On this joyous day of exchanging contracts of my property in York, i would like to compliment Savills Estate agents and especially Charlotte Hemingway on her calm and efficient way of seeing this rather difficult sale over the line . I will not hesitate to recommend and use Charlotte and Savills in the future . Ian Gourlay

Jennifer @ Savills was excellent in overseeing the process. Clear communications, proactive and friendly. I felt very supported throughout and Jennifer was the first to pick up the phone if there was any queries or delays - which is hugely appreciated. Superb service from Savills.

The service the landlord received from…

The service the landlord received from the lettings manager at WH Brown Crystal Peaks branch in Sheffield is significantly concerning. The property lettings manager at Crystal peaks branch, was not aware of the legislation regarding property lettings. She failed to follow the codes of practice and the organisations legal responsibilities. The codes of practice for property lettings state that staff must have a good working knowledge of relevant lettings and property management related legislation and the law of contract. The lettings manager failed to serve a 24 hour notice to the tenants informing them that they had breached their contract by constantly refusing the agents access to the property. There was two big holes in the roof of the property clearly visible from the other side of the road of the property. The gable end was hanging off and it was dangerous. The property is an end terrace house and the neighbours have access to the pathway of the property to access their own property. The tenants denied the holes in the roof and the lettings manager refused to believe the landlord that there was two big holes in the roof when the landlord reported the holes in the roof, and she refused to go and take a look for herself. The landlord brought the relevant legislation to the lettings manager. The lettings manager still failed to act on the landlords request to serve a 24 hour notice in writing to the tenants, to enable the landlord to gain access to the property with a construction worker. The lettings manager at the Sheffield branch also reported that the branch did not have the keys to the property. This was despite the landlord having a receipt from the Sheffield branch proving that they had three sets of keys as requested. The keys were later found approximately a week later. The landlord eventually gained access to her property when the tenants finally moved out, two weeks before the bailiffs from the court were about to remove them from the property, and the check out inspection was eventually competed. The two big holes in the roof were visible from the loft. We could clearly see the sky, It is significantly concerning that the agent believed the tenants over the landlord, and furthermore she refused to check the property from the outside to see the the two big holes in the roof for herself. This is just two examples of the poor, unacceptable service that the landlord received from WH Brown. They are terrible and only want your money. I do not have enough time to write all their failings in this review.

Appalling service

Appalling service . . zero communication, poor photography, they are better off suited to the sub £200K market . . stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap approach

Charlotte, Jennifer, Tanya and the whole Savills York team helped us through a very difficult and protracted sales process and were incredibly supportive, tenacious and professional throughout. Highly recommended.

Rotherham branch

Our Estate agent Ellie from the Rotherham branch has been extremely helpful. She has answered every email and call and has always made herself available to answer any questions we have had. She made the house viewing very enjoyable had has walked us through every step of the application process. Ellie is a fantastic estate agent and a credit to the Rotherham branch

Never get back to you, no customer service

DEREHAM branch. Desperate to rent a property for my son and young family. Been on their waiting list. Contacted them on the day a suitable property was advertised (photos awaited). Asked for a viewing. Was advised it wasn't quite "live". We were reassured we would be contacted. Did not hear a thing. Then was told they have had an offer 'accepted' by the landlord. When I complained that we didn't stand a chance was told we could "still view" if we wanted because no money had changed hands yet. What would be the point. Waste of our time and theirs. Rubbish service. No care.

Savills managed the sale of my apartment in central York, Tanya and Jennifer were both very professional, friendly and easy to deal with, they achieved a strong price and gave very good advice before and during the sale process.

Rocco Tona and his team @ Hoddeson

Rocco Tona and his team at the Hoddesdon branch did an exceptional job during a very testing time in the industry. They helped me find new buyers as the increasing interest rates stifled sales. Supported me with all the info and patient understanding that I needed. We made it through to the end after a year of hard graft all round!! Thank you so much guys!🙏

Satisfied sellers

Lisa Dove, the Sales Progression Manager at WHBrown in Sudbury, Suffolk has been an enormous support to us in the rather protracted process of selling our 2-bedroomed flat. She is both highly professional and efficient, yet friendly and approachable and her input in liaising between our solicitor and that of the buyer has been much appreciated. Thank you Lisa!

Do not use this estate agent

Do not use this estate agent. They did not act in our interest and quite openly attempted to bully us into selling our property at well under the market value. We had a ridiculous offer, which they just expected us to take. Zero effort made to push the property after the offer.

Barnsley Branch.

