They totally had their eyes on the…

They totally had their eyes on the landlord's wallet and not us or our friends when it came to renewing. Why? Greed, plain and simple.Even though we said yes to their renewal offer twice, they still tossed the property onto the open market. They tried to blame the landlord, but we know that's just a classic Chestertons move.Honestly, the worst agency we've ever had to deal with.

Thanks to Tim & the rest of the Chestertons team in Wandsworth it seems it was a true blessing in disguise to have been let down by our previous estate agents to be able to deal with these guys! From beginning to end Tim couldn't have been more helpful, he ensured we were informed and up-to-date with the process and he went over and above his duties to ensure everything was completed quickly and efficiently! The team have remained openly approachable even after moving in which is hugely reassuring! I really couldn't have asked for a better team to handle the move into my new home! I have never written a google review before but really wanted to pass on how fantastic our experience with Chestertons Wandsworth was! From the beginning Bree was informative, patient and really got to know what we were looking for as a couple so she could help us find the perfect apartment. I'm sure at times we were more than a little frustrating but she was always bubbly, funny and more than happy to show us as many properties as we needed to find the one we wanted and answer all our questions, nothing was too much trouble for her! At the start of the process we were looking with multiple agencies but after seeing the level of customer service we got at Chestertons we just worked solely with them. They were above and beyond the competition and I cannot reccomend them enough. Thanks so much Bree & Adam for helping us find the perfect place, we got exactly what we wanted!

Beware their endless marketing spam

Asked for a valuation, estate agent turned up thoroughly unprepared. Undervalued the house and did not know anything about the area or recent sales of near identical houses at higher prices. I chose to use another estate agent. The problem is that they will not now leave me alone, this is a year later! Endless marketing calls and emails and my repeated attempts to ask them to stop have come to nothing. No other estate agent has done this. The latest muppet at the company tried to justify the lack of any option to remove my data from their lists in their email on the basis this was a business email rather than marketing. I look forward to seeing what the information commissioner has to say about this, as that seems the only option to stop the endless hassle from this company. Best advice, avoid them at all costs.

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible. If you are considering renting or buy, not this place. We rent a flat from them, they promised to do professional cleaning, and removal of the cigarettes smell when we viewed. When we move in, the house smell horribly with strong cigarettes smell, sink rusted, full of landlord stuff which we were not informed before moving in. We asked if they can do cleaning again and remove the smell, they said its up to their standard and we need to prove they havent done it. We are non smoker and we really hate the smell of it. They also said furniture couldnt be removed as it is not agreed on the agreement. We requested them to remove furnitures 2 months before moving in, and they kept saying they could not contact landlord. Also, there is a car parking with the flat, when we move in, they said the previous tenant broke the fob and so we do not have access to the parking space until we replace the fob. They would not talk to conierge or offer a temporary place for parking. Nothing was done, very disappointed. Complaint process is starting and I might have to seek legal advice on that.

Avoid this agency! Awful experience

Avoid this agency!They are absolutely terrible. Worst agency I've ever dealt with.They charge the tenants with very high fees at the end of the tenancy. Fees which should not be charged. What they do is when you move in they hire an external company (very shady) to do a check-in report in which they purposefully omit a lot of damages (scratch marks, missing screw caps and other strange things like that) that are already there and then at the end of tenancy they say that you have to pay for these even though these damages were already there when you moved in. Photos and videos you took when you moved in don't help because their employees just want to rob you and charge you for something you haven't done.Chestertons agency also keeps your deposit for a really long time (4+ weeks) and even if you clean the flat or hire a professional cleaning agency they still charge you for cleaning (or they ask you to hire their "friendly" cleaning company which will charge you a ridiculous £300+ fee).If you're a landlord - be prepared that they will also charge you enormous fees for their shady check-in and check-out report.If you try to talk to them politely about something on the phone they immediately get defensive and very rude.Please, to everyone who reads this - don't make the same mistake I did and do not trust this agency. Awful, awful experience.

Scam artists - Took our holding deposit, ignored us, left us without a place to live, lied to us and didn’t refund deposit.

Chestertons told us the landlord had accepted our offer and that we should pay a holding deposit. Then ignored us for days, only to contact us to say that the landlord had decided to go with a lower and worse offer, because Chestertons hadn’t done their job. They then lied to us that they had contacted the landlord (Chestertons had initially said they couldn’t do their job properly because they couldn’t get hold of the landlord) and they didn’t want to negotiate, and decided to go with an offer lower than ours. No landlord on earth would ever accept worse terms and less money. Chesterton staff will take your money then lie to you, will waste your time and leave you at risk of becoming homeless. They clearly are of no benefit to landlords either if they don’t communicate properly or pass on money paid to them by tenants/prospective tenants. If this is how they do lettings, I can only imagine how they mess the lives and waste money of those buying property (where the stakes and values are much higher) with them. Avoid these scam artists.

Amazing experience with Chestertons

Having lived in Wandsworth for a couple of years, and Chestertons being relatively new to the market, there were other agencies that are more well known to me. My experience with Chestertons was completely different to the other agencies that I used to rent my flat through: being overseas, Chestertons were always good in calling me to discuss matters, and offers in particular; they were spot on in the type of tenant I was after; and the process of onboarding the tenant and moving them into my flat was a pain free, seamless one, again particularly helpful as I am overseas. I would recommend them highly and Adam is not only trustworthy in his job but a nice and approachable guy to have to deal with.
