Yes - sold our property - but then that was it

Yes - they sold our property - however thats the easy part. During the sales process they did very little, to the point the onward estate agents in the chain did the majority of the work, and without them I am unsure it would have even happened. Nice enough staff, but maybe need to focus on not just winning business and helping those in the process

real lack of service/ communication

awful, I have been trying to speak to someone from the sales team for months. they say the same script every time I call "this is lettings, leave your details and sales will call you back". They never do. I actually want to purchase a property, why wont they talk to me? I can see the property just sitting there and every time I ask if it's still available they say it is. But I never get further than that with them.

UPDATED: The Property Ombudsman did find they breach and ignored all client instructions. Thier agents were allowing poeole to record vidoes inside my property despite my repeated requests to not do so. Dexters have been asked to compensate me (by the ombudsman) for the breaches - which Dexters have dragged their feet over asking me to email them over my bank details! Still not received the payment as they refuse to take details over the phone! Had to update this review from years ago, It gets worse. Avoid them given the non-existent service when things go wrong! I am speaking as a landlord who let property through them for almost over 2yrs and I have seen both sides - how they treat tenants and landlords and not very differently! I experienced their back office processes too. Having tried few and been in the area for a while, I think this is one of the worst agencies in the area. I suggest you avoid the headache look elsewhere. Even some of the larger competitors (you can guess the names) come across as slightly better compared to these lot! They contacted me despite being not asked to contact me, and I thought I will give them a second chance. They don't have a data proteciton office either to handle your GDPR requests etc. The way they ignore landlord/seller's instructions even at Director level (Alex - lettings) is breathtaking. Cameron and new comer not interested in doing viewings whilst candidates roam around your house taking pictures/videos inside wardrobes etc. I shall be posting some vidoes to see their conduct!

Recently I had an issue with an appliance at one of my rented properties, Nabil Subhani dealt with back and forth between his maintenance team, the tenant, the insurance company and directly with me. In all the time. Dealing with the matter, Nabil was responsive to all matters in an extremely efficient and timely way. His communication was clear and to the point and the matter was progressed efficiently despite the fact that that too many people were involved he stayed at the centre of communicating with all parties concerned.

Very sloppy service from Dexters

Very sloppy service from Dexters. Missing attachments to emails, forgetting to send information, incorrect information was sent.At check-in, they didn't even give us the right keys.... Sloppiness was a constant through the process....The house was very very dirty, despite it should have been professionally cleaned by contract. There was mold, dust, dead insects.... Lots of furniture was broken or not fixed. We are not sure if the landlords were informed at all at this point.Another red flag is that the agents try to lock tenants in very long contracts, a new trend with many companies. They didn't pressure as much as others, but still, they create this constant sense of urgency for the tenants.... then they disappear for days and need constant follow-ups.Do not recommend.

Proactive communication and empathy

Proactive communication, empathy and transparency are three core values I have seen demonstrated at Dexters. I have rented a home through them for nearly two years, and they have stood out as property managers that actually care. Most recently, Daragh Power has impressed me with their kindness and genuine care. I had two requests of the landlord, one that would require a change to my contact, and Daragh was AMAZING at listening to my needs, understanding the time sensitivity and following up with the landlord when we didn’t receive a response right away. They could have deprioritised my concerns or have gotten upset with my persistence but instead they understood where I was coming from and really advocated for me. This is exactly what one would want from a property manager, but is something I find is rare, especially in a ‘landlord market.’ Daragh communicated professionally throughout and made the entire process stress free. I wouldn’t choose another property manager besides Dexters.

Vote for worst estate agency of the year

This review is in particular for Dexter's Lee.If you think all Estate Agents in Lee are the same,then Dexter's Lee is definitely different. very different,in fact they could contend for the worst estate agency in England. I would highly recommend to anyone buying or selling through Dexter's Lee to contact me. The team, and in particular the sales team are money oriented. They will provide all sorts of distorted facts to make you list their property through them and whilst buying ,all sorts of lies without any moral conscience will be told. Their costs are higher than other than other estate agents who provide a far more personal service. This agency strives on the Dexter's brand but having dealt with Dexter's in other parts,I can easily vouch that they are the worst and most unprofessional. Please do your research before listing your property,buying and even thinking of renting out through them. They will completely ignore any of your requests or their duties as long as they can make their commission. As stated I am ready to help and discuss in more detail on why to avoid this agency

Daniel's customer service is great

Before Daniel F joined the team I struggled a bit with Dexters (hence the 3 stars). Often things would not be done, people wouldn't log when there had been a visit to my flat so more would be booked in and there were lack of updates at times which felt frustrating. However after dealing with Daniel F it feels like things are changing for the better and if I had always dealt with Daniel I would prob give Dexters a 5 star rating. Great customer service, always keeps me informed and gets things moving which I really appreciate!

Acted illegally

Did not follow process and illegally cut off our services and sent a checkout clerk to our home while we’re still living there. They gave him a key and advised him to enter the property despite us repeatedly and clearly communicating when our leave date was. We had to report them to the local council and open an investigation. They had our council tax and water cut off and then accused us of not paying our bills despite repeatedly trying to rectify their mistake. Cutting utilities is treated as harassment and unlawful eviction under the Protection from Eviction Act 1977. Under this act, it is a criminal offence for a landlord or agent to interrupt or cut off electricity, water, or gas to make a tenant leave. Specific estate agent that caused us these issues is Fahima Miah, Senior Property Manager.
