What have you done to the scones

What have you done to the scones? They used to be delicious, soft crumbly and scrumptious, they are now thick doughy and dense and leave a nasty taste in your mouth for hours afterwards. I won’t be buying again unless you revert back to the old recipe.

Mrs · 27 September 2024

Agent replied · 25 December 2024

Hi Mrs A Round.Thank you for taking the time to review.I'm sorry you recently had disappointing scones. Our current scone recipe has been in place for about 3 years now. So it sounds to me that something must have gone wrong with the process of making the scones you recently had. As the switch from dairy milk to oat milk makes no difference to the texture when the method is followed correctly and they certainly shouldn’t be heavy. We're always reviewing our recipes to ensure they're the best they can be, so I've passed on your comments to our Food and Beverage team.Thank you again for your feedback and support of the National Trust.Kind regardsSteveNational Trust

Lovely visit to Ham House

Lovely visit to Ham House. As my children were interested in ghost stories and secret passages, the house volunteers were brilliant telling stories to them. The Easter trail was very good and my kids enjoyed the activities. Cafe service very quick and friendly, shop team lovely and overall a great day out. Can’t wait to visit again.

Montacute House very restricted house access

Visited Montacute House today, beautiful house and garden. Only ground floor open. Given the profits they make if it’s staff shortages that are the issue, which we were told, I’m sure this huge profit making organisation could employ additional staff and not always expect volunteers to cover any dry periods. I do have membership but sometimes I feel the National Trust expect too much for nothing.

Miss · 26 August 2023

Agent replied · 19 June 2024

Dear Miss Reeves I'm sorry you were disappointed by your recent visit to Montacute House. The first and second floors of Montacute House currently being closed is not a decision we took lightly. We're aware of the impact this has on visitors. The stairs at Montacute House are considered a conservation priority for us. Wear and tear over hundreds of years has made these stone staircases vulnerable. A project is in the pipeline to address this issue and the staircases have been monitored as part of that.As we get ready to move the project forward, civil and structural engineers have again reviewed both staircases. However, further investigation is needed to better understand the condition of the North stairs. The South stairs already being closed following specialist advice. As a result, both staircases are now closed to public use. I'm sorry you were given differing reasons for the closure. There is, however, still some fascinating things to see on the ground floor, including the Tournai and Hunter tapestries, the Phelip’s family portraits and the Chicheley Hall furniture. The garden, parkland, shop and café remain open as usual. Thanks for your support, I hope I've managed to clear up any confusion. Kind regards Chris National Trust

Tredegar House Newport, outrageous practice, take your money and close early.

Tredegar House Newport, purchased tickets at 14:14 on 17/12 for property advertised as open until 4pm. At 15:10 we were informed it was now closed which ruined our visit. Outrageous practice and on principle will be perusing a refund with vigour as staff could not care attitude inflamed me further. NT has lost its way and my custom after many years.

Graham · 17 December 2023

Agent replied · 19 June 2024

Hi Graham Thank you for your review and for visiting Tredegar House. I've spoken with the local team about your experience. They're sorry to hear about what happened. They've confirmed that last entry to the mansion house is 3pm. This is advertised on our website and on signs in the Visitor Welcome area. The mansion itself closes at 3.30pm. We’re sorry the team at Visitor Welcome didn't make this clear to you when entering and buying your tickets. We'll be speaking to the team on site to ensure that they are communicating this to all of our visitors. Thanks again for visiting and for your support. National Trust

Hinton Ampner the worst I have ever seen it.Have known Lord Sherborne, Ralph Dutton I feel the way this bequeathed estate is an insult to his memory. The Head Gardener appears to have no passion for the Estate, one only has to look at his own garden, so not worth discussing😡

Why is the national trust still…

Why is the national trust still operating a booking system, it is mandatory to wear face masks now in confined spaces and shops, and the national trust places have a lot of space, members are getting left out because no spaces are ever left and the trust must be loosing a lot of money due to people cancelling thier memberships its appauling thinking of cancelling our membership because cant get booked anywhere

Extortionately expensive & Exclusionary

The national trust has some amazing locations but with their pricing, they prohibit the average family from visiting. £52 (excl. Parking) for a family to visit Stourhead in Wiltshire is pure extortion. Surely, if the aim is to preserve these beautiful locations for current and future generations, the pricing should be more affordable

internal Awareness / External Media Doom

I can only imagine how frustrating it is dealing with all these misinformed angry reviews stired up by misinformation in the press regarding an obviously innocent and easily explained issue. I hope the people writing the angry reviews actually come back and read your measured and thoughtful reply. We regularly visit trust properties and support your great work and kind staff.

I've been waiting nearly 3 months for the parking permit for my membership so I still can't use the membership. Obviously won't be renewing, happy to support historic building but I do actually want to be able to use the membership. Been back to the location I brought it from and they said it's a known problem and I could be waiting a long time!

