We cannot recommend Avril highly enough. Throughout our entire house-buying process, she has been incredibly accommodating, understanding, and, above all, exceptionally efficient. Buying a home is a major milestone, and it is rare to feel like you are in such a 'safe pair of hands.' Avril consistently returned our calls and emails promptly, making us feel genuinely looked after. Knowing that any query could be resolved with a quick, friendly chat was so reassuring. On a personal note, Avril is a lovely person who made the whole experience a genuine joy. Five stars aren't enough!

Over promised and Under delivered!!!! Snags still not finished and been in the property for almost a year. Many in the estate have had the same problem and some even ovr 2 years. Lack of communication from Customer Care (same message every time) and they never get back to you. Many residents including myself will be taking further action. Do NOT buy one of these properties, regardless of what sales says. Turf also left to get wet on peoples front gardens, unmaintained estate as per images.

Here is my honest review of the experience I have had with persimmons, I definitely would not recommend buying a property with persimmons, we’ve had problem after problem and still no further forward. The roof that was slated over 8 months ago has never been done right from the start, what kind of tradesman puts down slates straight on wood surely if there is no waterproof membrane then you wouldn’t put the slates on the roof (common sense), it all started during the home demo I pointed a mark out in the front bedroom 1st floor and I was told the day we got the key it was a burst pipe and it had been repaired which was alot of nonsense as you could still see the marks on ceiling when we moved in 3 month ago. so the ceiling was cut and patched by a joiner and roofer checked roof and said it was all fine. The leak reappeared as the rain got worse a month later to which then a scaffold was built for the roof to be stripped to find out it had never been done right from the start and was not properly watertight and membrane were missing, 3 times now it’s meant to be fixed but to be honestly I’m not overly confident this is fixed correctly due to their incompetence during this whole process so far. We also quizzed them prior to moving in why the drain pipes were detached and holes dug front and back garden 1 week before our home demo to be told there were issues with the drains that were fixed and since moving in £400-£500 worth of clothing have been damaged due to the waste pipe back feeding into the washing machine which is something I have had to solve myself because they don’t have a clue what the issue is/was. They just palm you of with any old excuse and seem to have someone else to blame when you ask them anything. The only positive thing I can say is John (site agent) trys his best to help you out the best he can but is only one person and not the main man. I’ve currently have had to put my drain pipe hooked on the edge of the sink to prove these marks are coming from the the back feed of waste pipe and currently trying to get them round to try unblock these drains which I’m not holding my breath on as this has been an on going issue too since we moved in. Save yourself the headache and money and look elsewhere unless you want to waste unnecessary energy banging you head against a brick wall, I don’t know how you can get a house build so wrong. I honestly can’t believe that they get away with doing this to people and just take their money. The finishings to the property aren’t great either,Doors marked, windows door and sills all scratched, drain pipes scratched to bits, paintwork is horrendous. Bannisters from top floor to ground floor looks like my dog has been playing tug of war with it. I paid for flooring which was not done very well, and wish I just got it done from a proper tradesmen and no care was taken and holes left in walls which still haven’t been attended too. I would be ashamed if I was a tradesman leaving the standard of workmanship in someone’s property. I honestly wish I had listened to all the bad reviews previously and saved myself the stress and headache this move has cost me. I had umpteen promises regards things being sorted and nothing happens. I could go on and on with more issues but I think you get the picture. John shields (one of the bigger bosses) came out for a meeting made a few empty promises and never heard back from him, all he was bothered about was getting a positive survey review, it’s quite pathetic that they want you to lie about your experience to potential new home buyers. These guys are absolute cowboys. I’m just praying we make it through the winter 🙏🏻

Don’t buy a home here. You will be buying stress from difficulties in getting your snagging done here. Customer Service is none existent. Don’t buy kitchen appliances from this company they are three times cost more than curry’s. If your unlucky enough to have bought a house with this company. Please ensure you don’t buy any additional appliances kitchen appliances, carpets or showers from them built in wardrobes. They don’t replace them. Make sure you get your gas checked before you have been in your house a year from getting your keys. Or your boiler is not covered for replacement by thus company. They will not replace the faulty old not correctly installed boiler. Please be warned. Even although the appliances you bought didn’t work from day one of moving in. They still will not replace them. This company has no respect for customers who have sent hundreds of thousands on a home. Ours is still not liveable kitchen after being in our home for 15 months. Seven day snagging list has still not been completed. Staff in this company Customer services are very exasperating. Many have no customer services ability in them. Not all though, there are some lovely ladies work there Amanda and Laura. Many others no manners tell untruths and don’t do the job they are paid to do. Please if you don’t want stress heart ack then don’t buy one of theses homes. Only plus side is Sales Staff. They are welcoming and try beyond the call of duty to help you. Smooth the pain of dealing with Customer Services. Site staff are keen to help. But can’t as they are controlled by Customer Services. Customer Services here are just a total joke apart from named staff who take pride in trying to help. The customer service manager and assistant manager go out of their way to hang up on you and don’t answer your emails for months. They are Customer Services. The phones are always down on holiday or in meeting or wait gif it constantly I’ll. I think they should be sacked for the way they speak deal with the customers who keep them employed. I never ever give bad reviews. I had to this time. Please take heed.