Barnsley Branch.Part 1 of a 2 part review!(There is not enough word space on one review!)Valuation by Jack, promised me the world on a plate! Predicted 6-8 week sale time! I’d not to worry about losing the house I wanted by not having sold mine yet,“negotiation is their job, they will get me the house!!”Valued at £150 G, they can get me £160, no problem!!Sign right here!First Issue:Sequence (WHB solicitors) contacted us wanting our I.Ds & £150 immediately.I politely replied that we have our own solicitor thank you. WHB had instructed them to represent us & they started hounding us by phone & email for payment! Many people would be pushed into a corner here & think they don’t have a choice but unfortunately for them, I’m Not many people!!I told them that as already said,we have our own solicitor & since WHB had instructed them without our permission, they could take it up with them!”First introduction from the office staff, is Sam! Sam has worked for this company for 20 odd years,(she will constantly, inform you of that!) Sam thinks it’s her right, as a long standing employee of this company,to talk to you like sh**,speak down to you as though you’re thick, make a lot of sighing noices down the phone as though your a difficult child & make all your decisions for you!Firstly Sam informed me,in our very first conversation, that an offer had been made on our house but…“We” are not accepting it! “We” are wanting a first time buyer!! It was asking price & I expressly told her “we” as in me & my husband & NOT “we” as in me, my husband & her” would be accepting it, she then started to patronise me by telling me “You don’t understand the business of selling & buying property, there’s more to it than making & accepting offers!!”She said“Just because their nice people who view your house, you don’t have to sell to them!!” After telling her not to patronise me,she further went on to refuse to put an offer in on my behalf,on the property I wanted to buy & single handedly dismantled every promise Jack had made by telling me “I” had misunderstood him,Jack would “never” promise such things as securing my intended purchase, & a 6-8 week time frame just to get me signed up with the company!! (From that point,Jack no longer answers the phone to us & I later find out Sam is Jacks mummy!)Next,is my buyers,we exchanged numbers at the viewing (which I don’t recommend!) ringing me up,upset, husband hollering in the background because my estate agent has made his wife cry! (Twice this happened!)My buyers own complaints of WHB namely Sam and Danika, ranged from, being talked to like sh**,hounded with phone calls on all numbers provided, threatened that they would put the house back on the market if paperwork wasn’t returned that day!Threatening that if the office was to be inspected, & documentation they required from my buyer wasn’t present,my buyers would be in trouble with the authorities!! My buyers begged me to take my business elsewhere so they didn’t have to deal with WHB any further. I refused & my buyers pulled out!!!My buyers mortgage advisor even referred to them as William H Clowns! They said at the time,“after our experience with WHB,I now no longer want to buy a property! I’ve never know people so awful & an experience so stressful & upsetting!”I’m obviously upset now as well & I ring WHB to ask what the hells going on. I get Lily on the phone, she gives me a big speech about how professional WHB are, during this speech she called me Natalie 3 times! My name is Sarra! It took 6 days to get another buyer! A minuscule amount of time but a nightmare. I finally cottoned on that the viewings WHB booked for us & provided the names & back story of the viewers, they turned up!The viewings WHB booked & only provided a name,& told me (I don’t know their situation, someone else took the call!!) These we’re the No Shows! Or as I believe, the fake viewings made up by WHB to fake interest in the property after loosing me my buyer!Day 6 I rang WHB & got Danika,I told her I was considering changing estate agents or packing in the whole thing! Half hour later,Danika rings me,we’ve got an offer!! 15 G below asking but the buyer has sold, signed, completed on his property, staying with family so,No Chain!! (Remember that!!)We accepted,we didn’t want to lose our house purchase & no chain means quick sale!!!SO WRONG!!Week 12 I’m on the phone again to WHB,what’s going on etc Why’s this taking so long?Sam tells me,she’s just had my buyers ex wife on the phone asking the same thing, she’s eager to finalise as well. It’s my buyers, buyers that are holding things up!!!Remember when I accepted the offer??“buyer has sold, signed, completed on his property, & is staying with family” ??So Sam has just dropped them all init!I asked to speak to Danika, she’s unavailable!!!!tbc……

We used the Skegness branch

We used the Skegness branch. We found there was lack of communication in particular from the Branch manager. We received just one vendor care call in the whole 12 weeks. And when we gave notice there was no call from the Branch manager to ask why. Everything is done by email

Megan and the team at Mexborough are…

Megan and the team at Mexborough are absolutely brilliant. They are professional commumicaters. My purchase took over 8 months, I had a lot of ups and downs which was nothing to do with the team, I had to call the team many times and sometimes several times in a day within short time spells, but they attended my call each time and politely.....very professional. At no point did they make me feel I was bothering them unnecessarily and neglect my calls. BRILLIANT team. Thank you all, especially Megan.

Where do I start ? Amazing is a good word for Savills estate agent, in particular a young lady called Jennifer kendrew, she worked so hard to make our dream come true. We purchased a period Victorian cottage in York. Jennifer supported throughout our journey day and night, with late important updates, chasing and following up on any enquiries. Jennifer is an absolute credit to Savills, Thank you Jennifer !

If you have a preconception of estate agents, you’ll find Savills York have rewritten the cliché. We just sold our cottage through Savills York and we couldn’t recommend them more highly. The team there have their finger firmly on the pulse of our local housing market. They took the stress out of the what could have been a roller coaster of a sale for us. Professional, great communication and a personal level of service. Their costs were very reasonable. The reassuring texts and friendly catch ups made the whole transaction stressless and they really kept the sales momentum when things got quiet. Even when they were off sick with Covid they were still calling us to check in. It doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you so much Jen, Ed and the team at York

We cant recommend Savills York enough- we dealt with Tom, and as first time buyers, purchasing a property in a different part of the country to where we were currently renting, his patience and expertise were invaluable. Savills provide first class service, but on a personal level- it was great dealing with Tom direct, who was always responsive to my (many) questions, and guided us through the process with a calm efficiency that I doubt we would have found elsewhere. First class.

I've had an absolutely fabulous experience with Savills, York. Tom Smith was so good with us, the entire situation felt different to the other agents we've met. No pressure, no pushing, and the ethos of finding you a property that you'll actually be happy with and fit in is brilliant. Other agencies felt much more like they were just trying to sell you a property whether or not it seemed like the right overall choice. I ended up waiting to buy due to personal circumstances but I did quite honestly tell Tom and his team that when I buy it'll most likely be through Savills. I'd much rather have friendly, no-pressure and understanding conversations with estate agents than feeling from day one that I'm in a pressure cooker. Savills is really upfront and honest about everything and makes sure you know and have thought about the different potential options.

We have just sold a quirky property via Savills. Jennifer Kendrew was excellent to work with, she kept us fully informed throughout the entire process.
