TrustpilotConnells North St Bristol
Connells North St Bristol Speaking as a landlord I would not use this particular branch of Connells again. While getting some properties valued recently the agent and I got chatting,I explained I had a difficult tenant and due to my age I was thinking of handing my residential portfolio over to a property management company. He advised me to use his team (only one person at this particular branch) and me being keen for an easy life contacted Beth. While I should stress that the team I spoke to in her absence (kingswood branch) came across as wanting to help me and also very professional as was the sales team at this branch,I can honestly say I don’t feel the same way about Beth. I felt like she was under the impression she was me a favour rather than charging me 11% something she actually did say is I’m dealing with the tenant for free despite me telling her to bill me for it. The whole point of me letting her deal with this particularly tenant was to see if she would be capable of looking after my portfolio. I personally feel this would be something she would not be capable of doing.

TrustpilotLeft alone to deal with a tenant who doesn’t want to leave after being served with a notice.
I directed Connells that I needed my property back and they advised the customer of my instructions. They told me the customer has to save the notice period, which is about a month and a half. As I’m writing this review, Almost 6 months later, the tenant still hasn’t left the property. There hasn’t been any updates from Connells regarding the eviction notice. They left me to deal with the tenant (which hasn’t been easy) although THEY ARE STILL COLLECTING MONTHLY FEES from this property. I have now decided to go the legal route…will update in due course

TrustpilotWhen is an auction not an auction - seller beware
Seller beware of signing up to the Modern Auction method of selling your house. I did and wasn’t given the contract to read before signing up or sent a copy to allow the cooling off period by the Watford branch. Apart from being told this would be easy and bidding was like on EBay. Interested buyers would bid and the idea was that the price would reach the reserve or above. The buyer pays 4.2% above the sale price and the seller pays no commission. All good so far! In reality people who view make an offer and as in The traditional selling method the offer is put to the seller. If the offer is refused the buyer is under no obligation to put that bid on the Iamsold website to generate more bids. So for 6O days my house stayed at its original starting price even though people had made offers moving towards the reserve price. People on the watchlist saw none of this as nothing happened. And it certainly didn’t generate a ‘bidding frenzy’I gave notice on the contract and was told it would cost me nothing. SELLER BEWARE clause 3 of the contract which I had never been given a copy of stated that I would be liable to pay the 4.2% for the next 12 MONTHS if anyone Connells had introduced subsequently bought the house. A list of 60 people. Going to a new agent you are tied to Connells for 12 MONTHS and the new agent is obliged to tell Connells if someone from the list buys the house. You, the seller then incurs the 4.2% commission charge plus the commission charge to the new agent. This does not happen if you stay with Connells and use the traditional method. However as they introduced 60 people and failed to sell the house, which by the way was valued much higher at the start of the process and the again by an independent agent more recently, they are unlikely to be able to sell it at a higher price. For a buyer a £300,000 house will cost around an extra £20,000 on top of the buying price with stamp duty and 4.2%. In my opinion The traditional method where the price starts high and buyers make offers gives a far better deal to both seller and buyer as both are in control of the sale price and end costs and there is no ambiguity.

TrustpilotFalse advertising, lack of communication and professionalism
Connells MaidstoneWe recently rented a property that was advertised as partly furnished. On both the website and after enquiring they confirmed that would include only the white goods. However after moving in we found multiple piece of furniture that were not communicated and now they are asking us to pay for storage in case we don't want them in the house! If you are dealing with them make sure you go through every little detail before you make any decision - overall very poor experience..

TrustpilotPoor Experience
We used them via Persimmons home exchange. The initial valuation and communication with them was great as they want to get your custom. They were meant to phone us/ email about our house listing so we could proof read it before it was put on the market. They listed our house as leasehold and made up information about this lease.. The property is freehold.. 🙄 we contacted them about this and they said it takes a week to amend it on the website. 2 weeks later it is still currently listed wrong.Anyway, this probably lost us quite a few potential buyers but luckily we also had our house listed with a local estate agent who marketed our house correctly and we sold within a week with them!

I was a prospective tenant for one of the properties listed with them. They cancelled a viewing 2 hrs before the appointment saying the house was having 'some work done'. We rebooked the viewing for 2 days later and I called on the day of the viewing to confirm some details about the property. It was only then that I was informed that the property was not available. They had not bothered to contact me to cancel the viewing (was meant to happen in less than 2 hours). They did not apologise and were actually quite rude. I don't trust them at all and wouldn't be surprised if the information I was given was untrue. I would not recommend them!

TrustpilotI do not recommend
This agency performed a sales and rental valuation at my property. After the total renovation of my house was estimated at £1,600 per month as renting price. Using any website that rents houses in my area the monthly price is around £2,000 in lower standards. The hours in which you can receive apointments are between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. When I asked about later hours, I received the answer that I had to take a day off from work. The agent was very young and his behavior was unpleasant.I must add that I had a total of four agents. I received quotes of £2000 pm or more from three of them.

