GoogleMarius and Tracy at John Hilton were the selling agent for the house we've just bought, and the house its owner was buying - they were warm, friendly and personable throughout and on top of the entire chain behind and beyond us, checking on progress and keeping us up-to-date - conveyancing is often nerve wracking and we really appreciated being kept in the loop throughout - we were all kept on our toes, but never felt uncomfortable or pushed, and we really appreciate the focus they had on getting a dream property purchase over the line for us.

GoogleBoth Marius and Tracey are really honest, personable and straight talking. This is really refreshing and they made the house buying process a pleasure. They were always there on the end of the phone when they were needed and helped calm everybody down whenever things got hairy acting as excellent mediators. Highly recommended!

GoogleHaving used John Hilton for my last tenancy I would not recommend them. They show a lack of interest in dealing with complaints, always passing it off as nothing to do with them. The property 76a Bonchurch Road should be avoided at all costs. I lived there for 15 months without missing rent and was still evicted with no reason. Landlord then added insult by not dealing with the release of the deposit in a timely fashion, even stating " It will get sorted when it gets sorted". DO NOT USE THIS AGENT.

I am aware that the relationship between yourself and your landlady has unfortunately broken down. I understand your frustration however, this is not in any way connected to John Hiltons LTD as we do not and have never managed the property in question. Your security deposit is protected by the DPS and as such there is a time frame and rules which apply to the scheme which are in place to protect you as a tenant. I appreciate that you are annoyed with your landlady but her correspondence is totally unrelated to John Hiltons LTD and your frustration with our company is unwarranted. We work very hard to bring excellent service to our landlords and tenants alike and feel under the circumstances your review is harsh, unfair and misdirected

GoogleJohn Hiltons have managed all our houses in Brighton for many years. All the people in the office are brilliant and very helpful and professional. We have never had an issue and would unreservedly recommend them to anyone. Well done all of you.

GoogleHaving dealt with John Hilton as a guarantor for my son who rented a property through the agency and was a student at Brighton University I would never recommend or use this agency again. Despite paying the agency a signing on fee every year for 4 years and an exit fee - the agency have done nothing but put everything in the hands of the landlord. There was a change over of 3 tenants in 2014 and no check-in/check-out inspection was carried out and now on leaving the property the landlord is trying to charge the new/replacement tenants for items that were never there! We were assured that John Hilton would act as an independent arbitrator between the tenants and the landlord. So far all they have done is pass our letter of dispute regarding the deposit return to the landlord who almost 3 weeks on has not even had the decency to respond and John Hilton have done nothing. According to the e-mail with the deposit return charges if we had a dispute it would be re-assessed! We have been left high and dry with no support/effort from the agency and have no choice now but to go independently to 'My Deposit'. I would recommend avoiding this agency at all costs. Unhelpful, and despite taking their fees they have done nothing .

Dear Mr Powell, I am sorry that you feel abandoned by John Hiltons, this was not our intention. Without making excuses our role with this property was to facilitate the paperwork side of things only as the landlord himself manages this property, including the checking of his property between tenancies. The security deposit is held by John Hiltons in a client account and we’d like to make it clear that we are not party to any proposed deductions allocated to the security deposit, these come from the landlord only. Our first correspondence from the lead tenant disputing charges was received on 12th September and this email was immediately sent to the landlord for his response. The response from the landlord said he was on holiday until 19th September and would reply on his return, this was promptly relayed to the lead tenant. On the 23rd September the lead tenant’s email was sent again to the landlord and we informed the tenants that this was followed up. The first correspondence received from the landlord was this morning and was forwarded immediately to the lead tenant. The landlord’s slow response is infuriating for both of us, however as an agent we are stuck in the middle and cannot return a deposit without the landlords prior permission. When landlords drag their heels we advise tenants to raise a formal dispute with the Alternative Dispute Resolution team at my|deposits as this provokes a response. Unfortunately the landlords first reply came in this morning! John Hiltons are happy to liaise for both parties but our thoughts are not binding, this can only be decided by the ADR. We can assure you that we hold the deposit and if a dispute is raised then all of the tenants money will be sent to my|deposits for the fair adjudication of the dispute. Apologies again that responses have dragged, unfortunately some things are out of our control. Kind regards Jo-Ann Stafford Lettings Manager

GoogleMy experience with Hiltons, Marius, Tracy and all the staff was no less than excellent from the outset. They have made the potentially stressful event of selling my much loved home a virtual breeze. I had confidence in them throughout, and have been much impressed with their consistent clear communication, understanding and support that they have provided. I would/will recommend them to anyone. GoogleI'm a first year and John Hilton have been so lovely with us, if anything goes wrong in the house we're letting someone within two days comes round to fix it. I've recommended them to all my friends and I'm staying in one of their lettings again for second year.

GoogleJohn Hilton have been the best letting agents that I have come across in 8 years of private renting. Their communication is outstanding through every stage of the renting process and seem to go above and beyond to help you as tenants. I would recommend them to any renter and would definitely rent under them again.

GoogleThe vendors are obviously John Hilton's clients but as the buyers, we felt just as valued. Enquires and a few problems were dealt with quickly and professionally. It's been a long time since we bought a house and it was reassuring to know that our agent, Tracy was so knowledgeable of the local area and the various things that needed to be done. A very positive experience.

GoogleJohn Hiltons were absolutely fantastic to deal with, they made the process of buying my first property almost stress free. Very responsive and really go the extra mile. Since completion Marius and team have continued to help with recommending tradesmen etc. I will definitely use them in the future! A special mention to Tracy for taking my daily frantic calls and emails and remaining calm at all times. Thank you!

GoogleMy boyfriend and I recently sold a flat through John Hilton and I could not recommend them more! John Hilton, in particular Marius and Tracy have been so extremely helpful. They are a straight up agency, no bull**** sales tactics. They offer you such a personal service and I am eternally grateful for the support they offered me throughout the time my flat was on the market. I was dealing with another difficult agent for the purchase of my new property and John Hilton were on hand to offer me any advice and were totally fine when I called them up freaking out. I cannot sing their praises enough in one review. They even spoke to the solicitors for the purchase of my new property on my behalf as I was unable to do it myself due to work commitments. My busy schedule meant I was not always prepared for viewings but they offered to arrive early and spruce the place up for me. They have been kind, professional, friendly and helpful as well as getting me way over the asking price quoted by other agents. I was nervous as this was my first experience selling a flat, a friend of mine works for another agency who I was going to market the property with but decided to go with John Hilton as they only use experienced sales agents to deal with the property. I was worried I had made the wrong decision as it is often the case that you are bombarded with the corporate rubbish but I am so pleased I trusted my instincts and stuck with them. I could not recommend them any more and will certainly return to them without a shadow of a doubt when I look to buy/sell my next property. If I could give a ten out of ten stars for this service I certainly would! Thanks to all of the team at John Hilton I couldn't have asked for more. :)

As I get older it is important to me to have an agent that I can trust to use good tradesmen, find good tenants and minimise my worry. John Hiltons tick all the boxes. In a crowded market, John Hiltons stand out for service, in my experience.

We had a problem with our tenants towards the end of the rental period and the staff at John Hiltons could not have handled the situation better.
