From that point onwards, the communication throughout the entire process has been exemplary. Erling kept up to date every step of the way, and nothing ever felt uncertain or unclear. The team’s dedication and attentiveness made what can often be a stressful process feel smooth and reassuring.

GoogleVery disappointing experience trying to rent through them. The agent, Helen, was difficult to reach throughout, calls to her directly and to the office were repeatedly met with ‘wait’ or brushed off. After days of interest and a viewing, the landlord went with another applicant. When I asked why, I was told ‘what’s not to understand’ and spoken to in a dismissive, frankly rude way, no real answer, just irritation that I’d asked. For an agency handling people’s housing, the lack of basic communication and courtesy was very disappointing.

Having reviewed the timeline of your application, we are confident that communication was maintained throughout the process. Following your viewing on Monday evening, an application form was sent the next morning, and your queries were responded to promptly. When you contacted our office subsequently, you were advised that the person handling your application was unavailable that day and that you would receive an update as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, the landlord received several applications for this property and ultimately chose to proceed with another applicant. As is standard practice, we do not decline other applicants until a holding deposit has been received from the successful applicant, at which point all remaining applicants are informed of the outcome.
We appreciate that this was not the news you were hoping to receive. However, the decision was made by the landlord after considering multiple applications and was not a rejection based on any specific issue with your application.
We take pride in providing a professional service and are disappointed that you felt otherwise. We wish you every success in finding a suitable property and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

GoogleWe really can't recommend Erling Lindoe at Penny and Sinclair enough. We met him while viewing a house and immediately liked him and so asked him to value our house. Even though the house is out of his normal area, Erling arrived with an armful of research and a sales plan about different ways we could approach the sale. He is very knowledgeable and communicative so we always knew what was going on, and his transparency meant that it was easy to trust the plan. The whole process was very professional and we had offers on our house within a matter of days. We had really excellent service and will definitely use Penny and Sinclair again in the future.

GoogleThe pre-move in experience was GREAT! As soon as they had my rent + deposit, they stopped caring and everything went wrong.
I moved into a property managed by Penny & Sinclair and unfortunately the check-in condition was completely unacceptable.
The house was handed over with dirty soap bars full of hair in the shower, kitchen cupboards full of grime, previous tenants’ belongings left behind, and rubbish (including cans) scattered throughout the garden. We were reassured this would be resolved, it never was.
For four months we were repeatedly told it would be sorted, only to eventually be told it was entirely our responsibility.
The property was also advertised using old photos that did not reflect the real condition at move-in.
No handover of the property was given, no idea how to use the boiler or the home alarm.
When I do call them for any assistance, the first thing they do is call out a specialist (at a cost to either the landlord or the tenant) and don't bother to ask a single question to triage it themselves.
Tenants be cautious. Communication is one-sided and concerns were minimised rather than addressed. The experience gave the impression the tenant relationship is far less important than protecting the landlord. And when it does come to the landlord, Penny and Sinclair certainly won't have any interest in protecting your pennies - the first chance they get to call out a specialist without asking any questions or seeing if they can help first is their Go To approach.
Very disappointing start to a tenancy and not what you expect from a professional letting agent.

GoogleI mostly dealt with Helen Lee, very nice lady and was honest about the landlords intentions on one particular property, which was very much appreciated. They have a great selection of character and quality homes from what I saw. My one minor complaint is the speed/timescale of the viewings themselves (possibly reflecting their success?!) although they did arrange another viewing to let me come back to measure up once I'd confirmed a property. Also, although they don't manage the cottage I rented, Helen kindly sent out their appliance engineer to try and fix the washing machine. All in all, efficient and organized with good properties on their books.

I lived in an apartment managed by Penny&Sinclair for three years, and the service was outstanding throughout. Their apartments are top-notch truly some of the best properties in Oxford. Rebecca was my first contact and she was amazing. Cindy then took over, followed by Jo, who was fantastic as well. Even when I had to involve TDS for my deposit, Jo responded promptly, checked on my wellbeing, and guided me through the process. She explained things I didn’t understand and continued to support me even after the resolution. Jo also helped me organize when I mistakenly sent parcels to my old address and assisted with references whenever needed. Having had several awkward sales in the past we realised the importance of having an agent who really has the skills to get a sale all the way through after the offer is accepted and also protect from time wasters. Erling was fantastic and completely on the ball, the sale would not have succeeded without him. In an age when all properties are on rightmove etc you need to pick an agent for the individuals you are dealing with and we found the quality of staff far higher than the old heritage big name brands who we spoke to.
