Denise Hurn gave us some excellent service that wasn’t in her job description. She dealt with a leak in our property which is her job I believe in property management, but a couple of months later when we were trying to hand in our notice for the property and were having trouble reaching the correct person she dealt with the whole thing. She also answered some questions we had, this is not her job which I think make me the service even more impressive.

Got the job done and maintained outstanding customer service throughout

Romans (Jonathan Hawthorne in particular) provided first class service from their market appraisal, recommended listing price to sell our house including a professional photographer for our property brochure and online listing. Our house sold in 2 days at full asking price to proceedable buyers. Communication was excellent throughout and the experience of Jonathan Hawthorne meant all troubleshooting ended positively. Very impressive!

Be warned they will sit on your money as long as they can

Romans found a tenant on the second attempt. The tenant paid a years rent upfront and a deposit. For some reason, Romans took the deposit and agreed to pass it to me. They took a week to send the money to me. I complained and was advised that originally I was misinformed that I would receive the money within 1-3 days, apparently it's always been 5-7 days. I found the admin manager rude and unhelpful, but as the branch manager was on holiday, someone else called me to let me know - he was okay. Also, they would not provide a contractor to help me put a smoke alarm in the property - as I am not living locally. Also, about as awkward as you can get when I asked them to send a key to myself or my own contractor - so I had to get the contractor to visit their offices to collect. I wont be using them again, their rates are very high for the customer service I received (nearly 1600 to find a tenant let only). Be warned they will sit on your money as long as they can to obtain the interest on it and do as little as possible for their over inflated prices.

Felt like Romans were neither listening nor representing my best interest

Initial branch manager confirmed a term of sale with my buyers that I did not agree to. Despite regularly and consistently stating this via phone and email (and through my solicitor) this term was not resolved. I felt like Romans were neither listening nor representing my best interest, just pushing for the sale. Ended-up costing me, although Romans shared a small part of the cost after admitting fault. Not great. If I could do it all over again, would I choose Romans? Absolutely not.

Dont bother with them!

From my experience, i would not purchase a house through Romans, I would NOT let a house through Romans and when my tenancy expires i will certainly NOT renew it through Romans. Very sad for the landlord who will miss out because of the exceptionally poor level of service Romans provide for a simple paying tenant. It appears to be - sign up - then forget you exist.

Even 1star they don’t deserve

Even 1star they don’t deserve. Since January I been dealing with a property to buy. The sales negotiator was so pushy. And since that I had 3person that was dealing with the case. They suppose to update you every 10days but unfortunately that doesn’t happen. Every time the person I charge keep repeating the same things. Never go and trust Roman estate agent. That so disappointed for a first deal.

Bad customer service

This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with, I normally purchase my cars from main dealers. As a one off I have seen a car I was interested in advertised online on Romans Website so I made an enquiry and arranged to buy the car the following day, then the morning upon arrival I contacted them in which Ben had said the car is still available and that I should make my 4 hour journey. When I had walked in to Romans showroom was assisted by BEN (salesman) he allowed me to explore the car inside and out but didn't help me any further nor did he insist in trying to give me much details about the car. Then he said I will leave the car with you and walked away. A few minutes later he came back and said sadly the car has just been sold even though he said a deposit has not been taken. On a personal note I feel like he came across as racist and very unprofessional. I would never recommend this dealership to anyone. If you are thinking about purchasing from them do not even bother. Literally a waste of my time and potentially a waste of money. When buying a car from somewhere you want that security and trust and i received the complete opposite.

I found working alongside both Alistair and Kerry at Romans, Wokingham, an about pleasure and would recommend anyone to go in and engage with them if they are looking to rent a property. They both communicate well and kept me completely up to date with the process of renting through them. One of the biggest frustrations with dealing with an outside agent is typically, communication, even when there isn’t much to communicate! Wycombe branch call me back and say there has been a administrative error take all our details as house is just coming up to let.This evening new advert £1900And still has just reduced on the advert.Keep pricing NHS workers out of the housing market. Bought a dress online! The dress was small so wanted to return for size up. Went to my local store was told we don’t accept returns here! CLEARLY STATES ON THE WEBSITE RETURNS TO STORE.Sent the dress back RM tracked for exchange. Tracking stated delivered!! 10 days waited for a confirmation email or the dress size up to be delivered back. NOTHING. Terrible company

Terrible company. The Yateley branch are terrible, say they callback and don’t. Was ment to be buying a house they never mentioned probate, told me I could be in on a certain date then once I’m rushing my solicitor they then mention probate. Told me various dates for when probate was applied for, passed me from person to person in the office. Emails showing probate wasn’t mentioned yet they slip the word executor on the memorandum so expected me to know. They try to wash hands of anything they do wrong. Terrible company. Now heard being mislead is known as ‘the Romans experience’

An incredibly unethical agency - avoid if you can

Pros: 1. Good communication2. Generally nice staff 3. Decent maintenance teamCons: 1. I was threatened that I'd lose the flat if I opted out of no deposit option2. Their no deposit option is essentially a scam - expensive with no real benefit (even a payday loan would've been cheaper), and takes away your legal protection from the government's deposit protection schemes3. For disputes, they charge £120 for their third party adjudicator - which would've been illegal under any deposit protection scheme, but they get away with it due to point 2 above4. The "third party adjudicator" is actually a private company that acts in the interest of the letting agent (just look at reviews for "Property Redress" - formerly HF Resolution Ltd)5. They charge incredibly inflated rates - I was charged £300 for a light clean of a 1 bed flat, they refused to negotiate and there's no means to dispute it fairly as mentioned aboveI've dealt with a number of letting agencies, both as landlord and as tenant, and Romans are truly one of the worst I've come across. The sort of agency that consistently operates in the grey area of the Trading Standards. Avoid if you can.

Excellent job selling our house x4!

I would like to just commend the team for working with my wife and I through a fairly long process. Our efforts to sell began in 2019 and the Romans team, through all the changes in personnel handling our sale were great. I reckon that you found us buyers four times in total during that time. The move manager piece was less great to be honest, but once again the team stepped in to make things happen within the timeframe that we needed.
