Unfortunately, my experience with Key Residential has been extremely disappointing. I submitted a formal Stage 1 complaint on 7 May 2026 concerning serious issues relating to the management of my tenancy, communication, property management and proposed possession proceedings. More than three months later, I am still waiting for a formal response, despite following up on multiple occasions. During this time, I have had to contact relevant external organisations and compile a substantial dossier of correspondence and evidence simply to try to have these matters properly addressed. Most recently, I contacted Key Residential again and provided a clear deadline for a response before escalating my complaint to The Property Ombudsman. That deadline has now passed and, at the time of writing, I have not even received an acknowledgement of my latest email. Regardless of the eventual outcome of a complaint, tenants should reasonably be able to expect clear and timely communication, appropriate record keeping, and for a formal complaint to be acknowledged, investigated and responded to within a reasonable timeframe. After almost ten years as a tenant, I genuinely did not expect to find myself having to pursue matters to this extent simply to obtain a response to a formal complaint. I have made repeated attempts to resolve these concerns directly and have allowed more than three months for Key Residential to respond. Unfortunately, based on my experience of both the management of my tenancy and the handling of my complaint, I cannot recommend Key Residential.

Very unprofessional company. They go ahead and process the first person to submit an application form therefore stopping anyone else from applying. They don’t even check with the landlord if they want to go ahead with the tenant before taking a holding deposit. We missed out on a great flat because of this. I’ve worked in lettings and you don’t do this - you check with the landlord before proceeding and you give them more than one tenant to chose from! Then they discriminated against a family member because they’re retired - don’t even bother to ring back to arrange a viewing - who are they do decide they couldn’t afford it? Do retired people not deserve somewhere to live? So unprofessional.

Key residential and Richard at Hoylake cottage are actively discriminating against disabled and vulnerable tenants and are currently attempting to evict me because of medical cannabis prescription which is protected under the disability and equality act 2010. After serving a full disclosure of my disability, medical prescription, paperwork, evidence of legality they then said they would email the landlord at hoylake cottage for a formal response. This was on August 12th 2025 and as of today, 13/01/2026 I have still not had any reply or acknowledgement 5 months later. Key residential are actively breaking the law and discriminating against me due to protected medical characteristics and disabilities. What they are doing is negligent, unprofessional and illegal. I have evidence of this via email where they said they would get a response and then 5 months later nothing. Medical cannabis when used with a prescribed nebulising device is exempt from smoking or vaping bans in properties as it is a medical device. This same device and medication has been sucessfully brought into places such as police stations and airports. Richard at hoylake cottage said it was 'drugs and smoking' which is wrong and can be proven wrong legally. The home office approved the use of medical cannabis for medical purposes in 2018 and the resheduling can be found on the gov website. The eviction is being contested in court at the time I type this and the discrimination has been noted during the hearing at Birkenhead County Court.
