beth over the last couple months.

Slumlords and Agents…

We have rented a property from them for just over 4 years now. We were promised prior to moving in that all the weeding in the back garden would be done and the house would be thoroughly cleaned. Also that after 6 months the carpet in the hall, stairs and landing would be replaced, neither were done. When we got the keys and came to the property to move in, the house smelt terrible, complained at the time, nothing was done. The en-suite has always leaked and never been repaired/replaced properly, this also led to mold under the carpet of the adjoining bedroom where are kids were sleeping. We found this out because we replaced the carpet at our own expense in that room due to the smell in there. Again this was reported and nothing was done, I don't think it was even acknowledged. There is damage to the front door, which lets in a draft, again nothing was done. That is just a small snippet of the issues. The central heating, windows, doors, kitchen, bathrooms are all original from when the house was built almost 30 years ago. They tried to increase the rent a couple of months ago, which we disputed legally via tribunal. We advised that if the jobs were done and the house was up to standard we wouldn't mind paying the increase, we even offered the landlady and estate agent to come round, so they could see the issues and come to a resolution. This was not acknowledged and we have heard nothing since. Fast forward to today and we are served with a section 21 notice. The landlady/estate agent has no interest in doing the jobs to the property, and do not care about the tenants. We have never missed a rent payment, and other than the jobs that need doing we have never had any issues or been a problem. They treat people like dirt and think that you are below them.

Poor communication and very little action

Our house purchase has STILL not been completed. There is a VITAL issue regarding land registry, which seems to be ignored or downplayed by both SB and the vendors solicitor. Communication has been and continues to be poor, the same question asked repeatedly; will we exchange and complete before the land registry issue is resolved? NO! I have moved house a number of times in my life and recognise that house moves take time and not all go smoothly, but this is my worst experience! That is taking into consideration that a decade ago I moved back north from London, having to coordinate everything, including a 2 day removal. Thankfully the estate agent in Biddulph stayed open until I could collect the keys and they were very helpful. Matt has helped when Margret has been unavailable and whilst I recognise they are only passing on information given to them by the vendor and or their solicitor, much of this communication is either unclear or later proven to be false. I have sent several emails spelling out what is needed and asking for assistance in passing information over and or obtaining information and action. I might as well have just opened the window and shouted it into the breeze. I write this review STILL waiting for this matter to be resolved so that we could complete our purchase and move in. OUR buyer is champing at the bit and HER buyer is desperate to move before Christmas. ALL now frustrated because of failures between SB and the vendors solicitor. As another reviewer said; SHAME on you!

We sold our old property and bought our new property with Stephenson Browne. We had excellent service from the start and were given weekly updates via phone or email. Any queries were answered quickly and we are extremely pleased with the service we received. We had previously been with two other estate agents, as this was the third house we had tried to purchase, and the other two fell through, due to the poor level of service from the other agents. However, Stephenson Browne has renewed our faith in estate agents and we would highly recommend them to anyone buying or selling a property. We would like to name Margret Caddy in particular as she was the person giving weekly updates and she also chased the solicitors at the end to get our house sale and purchase over the line! Without her we are not sure it would have happened on time - thank you. We also had great service from Sam the new manager on the last few days, as he was new to the Alsager branch. Well what can I say , we decided to put our house on the market but the team in Alsager were already ahead of us ! They sent viewing and sold our home before we even hit the market ! We also purchased a property which did not go smooth due to legal reasons but the team were there through all of the highs and the lows and did everything they could to ensure our sale completed ! I wanted to say how grateful I am to Matt and his team. Prior to using SB, I had my house on the market with 2 other estate agents from Alsager and neither produced the goods. Matt was very professional from the outset and gave me the confidence that he would do his best for me. He promised to sell it and he did just that. Tip; if you have a property you want to sell in Alsager, don't waste your time with others, just put it on the market with Matt at Stephenson Browne.
