GoogleUnfortunately, our experience with Persimmon Homes after moving into our new-build property has been consistently disappointing. Key issues include:
• Basic compliance failures, We discovered months after moving in that a required carbon monoxide alarm had never been installed. This was not identified at handover.
• Poor quality control at handover, The property was handed over in an unacceptable state of cleanliness, with debris and unfinished items left for us to deal with.
• Professional snagging met with resistance, After commissioning an independent professional snagging survey, engagement noticeably deteriorated once the snagging list was formally raised. Progress became slower and interactions more difficult rather than more constructive.
• Repeated missed or poorly managed appointments, Contractors failed to attend multiple scheduled visits, often with little or no notice, requiring us to take time off work unnecessarily.
• Lack of ownership and accountability, Issues were routinely downplayed or reframed instead of being addressed properly, even when supported by evidence.
• Inconsistent communication, We regularly had to chase for updates, responses were slow, and information provided was often contradictory.
• Reactive rather than proactive approach, Problems were only dealt with after repeated escalation, rather than being resolved through a professional aftercare process.
• Impact on homeowners not acknowledged, The stress, disruption, and time loss caused to us has not been meaningfully recognised.
We expected a far higher standard of aftercare and professionalism from a major national housebuilder. Based on our experience, Persimmon’s customer service falls well short of what buyers should reasonably expect when purchasing a new home.
The area and the people that live in it are lovely, and i do not wish to discourage anyone from moving here, but go in with your eyes wide open and armed with knowledge of your rights, their responsibilities, and who can mediate when things get difficult - NHBC, NHOS, trading standards etc.

GoogleIf the saying “a fish rots from the head” applies anywhere, it’s here. From senior management down to contractors, we’ve experienced negligence, disrespect, and a complete lack of accountability. The Head of Customer Care for Yorkshire, Ian, whose team’s repeated failures contributed directly to a miscarriage I suffered, never once spoke to me, yet saw fit to label me “rude,” a “bully,” and a “liar” in writing. His email showed no empathy, no responsibility, just deflection and denial.
Despite raising issue after issue, we’ve been ignored, lied to, and gaslit. Contractors failed to turn up on multiple pre-arranged visits, wasting our annual leave with no apology. Key works were missed entirely, then falsely marked as “complete.” On 11th July, several trades arrived to “fix” things, the results were poor, rushed, and in many cases made things worse.
Among the most appalling incidents:
• A contractor used our private bathroom without permission and left human faeces in the toilet. I was working from home at the time, and discovered it shortly afterward. When I reported this, I was basically told I must be lying, because Ian had “never heard of such a thing.”
• Workers entered upstairs without overshoes, ignoring clear instructions.
• Our dogs were nearly let out due to careless site behaviour.
• We were promised a deep clean before move-in, but the home was filthy. We had to clean it ourselves for over a week.
• Sharp nails were left on our driveway on multiple occasions, a clear safety hazard.
• Contractors smoked in our garden, left rubbish and building waste, and repeatedly interrupted me during work hours, despite clear guidance.
Worst of all, when we escalated these serious issues, including how it affected my health and pregnancy, Persimmon’s response was to accuse us of being a problem. No apology. No accountability. Just veiled threats that they’d withdraw support if we didn’t fall in line.
Both Site Managers, Mark and Ryan, have demonstrated a complete lack of control over contractors, or worse, are simply unwilling to act. The repeated no-shows, poor workmanship, and absence of proper coordination feel like deliberate tactics to wear us down, so we give up and fix the remaining 170 issues ourselves.
This has been one of the most stressful, traumatic experiences of our lives. If you value your mental wellbeing, your physical health, or your dignity as a customer, do not make the same mistake we did.
Persimmon Homes has shown us what it truly means to be abandoned by those who promised “care” and delivered chaos.