TrustpilotCommunication is appalling
Don't expect anyone to pick up the phone if you have a query. Once you manage to find someone who accidently does they will refuse to give escalation Manager details. Don't expect them to adequately staff their offices. Even their Area Managers follow the same corporate line of hiding who their Manager is to avoid them finding out what a poor service they provide. DO NOT USE THEM.

TrustpilotExtremely rude
Extremely rude, asked if I had building regs for a partition wall. Which is completely incorrect. Valued a 3 bed flat in London at less than a studio rate. On top of that absolutely rude, unprofessional. Please if you bank/ lender has used them try to use someone else. They are awful and will treat you like you owe them something.

TrustpilotConnells Malvern- Awful Experience
Connells Malvern- Wouldn’t even give this company 1 star but it was the lowest I could go. Twice we have had appointments cancelled last minute.First appointment was cancelled via email with no information as to why- when I called I was advised that it was due to “a computer error, double booking” I was not happy but it happens so I just rebooked for a few days later. The second appointment was also cancelled last minute via email- no information as to why. When I called to understand why this one had also been cancelled I was told I myself had called up to cancel! I had not spoken to them since I had called to rebook the original cancelled appointment. Then after being put on hold for a period of time so that they could look into this, they came back to advise me that the computer system had yet another malfunction and had cancelled lots of appointments and that they’d just book me back in.I advised ‘Harry’ who I was talking to not to bother to rebook my appointment as I did not want to deal with them due to the less than satisfactory experience I’ve had so far so he just hung up on me.Rude. Unhelpful. Unsolicited marketing. Honestly never dealt with a company like this. Very unprofessional.

Trustpilot*DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY…
*DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES*Connells solicitors, Conveyancing Direct, should never be used, they have cost us thousands of pounds due to their severe lack of urgency and complete ineptitude. Please do yourself a favour and just google them and see hundreds of terrible reviews, we wish we had, rather than just taking the recommendation of the mortgage advisor.- This company are absolute amateurs, often taking weeks to reply to basic requests via email, almost never answering the phone, and never having the answers you need, often forgetting what was previously stated in calls/emails and never giving timescales for when he would complete critically time sensitive tasks. - On several occasions our conveyancer lied to us about not receiving documents from the sellers solicitor and when called out on the fact he had received said documents would give us an excuse as to why he had missed it, never apologising or taking responsibility. - We went to Connells to buy our first house which had no chain. This seems to be a very common theme with Conveyancing Direct to never prioritise cases which should be simple with no chain - our conveyancer had zero urgency and at every step let us down, we had to put in for a mortgage extension and even then he didn’t inform us of the outcome until 4:30pm on the day it expired. - The lack of urgency meant that extension also expired and could not be extended again, meaning we had no choice but to apply for mortgage with far worse interest rates, which will cost us thousands extra over our mortgage term.- Our conveyancer was completely incompetent, having to ask his manager on every decision, the only half decent service we received was when he was on annual leave!

Cancellation scam and a bunch of money hungry liars. My family have recently moved. We was going to go with Connell. They told us in person there will be no cancellation fees. We was only with them for 4 days. They are a bunch of liars. We wanted to cancel. It's been a few months now and they have only just sent an email saying we owe them. Trying to bully us into paying a cancellation fee that they said we wouldn't have to paid. You bunch of absolute liars

TrustpilotDO NOT PUT YOUR PROPERTY ON WITH…
DO NOT PUT YOUR PROPERTY ON WITH CONNELLS OR ANY OF THEIR AFFILIATED BRANCHES. They make next to no effort to sell your home and you remain tied into a contract with them. Even if you take your property off with them after 20 week period (yeah! 20 weeks + another month's notice. Most local agencies take your house off within 2 weeks if you ask them) and on with someone else, they will try to come after you for their fee if you sell to a person who's registered with them or viewed through them WITHIN THE PAST 2 YEARS. They are parasites. Hiding everything in the small print, they are making money out of people this way during a recession and a cost of living crisis! Research if your agent is with the Connells Group before signing anything with these crooks.

TrustpilotEx Branch Manager
Well. I can only speak as an Ex Branch Manager.Last time my Wife posted a review in a purchase of her friends place, via my account, I had a threatening letter delivered to me by the legal team.I called the number on the letter, was told to withdraw my Wife's post and they would drop matters.Honestly? As a Branch Manager, I was appalled at offers not being presented as I was supposed to "secure the mortgage business, conveyancing and a survey".All a money grab.If they write to me again asking me to remove my comments- I'll happily see then in Court. I have nothing to hide.Don't list your house with these guys.Trust meJust sold my house and not through a bully tactic.A really nice Agent.Wonder why I didn't use Connells?Odd right?
