GoogleI know this review is late, but I believe it’s better to share my experience than never. We moved out in October 2025, and unfortunately our experience with Martin & Co Aldershot was very disappointing.
Within days of moving in, my wife became trapped inside the kitchen because the door jammed shut. I called our property manager, and the first response I received was, “How did you get my number?” rather than addressing the emergency. We were told to remove the lock, and when we did, we found it had been clogged with paint from a recent decorating job. They promised to repair it but never did. To make matters worse, money was later deducted from our deposit for this issue, even though it was clearly caused by the poor paintwork before we moved in. I have attached photos.
A week later, the cooker stopped working. We provided the correct measurements, but they ordered the wrong size. It took around 4-5 weeks before we finally had a working cooker, forcing us to spend extra money on takeaway food.
We also reported water leaks in the bathroom and entrance, but no proper inspection was ever carried out, and the damage remained when we moved out.
Throughout our tenancy, we always paid our rent on time. However, when we requested a landlord reference after giving two months’ notice, we were told we had to pay the following month’s rent in advance before they would provide one. We paid simply to avoid delaying our move.
Martin & Co also lost their own set of keys. After we moved away, we had to arrange access for contractors ourselves. Despite asking them to return our keys to our friend in person, they left them in a letterbox without informing anyone.
The deposit process was equally frustrating. It took well over a month to receive our deposit back. Every time I asked, I was told the landlord wasn’t responding. I eventually had to raise a dispute through the tenancy deposit scheme before any progress was made. We also accepted deductions we disagreed with simply because we couldn’t afford further delays.
At the beginning, the team was friendly and keen for us to leave a review. Unfortunately, when maintenance issues arose and the tenancy ended, the level of service changed completely.
Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Martin & Co Aldershot. If you rent through them, document everything, keep records of all communication, and take plenty of photos when you move in.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with aspects of your tenancy. However, we do feel it is important to clarify a number of points in the review, as some of the statements made do not reflect our records.
In relation to the kitchen door, the contact was made with a junior member of our team on their personal mobile phone at night, rather than through our out-of-hours reporting procedure. We understand that the staff member may initially have been confused as to who was calling and the reason for the call, particularly given the time and the way the call was made. Nevertheless, they did assist you and tried to help with the situation.
We also need to clarify that no deduction was made from the tenancy deposit in relation to the kitchen door, contrary to the statement in this review.
Regarding the property's keys, we have no record of any keys being lost. We appreciate there may have been frustration regarding arrangements for access following the tenancy, but the suggestion that Martin & Co lost the keys is not supported by our records.
We take genuine concerns about maintenance, communication and the end-of-tenancy process seriously, and we are always willing to review individual cases based on the records held. However, we believe it is important for prospective tenants reading this review to have a balanced and accurate account.
We are sorry that the tenancy did not meet your expectations, but we cannot agree with several of the assertions made in this review.

GoogleMy partner and I just had confirmation of our first ever property purchase, and we can’t thank Ellie at the Aldershot branch of Martin & Co enough for all her help throughout the process.
From start to finish, Ellie was incredibly patient, supportive, efficient, and genuinely kind. Buying your first home can feel overwhelming at times, but she was always there to answer questions, keep things moving, and reassure us every step of the way. Her communication was excellent, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble.
We’re so grateful for everything she did to help make this experience such a positive one. Thank you again, Ellie; we couldn’t have asked for better support for our first home purchase!

In response to your message, no it was directed at Martin and Co. To add we've had no wetroom for 2 months and Martin and Co doesn't seem that phased- ridiculous for a small job might I add!! So all in all I'd say shabby service all around. Maybe don't respond to comments jumping the gun ay.

Thanks for taking the time to leave us this review. Unfortunately, you have not provided anything tangible that we can look into. If this is genuine, please reach out so that we can investigate.
I see you have left 1 star reviews now for multiple letting agents, perhaps this was meant for someone else?

GoogleDo not rent with these people. They have zero support for tenants. They took all of our deposit for stupid reasons. There are other good agents around who support tenants and be reasonable. With the housing prices if agents are stealing all of our deposit how are we supposed to afford our basic needs or rent another house??

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you feel disappointed with your experience.
We take our responsibilities to both landlords and tenants seriously, and we always aim to ensure that the end-of-tenancy process is fair and transparent for everyone involved. This includes making sure that landlords’ properties are returned in an appropriate condition, while ensuring that any proposed deductions from a tenant’s deposit are reasonable and supported by evidence.
Where deductions are proposed, the condition of the property is assessed against the relevant inventory and independently reviewed by an AIIC-registered inventory clerk. Any proposed contribution is then presented to the tenant, who has the opportunity to agree or disagree. If an agreement cannot be reached, the deposit scheme’s independent dispute resolution process is available to provide a further review.
We understand that moving home can be expensive and that deposit funds are important to tenants. Equally, landlords need to have confidence that their property is being properly looked after and that, where genuine costs arise from a tenancy, these are dealt with fairly and through the appropriate process.
As this review has been posted under an alias, we are unfortunately unable to identify the tenancy concerned and therefore cannot comment on the specific circumstances raised. We would be very happy to review the matter directly if the reviewer contacts us with the relevant tenancy details.
Our aim is always to provide a professional and balanced service that protects the interests of both landlords and tenants.

