TrustpilotExcellent service
We recently sold our house with the Cheadle branch and our experience can only be described as excellent. All the staff were amazing and so professional and helpful and always went the extra mile for . Nothing was to much trouble for them. We mainly dealt with Sharon who was fantastic and really cared about getting everything sorted to make the move happen for us. I always felt that she genuinely cared about us and made us feel at ease.

TrustpilotThe house was a health hazard
We moved into a rental property managed by this estate agent last week, and it has been the worst experience we’ve ever had with an estate agent.
Before moving in, it was agreed that the property would receive a deep clean and the carpets would be professionally cleaned. When we arrived, the house was absolutely filthy. The cleaning was so bad that we found a mouldy toilet paper roll left on the floor, and the kitchen was so unhygienic it was genuinely a health hazard. It was in such a poor state that we couldn’t even unpack our belongings.
We had several family members helping us move, and the entire day was a complete waste because the property simply wasn’t fit to move into.
After reporting the issue, they sent the cleaning company back three days later. They were only there for around 20 minutes and cleaned very little. The property was still disgusting afterwards, leaving us to spend two full days cleaning the house ourselves just to make it liveable. That is completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, the carpet cleaning was never carried out. The carpets are stained with food and other marks and clearly need a professional clean. The estate agent has now refused to arrange this, telling us to sort it out ourselves or contact the landlord. The landlord has already confirmed he paid the estate agent for the cleaning, so this should never have become our responsibility.
The photos speak for themselves. The lack of preparation, poor communication, and refusal to put things right have made this an incredibly disappointing experience. I would not recommend this estate agent to anyone.

TrustpilotPoor Communication and Organisation
Unfortunately I did not have a positive experience with the Macclesfield branch.
I approached them in May 2026 to market my property, a terrace in the town centre. They were initially responsive to me and organised a valuation very quickly.
The photos were arranged reasonably quickly, but I had to chase them after their initial deadline passed to get the brochure and listing ready. It was then posted on Rightmove, Zoopla, and OnTheMarket.
In the meantime, I had agreed to an initial meeting with their mortgage advisor but somehow they mixed up my details and were phoning someone else with the same name - and they shared some of my details with the wrong person. There was no apology for this.
Using their app, I could see that my home had many views on Rightmove however this did not translate into viewings. After a couple of weeks I was contacted about a viewing and agreed to it despite it being on a day I had initially said I couldn't do, as the agent on the phone was quite pushy about it being this particular day. When the agent arrived it was someone who had never been to the property before and she was unprepared.
After no feedback or offer from the viewing, and no further viewings, I sent an email to the office to ask their advice as to how to generate some interest in the property. Someone called me back and left a voicemail, which I returned and was told they were unavailable but would call me back. They did not. I followed up via email, twice, to no response. In the intervening period I went into their office and found my property was not being advertised physically in the shop.
I therefore gave notice to the agent, which they are supposed to acknowledge. After a follow up email 2 days later, I phoned them 4 days after the initial notice was given to be told they couldnt find the notice letter in their inbox. Somehow it was then found but acknowledged with the wrong dates on it, so I had to phone again to get it adjusted.
The date the house was supposed to be withdrawn from market came and went. The house wasnt taken off the market, so I had to chase this up with them, too, until it was actioned. They have also not arranged to provide me my spare key back.
Overall, this was not a good experience. I understand the housing market is not fast moving at present however the communication and organisation of this estate agent was severely lacking in my experience.

Hi my name is Catherine
I just want to let you know the most positive experience I had with this company. If you are in any dought who you should go with, this is the company. My experience was 100 out of 100 exceptional service. Adam Sharon and George the team at Heaton moor office. I mostly dealt with Sharon, and to be honest I use to call her my little sister. She was truly amazing as were all the staff. They went beyond to make my experience go as smoothly as possible. I cannot express my heartfelt gratitude for what they did at a difficult time selling my mother’s property. I was not just another customer to them, they truly did care and their professionalism was outstanding. The first few moments of meeting Adam I knew this was who I wanted to sell my mother’s property.
Trust this company, you want be disappointed
Thank you for everything you did

We recently sold our house through Gascoigne Halman in Glossop. We couldn't be happier with the service we received from the whole team. Everyone was friendly, professional and always willing to help. A special thank you to Chloe who was very efficient and supportive throughout the process. We would highly recommend this estate agent to anyone looking to sell their home.