I have a very nice house now after some snagging issues at the start but Avril Elliot in the office was absolutely lovely, always there to help with anything I needed and the site manager John went over and above for me. Have there been some issues, yes, but I've found that I was always validated and both Avril and John did their best to fix these as quickly as possible.

Don't buy here!!!! If you fancy making the worst financial decision of your life then this is the company to buy a house from. Everything went wrong after putting down our deposit. From the lack of communication from the sales office, to arriving on our move in date to no floors to the state of our garden now, our experience has been shocking. The house itself, even though not finished, is nice. It's everything else with persimmon that is wrong. It took 9 months to get our cooker hood fixed, there was rubble in it. We had about 5 people come round to check what was wrong with it despite us saying there was rubble in it and it being confirmed by every contractor. This is just one example of our experience. We have also had a new build before so expected snagging.....but we would not have expected things like no water to our bath, non working cooker hood, keys to our patio door etc to be fixed ASAP not after 4 months plus! Our next house will not be a Persimmon house and I urge anyone thinking of buying here to reconsider. Edit: We put a formal complaint to Persimmon in October and it is yet to be resolved so their response to this review is for show. No management will address this. It's yet another lie

DISGRACEFUL. - Now in the process of taking this company to court and escalating to warranty provider, Filing a formal complaint with the New Homes Ombudsman, and preparing for court through my solicitor. - take what the sales reps say with a grain of salt. Will be seeing potential buyers at the sales office and warning them until my issues get resolved. PLEASE NOTE: 95% of this site is owned by persimmons for grounds maintenance and absolutely NOTHING has been done in the last 2 years to maintain it yet we all get charge a factor fee. Scandulous

This review and 1 star is about dealing with Customer Care. Over the last 17 months we have reminded, requested and repeatedly accomodated appointments arranged for our 7 day snagging list to be completed so that the Retention scheme money held with our solicitor can be released to Persimmon. There is 1 item, a roof tile adjustment ( 3 storey house) that is outstanding. We have made many, many phone calls asking for this to be addressed, to no avail. It has been logged many times with Customer Care that this is outstanding. Our solicitor has had letters from Persimmon to say we are satisfied the 7day snagging list is complete and demanding that the money should be released. The final letter had a threat of legal action. The factor appointed is causing major upsets to all residents, with inaccurate bills, no workers on site, late charges, threats of legal action for payment when invoices haven't even been received, etc. RMG!!! Say no more. We have formed a Tenants and residents association and are trying to engage Persimmon about the many issues. The streets are a hazard to our vehicles as the only entrance to the estate is full of major potholes. There are still no street name signs so ambulances and deliveries are hindered. Persimmon and East Lothian council both deny that it is their idea to renege on original plan for a new roundabout as part of the main entrance to the site. Costs seem to be the excuse given. There are safety issues around this change to the plan. People who had purchased a house on what they thought was a cul-de-sac will now be on a main entrance street. All the people we have met on the estate talk of complete lack of attention from Customer Care and they are at breaking point trying to get snags addressed. All in all it seems that profits for shareholders are being put before the customers' right to have snags addressed as part of the purchase agreement. Customer care is very poor and mostly unreachable. We are happy with our home but extremely unhappy at the neglect from Persimmon for our estate.

