Having recently sold a property through the Windermere office I can highly recommend the team. Jack Irwin placed the property on the market and Nicola Clark did an excellent job managing both sets of solicitors and keeping me informed of and progress…or lack of. The lawyers were prone to “radio silence” however Nicola was aware of any blockages. Nicola was always calm and accurate which enabled me to work better with my solicitor in keeping them focused. I’ve sold a number of properties in recent years and this was by far the smoothest experience.

Exceptional service from first contact to completion. Communication with Nicola, Jack and Jenna was outstanding. Living outside the UK, in a different time zone was not a problem, their quick email responses, efficiency and help with additional requests made the whole process stress free. Having bought and sold quite a few properties throughout England over the decades, I always thought that estate agents were paid handsomely in proportion to their usual level of effort. That was until I bought a property in Ambleside marketed by Matthew Benjamin in 2013. The key to a good agent is to make the buyer feel that the agent is working for them and to make the seller feel that the agent is working for them! I had no hesitation in instructing Matthew Benjamin to sell my property 8 years later and I was delighted to be speaking with the same individuals. They know the local market and priced my property accordingly. I had 8 viewings booked in less than a week! And in the middle of a pandemic. I accepted an offer of the asking price less than a week after placing on the market. Impressive. Over to the lawyers to sort the documentation, searches and other such shananigans that take FORVER, shrouded in mystery and without any notion of urgency. That is until Janet from Matthew Benjamin cracks the whip! That lady left no stone unturned and chased, hounded, telephoned, badgered both legal teams almost daily and kept seller (and buyer) fully up to date. The beauty of using knowledgable local agents really paid dividends. The local search uncovered a 20 year old planning certificate where the property name was ‘wrong’, sending lawyers in to a spin. Janet found sale particulars from when Matthew Benjamin had sold the property in late 1990s evidencing the former name... lawyers calmed. I never write reviews but I’m so impressed with the excellent service from the team at Matthew Benjamin, particularly Janet, I wanted to share my experience which was not just better than my experience of other estate agents but in a whole different league! I have no doubt that without Janet constantly badgering the lawyers and keeping the communication between buyer and seller alive, the legal process would have taken at least twice as long!

Getting our house to 'sale agreed' took quite a long time. There were times during this phase when we'd have appreciated a bit more proactive communication from Matthews Benjamin but in truth the delay was largely attributable to the conditions of the local housing market. Once we had 'sale agreed' however communication from the office was exactly what we needed, thanks to Nicola (who was great) we were kept fully up-to-date with the sale process.