TrustpilotFriendly professional Team
I found the team at Altrincham very professional and friendly. I had lived in my house for 27 years, so I found the whole process really stressful, especially when the first purchaser pulled out of the sale at the last minute. My house sold again straight away, and one member of staff in particular Joanne was very knowledgeable and reassuring, she was always willing to compromise and listened to any concerns I had, which was more than my solicitors did. I would use them again without hesitation. Thank you Jo x

TrustpilotHorrible Experience for first time buyer
I had a very disappointing experience buying through the Altrincham office, which would put me off using them again in the future. The whole process took 7.5 months and, while the delays were not Gascoigne Halman’s fault, the way the situation was handled made the experience extremely negative. I was made to feel as though I was in the wrong for asking for clarity by Gascoigne Halman ( Missing documents, lease info, incorrect parking space talked about for months) , and I felt pressured to complete even though my solicitors were advising me not to, i.e. I was called. at 3.45 on Friday saying that if I didnt complete by EOD the seller would put the house on the market. At this point we discrepencies between the sellers documents and the land registry . Overall, this resulted in a very unpleasant experience as a first-time buyer.
Even on the day I collected the keys, there was no congratulations from Gascoigne Halman, one agent would not even pick up her head, and the agents seems to purposely not put the bottle of Prosecco normally given, which further tainted what should have been a positive moment. Their lack of knowledge about the property was also concerning, particularly as I had viewed another property in the same block with Thornley Groves, who were extremely knowledgeable.
I was also unhappy with the way I was treated personally. On one viewing, when I asked to view the property with only the agent present so I could talk freely ( Property was empty with nobody living in it ), I was made to feel uncomfortable by a member of staff who I felt encouraged the seller to attend instead, stay and did not like me asking questions. After completing and receiving the full email records (accidentally to my solicitor ), I discovered this had been done deliberately, with the suggestion that having the seller present “might make me complete quicker,” despite the fact that we were still missing the full and complete lease at that point.
I would not recommend this agent to first-time buyers, as the way my purchase was handled completely tainted what should have been an exciting experience.

I had the pleasure of working with Ella from Gascoigne Halman to sell my house, and I couldn’t be more impressed. She went above and beyond throughout the entire process, dealing with multiple issues quickly and professionally. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and her communication was excellent from start to finish.
Ella made what could have been a stressful experience incredibly smooth, and her commitment and dedication genuinely stood out. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell, and I would absolutely use her again in the future.
Thanks again, Ella!

Trustpilot100% recommend Gascoigne Halman Glossop!
We recently bought our first home through Gascoigne Halman in Glossop, and the whole experience was incredible thanks to Karen and the team. As first-time buyers, we honestly didn’t know where to start, but they explained every step so clearly and made the process feel straightforward and stress-free.
Karen was always available to answer our (many!) questions and nothing was ever too much trouble. She made us feel genuinely cared for, not just like another customer, and really gave us that personal touch from the very first viewing right through to completion.
A special mention also to Danielle, our mortgage broker, who was just as supportive and approachable. Both of them went above and beyond for us, whether it was chasing solicitors, setting out clear deadlines, or just keeping us reassured when things felt overwhelming.
We felt like part of the Gascoigne family, and we’re so grateful for how smooth and enjoyable they made what could have been a stressful process. We’d 100% recommend Gascoigne Halman (and especially Karen and Danielle) to anyone buying or selling a home.

TrustpilotTerrible communication
I would try to steer clear of this company if possible. We have rented a property through this agency and it has been a nightmare. Communication is horrendous, you cannot get hold of anyone at all. We even went into the branch about our queries and still were told that no one was available and someone would contact us (which they didn’t). The property was not ready for us to move into on the agreed date and we were not told about this until we chased and chased about needing more info on moving in.
Since moving in, we have had a few problems, none which have been resolved and again communication and trying to get hold of anyone is impossible!
Good luck if you are renting through this agency. I would not use them again!

TrustpilotAbsolutely horrendous experience
Do NOT recommend Didsbury - my experience has been one of unprofessionalism and downright unethical practice. Told flat would be cleaned. It wasn’t. Didn’t bother to clear previous tenant electric debt. Infested by hornets and ended up in ED. Mould and damp everywhere. Boiler loose on wall. Downstairs tenant said he had had to pay for dehumidifiers and mould treatment himself. Consider saving yourself a lot of grief.

Trustpilotgascoigne halman sale
Please do yourself a favor and avoid this agency.
I relocated from Liverpool a week ago, expecting the property to be habitable. Unfortunately, I encountered a series of major defects, including no proper heating, plumbing issues, and serious cleanliness problems, the driveway was full of moss and mold. Additionally, there were rats in the garden, an issue previously reported by neighbors and past tenants but never addressed.
Relocating is already stressful, but dealing with these unresolved problems, especially after being misinformed about the rat infestation, made it even worse. I was told there were no rats, yet they were still present in the garden.
The agents are polite when speaking, but despite my repeated calls and reports since day one, they have taken no action to resolve these serious issues.

TrustpilotAbsolutely terrible experience with…
Absolutely terrible experience with this letting agent. After the landlord withdrew an agreed offer, we were left out of pocket and still have not had our deposit returned. Communication has been poor throughout, with constant delays and little accountability. We felt completely unsupported and ignored when trying to resolve the issue fairly. I would strongly advise others to be very cautious before dealing with this agency. They tried to make us send them thousands of pounds with no contract given then last minute withdrew the offer and are refusing to give the deposit back. Absolutely dreadful agency.