If you are thinking about buying a new home from Persimmon be prepared for the long and arduous after sales experience, I'm approaching 2 years and still have an outstanding complaint which I raised on the 15th December 2021. When raising issues about the quality of the finish within the house I was told to remember that the finish is what's called a builders finish, therefore it's not perfect, I was absolutely dumbfounded with that explanation after parting with a serious amount of money. Recently realised that after 21 months there was no Carbon Monoxide detector in the kitchen and awaited all relevant paperwork to understand how the house was signed off. The customer care staff are consistently moved which is frustrating, especially when in the middle of dealing with issues and you have to go over everything again from the start, the frontline staff are constantly let down by the senior management who are only interested in dealing with issues when you have a survey to complete, and once you complete it they disappear and leave you to chase to get your issues resolved. For those monitoring the reviews, please do not patronise me with the standard comment thanking me for my feedback and that you will transfer my comments to the management team, They are already aware and ignoring my requests for updates. Have just sent an email to the CEO Dean FInch and for those monitoring the reviews, please do not patronise me with the standard comment thanking me for my feedback and that you will transfer my comments to the management team, They are already aware and ignoring my requests for updates.

I am giving 3 stars for the fact I like my home and I like where my home is situated. What is so disappointing is the estate is not being maintained, cars from site are constantly parking in residents parking areas and customer service is pretty much non existent (unless you're lucky enough to speak with Diane). I've been battling for 18 months for things to be fixed and find you just get ignored until you take it higher. Even then, you start to be ignored again. I've finally given up in trying to have my items fixed so if you're ready for the challenge then this place is okay for you but if you don't want the headache it isn't.

Absolutely shocking. Do not buy here! Nearly 2 years gone by and our 7 day snagging is not complete. We recently had an issue with our boiler to be told persimmon are not fixing it even though it has been confirmed by 2 separate engineers it was not fitted properly when it was initially put in the house. Customer service are so poor with communication and the promises we have been made have not been kept. The workman ship throughout the whole house is poor. Not one wall is straight nor been painted to a good standard. We took of our bath panel and it looks like the bath frame has been put together by a child. Would hate to see what is hiding behind the rest of our walls/appliances. I could go on but I don’t have the time.

This review is for Burgh Gate, Musselburgh, Scotland. Plot 271. We moved in 17th December 2021, and on the first day we moved in we had noticed that our garage wall had collapsed and we’re told that “It must have been the wind that done it”. After 6 weeks, bearing in mind we were told it would take 3 days, the wall was corrected along with the rough casting. During this time many snagging issues were found. Our en-suite didn’t produce hot water. So we had to have our wall, in one of the bedrooms, cut into which showed that the person who had installed it put the pipes the wrong way round. Further to the snagging, our paintwork was absolutely atrocious and this was also agreed by one of the site managers at the time. So we had someone come round who we were told was the general managers personal painter”. He done a disaster of a job, it was later found out that he isn’t even a painter and just a handy man. We found this out because painters later attended our house after 1 year and a half. We had a faulty electric shower in the main bathroom, our tile in our en-suite was smashed, sinks were cracked in all bathrooms. During the episode of the snagging getting promised to be corrected, there were two site managers who told us that due to the inconvenience, of the garage wall, they would landscape our garden to how we liked. It was done, but the grass was just lumped onto all the rocks in the soil, our fence hasn’t been correctly put back into the ground, and we have been waiting for this to happen for over 1 year and a half. We were also getting chased by these two managers for the NHBC survey to be signed and to be told that they wouldn’t do the landscaping or fix any further issues if that survey wasn’t complete with a yes being ticked. There have been about 50 site managers so we don’t know who they are. We were also not given our welcome Pack with information on it such as having our boiler serviced within a year. We got our boiler serviced a year and a half later because we found out that many houses in the estate were having gas leeks. The service we got stated that it had been poorly fitted and it was corroded due to this. We made persimmons aware and they have told us us it’s not there issue and after further correspondence they are now ignoring us. Going back to the two managers who pressured us for the NHBC survey, one of them actually promised us a new kitchen but that never happened. I can honestly say it’s been the worst experience. Staying of work, losing annual leave days, promises of attendance of tradesmen and no attendance. I have also been told today that one of my neighbours called the bro Persimmons to speak with customer care and she overheard them on the phone stating “ you b***ard I told you not to put that one through’ We have emailed Dean Finch twice with no response. We have no went to our local MP and in talks with 2 local papers. Many of the residents are now coming together as they have had the same experience. Nearly two years later and things still haven’t been fixed. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH, don’t buy any persimmon home. Burgh Gate has 5 stars outside the sales office, a complete lie. No communications from Customer care for 4 months The only positive I can advise people of is Avril at the sales office, she’s brilliant. The rest of them are a disaster.

Terrible experience for people moving into there new property had to wait till 12 midday for the keys to be handed over so obviously the property was signed off, however we arrived with the furniture only to find no carpets had been laid as per the instructions.