GoogleWe rented a flat with Martin & Co in Farnborough and honestly it was a very smooth and great experience.
I don't usually write a review but they truly deserve the recognition. The team was professional, helpful, fair and genuinely decent throughout the whole process. We never felt pressured or that things were simply about money, which is unfortunately not always the case with other letting agencies.
If we moved back to Farnboroug one day , we'll definitely rent through them, we can't recommend them enough.
A special thank you to the property manager Gemma Flurry ,who was always there helping and sorting out any issue. Her professionalism and kindness made a real difference.

I couldn't be more impressed with the service I received from the very start. I was a bit worried as I had not moved house for over 30 years, but I had no need to worry at all. Emmanuel and Catlin kept me informed throughout the whole process. I can highly recomend Martin and co.

GoogleI purchased a property through Martin & Co last Monday. On the morning of completion, I was informed by the agent that there had been a leak. We were supposed to move into our first home that day, but instead we found ourselves with nowhere to go.
The condition of the property was shocking, it looked abandoned, with green moss on the carpets and clear signs of long-term water damage. This was not disclosed to us in advance.
When I tried to raise my concerns, the lettings representative was extremely rude, saying she had “already wasted 20 minutes” on me and that the conversation was over. Considering that we have spent several hundred thousand pounds on this property, this dismissive attitude was completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, on several occasions we were told by Martin & Co that we were “ready to exchange” when we were not, creating unnecessary stress and confusion.
I cannot recommend Martin & Co based on my experience. They were unprofessional, misleading, and unwilling to provide basic customer service at a critical time.

Dear David,
I am sorry to read of your disappointment and the distress caused by the situation you encountered after completion. We fully appreciate how upsetting it must have been to discover the damage that had occurred in the property, and it is certainly not an outcome anyone would have wished for.
It is important to clarify a few points. The property was vacant throughout the conveyancing process, and during that time we were not managing it or carrying out inspections. Unfortunately, we were unaware of the internal leak until after completion. As estate agents, responsibility for the property during that period does not sit with us.
Your solicitor strongly advised you to arrange a final inspection before exchange of contracts. This is a routine but important step designed to ensure a buyer is satisfied with the property’s condition before committing. We would have willingly arranged such a visit at no cost, but you declined to take this advice. This decision is key to understanding how matters later unfolded.
Following completion, you and a family member attended our office to raise your concerns. We did meet with you and took the time to listen. However, it was during this meeting that the discussion became heated on your side, which placed colleagues, including staff who had not been involved in the sales process, in a very difficult position. I want to be clear that our staff remained professional throughout and sought to explain the limits of our role, even in challenging circumstances.
We do not accept that we acted in a misleading or unprofessional manner at any stage of the transaction. That said, we genuinely regret the circumstances you found yourself in and the distress this caused.
I wish you well in the future and remain saddened that the purchase ended on such an unfortunate note.
Kind regards,
James Wiggins

GoogleFrom start to finish, Martin and Co were flawless and efficient with how they handled the let and the time frame in which it was executed. My friend recently became a council tenant owing to his disability and quite honestly most letting agents we approached just shut him down. Jacob showed him his property of interest without any hesitation. He contacted him afterwards, as he said he would, and when the offer was accepted by the landlord- he kept him updated at all times throughout. There was a bit of a kerfuffle with misinformation from the council which involved Richard dealing with part of the let and he too just effortlessly got this over the line. At times we also spoke with Muhammad at the office and everyone throughout the process was polite and helpful. They truly provided a caring and efficient service. Thank you so much for your understanding as your open mind saved my friend becoming homeless. 🙏🏻

GoogleWe had booking with these guys and went to view a property on 12th Feb in Aldershot where the agent jamie who was showing us property told us we can park on the estate where property was. We did as he said, viewed property and now we got a parking ticket. On contacting martin and co about the ticket we been told that its our responsibility that we have to pay the fine because there was sign all over development and we are responsible where we park the car. I was forced to pay the fine. I would like to inform all buyers and sellers please do not go forward with this company. That was a very bad business. Tricking people. The whole company should be ashamed.

Dear Amrish,
Thank you for your review.
As you know, Jamie completely refutes your claim. You arrived at the property early before Jamie had got there and, unbeknown to Jamie at the time, had already parked your vehicle in a permit holders space, despite there being signs everywhere saying "Permit Parking Only". It was only after you informed us that you had received a ticket in the post that we became aware. We did offer at the time to pay 50% of the ticket value as a gesture of good will but did not hear back from you making this review all the more surprising.
