After viewing with them, I would never put my property on the market with them. They were late, untidy, knew nothing about the property and told me things that should have been private to the vendor.

Rouge letting agent

Do not go anywhere near this so called business.. I did hear bad things about them.. but I did not think it could be that bad.. well I was very wrong.. my own experience was just terrible.. maintenance issues raised were totally ignored by one particular arrogant and condescending member of staff that acted as though the property was theirs during inspections.. they have lied and not told the landlord of any issues.. then issued an eviction notice just so they could cash in on their ridiculous moving out fees before they become illegal.. please beware it’s just not worth it!!!

Be very careful with this company

Be very careful with this company. Their contract is very onerous, ask them before you sign, if the contract is the same as other Chester agents. Ask your solicitor to look over the contract before you sign. Remember if you decide to leave the contract when it finishes they will become threatening and belligerent. Finally, ask them how many customers they have threatened with legal action in the last 2 years.

Communication is poor, leave you upto months before things can be repaired, and wait until you want your security deposit back, they charge you in any way possible so you don’t get it all back, they don’t take wear and tear into consideration, will never ever be using this company again

In 2016 I rent a house with Thomas Property Group, the landlord was coming into my house without notice, break my brand new wardrobe..etc.I contact Thomas to have a conversation with the landlord and they refused , absolutely ignore me even if in the contract was saying the landlord cannot come to your house without you letting know, I wrote a negative feedback on Thomas and at the end of my contract I WAS CONTACTED BY ONE OF THE MANAGERS TO DELETE THE MESSAGE IF I WANT MY DEPOSIT BACK. You, people who want to rent with Thomas judge now.

A family friend made the mistake of working with this company. Under no circumstances should you deal with these people. IMHO they are sharks. Do yourself a favour and run a mile. If they present an argument to you demanding money against performance of contract go straight to Trading Standards or get a lawyer to advise you.

Ad hoc approach to customer service. Please beware of the opaque sales contract this business uses, as the propriter will use it to extract unfair charges at every opportunity. Thankfully there are plenty of alternative sales and letting agents to choose from in the Chester region. Don’t believe the hype on their website the marketing data referencing their “Best in Class” performance is over 3 years old.

So when it came to moving out after 6 months I expected to receive my deposit almost immediately due to my experience with other estate agents, this was not the case, it took over a month. I have experience with others such as Passion for Property where I got the FULL refund just 1 week later. Just to move out I got charged a rediculous amount: - £102 to move out of the property ('Paperwork') - £125 for works to be done (2 light bulbs and batteries for a smoke alarm) - £48 for the incovenience to them of picking up the phone to call the contractor - £170 for the cleaning charges (TAKE NOTE: They first said it would cost £250 and I argued to provide the receipt and it was reduced to £170) Total: £445 Absolutely ridiculous and I urge you to stay away.

Excellent service for local landlords, and from speaking with my tenants, they have all had a really positive experience with the Thomas team as well. Efficient, responsive and a real understanding of the Chester market

Couldn't fault the service received from everyone at Thomas property group in Chester, the rental process was extremely efficient and easy. Would highly recommend this company to anyone moving to Chester, as they didn't just help with my property, but also the social aspect of moving to a new city. Faultless.

Should have read the reviews first! Was not aware of the hidden charges, for example the "move out fee" of £85. On top of that, they do not have an emergency line of contact, for example when your 1st floor toilet floods the living room in the middle of the night! But the biggest hassle was when the built in fridge broke down. Only part of it was working and it barely held our products cool. Had to throw lots of stuff away... it was not fixed until the date we moved out. (that was 4 months since we flagged the fridge problem) Each time we called the agency, they told it's either already ordered or they will ask the landlord what he wants to do.. Although, we knew that the landlord had given the green light to replace the fridge! When our tap in the kitchen broke - no one bothered to fix it, we told about the problem several times over a period of 3 months. Overall - very unpleasant experience.

Having owned Investment property throughout the UK in my 30 years as a landlord, it is safe to say that Thomas Property Group is far better at letting and managing my Chester properties than any of my other agent around the UK. Their attention to detail, speed of finding new tenants, and general desire of all the staff to help is second to none. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Have had a really good experience with Thomas - anyone who thinks they have 'hidden' fees hasn't read their tenancy agreements properly! The fees were upfront and laid out clearly - the agents helped me understand everything, and were really patient showing me lots of variety and advising on best location for me. Will use them again and have recommended to friends.

As the owner of several businesses - one being a property portfolio - I put customer service at the very top of my priority list. Unfortunately Thomas Property Group appear to place it at the bottom of their list. When their representative failed to appear for a viewing and I had the audacity to complain, a very supercilious elderly gentleman put the phone down on me. Unforgivable in any circumstances. I shall now be taking my property searches elsewhere and would suggest others do the same.

A lot of problems with police and former tenants. The estate agency did little to resolve the issue despite it being a managed let. In the end we had to terminate our tenancy and lose money on the rental but it wasn't right having our children getting woken up in the very early hours by the police. I'd not recommend this agency at all. By the way, they threatened to sue me if I placed this review.

Be careful

Our family took a tenancy out with this firm for no insignificant amount. Appears there was problems with the former tenants and we had the police frequently visiting in the early hours. It was a managed let but this firm plus the landlord refused to help out at all. In the end we had to terminate the tenancy at a loss as our young children where noticing the police, so too the neighbours. This firm threatened us that they would sue if we left reviews on this. We are on super high incomes and more than happy to share our experience.

These guys are quite expensive for tenants. They charged me £75 to renew for 6 months and £95 to renew for 12 months and don't actually do anything. They also charge £85 for checking out of a property. Make sure you thoroughly read any agreements before signing them as it is all in there in the small print.

Very Poor

We have used this letting agent without checking any review and it was a mistake. Service was very poor and communication was very "shabby" with honesty clearly not a top priority. We tried to get the landlord name and address only to have been given 3 different names as representative? We had a leak in the house and after 4 months that was still unresolved. Best part being when we left we were charged for the water damage of the leak but they were unable to provide any invoice? Overall I would suggest that you use someone else as there is much better in Chester.