TrustpilotExceptional estate agent
We recently sold our previous house and purchased our new home through Gascoigne Halman in Stockton Heath and we were delighted with the service we received throughout.
We had considered moving house for a few months but were waiting for the right house to become available. We found one through Gascoigne Halman and we were very impressed with how they handled our enquiry and subsequent viewing, and we then decided to appoint them as our selling agent.
We initially met with the Branch Manager, Adam Ravenscroft, who visited our previous home and appraised fairly and professionally.
Once we had found a buyer, we dealt with Dawn Connors who is undoubtedly a massive credit to the business. She was extremely responsive and helpful, and was very proactive in ensuring that the transaction proceeded in a timely manner. We feel she went above and beyond on a number of occasions, consistently liaising with all parties and assisting our solicitors.
Estate agents can occasionally get a bad name and we have dealt with a couple in Stockton Heath that we were less than impressed with, but Gascoigne Halman are absolutely a cut above the rest. We wouldn't consider going to any other estate agent moving forward. Thank you Adam and Dawn for your help throughout.

TrustpilotExcellent throughout
Absolutely excellent from start to finish of the house sale - one local agent kept phoning to see if we 'had come to a decision to market the property' which lost them any business, whereas GH did the visit to see the place and then said they'd leave us alone and it was up to us to give it the go-ahead or not. No pestering - excellent. Once we gave them the thumbs-up we had a string of viewers within days, and eventually exceeded the guide price by a small margin which suggests the guide price was accurate too. The staff at Gascoigne Halman were always on hand and worked brilliantly, especially Georgia who made sure everyone was kept in touch with any and all news and developments as things progressed, resulting in a sale a fortnight before Christmas which was exactly what buyers and sellers wanted. I would heartily recommend this outift.

TrustpilotThey won’t return your deposit!
I had a very disappointing experience with Gascoigne Halman, particularly in how they handle tenant concerns versus landlord interests.
From the very beginning of the tenancy, we raised multiple issues regarding lack of proper hot water and an inadequate boiler system. We repeatedly contacted the agency, explaining that the hot water was not functioning properly and that the system required constant manual adjustment just to get basic hot water. This not only caused inconvenience for a family with children but also significantly increased our electricity costs due to repeated heating cycles.
Despite clear communication and follow-ups, no effective action was taken to resolve the issue.
Now, at the end of the tenancy, instead of fairly assessing the situation, the agency has aligned entirely with the landlord and is attempting to make unreasonable deductions from our deposit, including claims that are not properly supported with evidence.
It is particularly concerning that:
• Longstanding maintenance issues (including hot water problems) were not addressed
• Property condition issues such as damp were ignored during tenancy
• Yet, at check-out, these are being indirectly used against the tenant
This gives a clear impression that the agency prioritises landlords’ interests while failing to fairly represent or support tenants, even when legitimate concerns are raised during the tenancy.
I would strongly advise prospective tenants to:
• Document everything
• Follow up in writing
• Be cautious when dealing with deposit deductions
Unfortunately, this experience has shown a lack of balance, accountability, and fairness in how tenant matters are handled.

TrustpilotPoor service and disappointing behaviour after tenancy agreement
After completing our tenancy with Gascoigne halman. Despite leaving the property in what we believed to be a clean and acceptable condition. We received a £550 deposit claim, including charges for cleaning (£250), decoration and painting (£150), and a radiator leak (£115). I have rented this apartment for 1 year. When we first moved into the property, it was in poor condition and had a noticeable odour. We raised this with the agency several times, but no action was taken.

TrustpilotOur house move experience with Gascoigne Halman Wilmslow
We moved house earlier this year as did our elderly parents and the service we received from Gascoigne Halman in Wilmslow particularly James Coppock was superb. His calm professional manner really helped us through a stressful time and he is excellent at negotiating. Anytime we had to ring the office and ask questions all our calls were returned and Lucy Kershaw was always pleasant and very helpful. TrustpilotAwful management and communication
As per all the other negative reviews - terrible communication - poorly written emails, unprofessional in manner and just awful to deal with. From moving into property, water pressure issues and constant cold showers. After months of back and forth was told (by a manager) 'oh well you are on a rolling contract, so you can just find another property' as appose to just having the issue fixed? Turns out it was a pump needed for the boiler, and of course the landlord did not want to pay as it was 'expensive'. It wasn't. Paying over a grand a month for no hot showers and terrible management is expensive. Clearly they prioritise landlords and not tenants. We left as suggested and do not recommend for renting at all - save your self the stress and sour puss faces.

TrustpilotHighly recomment Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield
After 3 aborted sales with Purple Bricks which consumed 14 stressful months due to lack of support, wrong price, no vetting of purchasers, etc., etc. I decided to use Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield to sell our house. Within 1 week Matthew Clark and his team had vetted a new purchaser who was right for our property, truly had the funds, and was highly likely to follow through to completion (which they did).
I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman enough for their proactive advice and follow-up, aiding the purchaser and keeping me informed. I found them friendly and easy to communicate with. No waiting for someone to answer the phone for inquiries and prompt replies on email. When the exchange of contacts and completion time came, they helped pressure crucial solicitor communication so that we met the target dates keeping me (the seller) and the purchaser happy. I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield enough. Thanks, folks, you deserve the credit, and will be using you again for another property sale.