Hi S Vale and thanks for your review. I'm sorry, we've had a few problems sending out certain items over the past few months and weren't aware for a while. I've arranged a car sticker to be sent out and it should arrive next week. Just to let you know though, you don't need the car sticker to visit anymore, you just need to scan your membership card at the ticket machine. So you can visit straight away if you wish to do so. Once again, sorry for the confusion.

Restore Trust

Such is the concern over the National Trust and its "woke" agenda, prioritising minorities at the expense of the majority, etc that a campaign group has been established called Restore Trust (google it to find the website) with the aim of restoring the National Trust to the one the majority of members and ex members have fond memories of and loveI wish them every success Ex member

Very Unfair

My membership ended on 30th June 2024. I applied for membership again on 3rd August. National Trust have given me 12 months membership from 30th June thereby cheating me out of one months membership. I would have expected better. Do they always cheat people like this?

Your calendar is an absolute DISGRACE

Your calendar is an absolute DISGRACE! We are a CHRISTIAN country & you engender RELIGIOUS HATRED by the NON-INCLUSION of CHRISTIANITY.In GIBRALTAR they produce a calendar that includes EVERY religion Muslim Buddist Judaism Christianity (all flavours) Seikhism etc. If a TINY enclave can see the IMPORTANCE of inclusion then why can't a NATIONAL organisation like you do the same?

Hi MichaelThanks for taking the time to leave your comments. We've responded to some similar reviews already and I'm responding to yours in the same way for consistency.Hopefully, I can clear up a slight misunderstanding from recent media articles. This matter was also raised at our AGM.The Inclusion and Wellbeing Calendar is an internal resource, used to keep staff and volunteers up to date about awareness months and minority religious and cultural celebrations they might not otherwise be familiar with. For this reason, Christmas and Easter, which are national holidays, are not included on the calendar. We know that most of our staff and volunteers have a good awareness and understanding of these festivals already.Christian holidays will continue to be marked on the physical calendars sold in our shops and online. We won't be creating a physical calendar which excludes Christian holidays.I hope this clears things up for you.Kind regardsSteveNational Trust

NT shouldn't be on a cashback site if they don’t want to provide the cashback

Accept Quidco referrals but refuse to payout for tracked / attributable purchases. They shouldn’t be on a cashback site if they don’t want to provide the cashback. National Trust provided a generic response saying I needed to speak to Quidco. Quidco say I have to speak to National Trust! It’s National Trust who’ve declined the tracked request.

Augustus · 22 December 2023

Agent replied · 19 June 2024

Hi Augustus. Sorry for your frustration and thanks for providing more information. Quidco is a cashback partner we work with. However, any issues with receiving cashback will have to be raised with them. It's not something we have the ability to investigate on our side. As much as we'd love to see 100% of cashback paid, due to the amount of parties involved we can never guarantee cashback. As long as our supporters follow the terms and conditions for the cashback offer you shouldn't have any problems. We have some T&C’s on our Quidco page which is a good start to check your orders. Quidco also provides a helpful guide to problem solve why cashback isn’t being tracked and provides a link to contact them to investigate the cause of the failed tracking. I hope the above is useful but sorry we can't help any further. Thanks for your support. National Trust

Wasted time Visited today with my wife

Visited today with my wife, travelled from the North East to visit the local area.Very disappointed we were denied access as a wedding was taking place in the afternoon.I wonder if the couple getting married are actually National Trust members.I strongly believe we should have at least been allowed into the Café and gift shop !!Definitely won't travel their again.

Hi Graham. I’m sorry you travelled to one of our places to find it was closed. Where possible we try and make sure events like weddings don’t affect opening times, but from time to time we do have to close our places. I hope you can have a better visit to another one of our places in the future. Thank you for your support.

A disgraceful, anti-white institution run by "ill educated, woke buffoons who arm themselves with their very own, "made up facts" that are in no way consistent with the truth.I was a member, but will never lower myself by doing so again until they desist from their "white hating" campaign.

It's disappointing when visiting…

It's disappointing when visiting national trust properties, that there isn't enough information to tell visitors what they are looking at.Parking staff at some places are also very annoying. Jumping in front of your car demanding to see my membership card. Surely the only thing I have to show my card too, is the ticket machine?I'm not sure I'll renew my membership.

Tristan · 17 August 2023

Agent replied · 19 June 2024

Dear Tristan Thank you for your review and I'm sorry you've been disappointed by some aspects of your visits. We agree there are some places where we need to update the information available and we're working hard to do so. Our local teams are constantly trying to improve interpretation and make it appealing to different audiences. Interpretation is under continual review and refreshing it is a core part of our teams’ day-to-day work. Our volunteers are also well informed and will provide factual information if visitors are interested. I'm also sorry if some of our staff have been over zealous in our car parks. Managing parking is often tricky and I feel sure there would only have been good intentions when asking for your membership card. Thanks again for your review and your support. We look forward to welcoming you again soon if you choose to renew. Kind regards National Trust

Disgrace

I along with thousands of others will be boycotting and cancelling membership because of what they have done with the calendar.Removing Christmas and Easter which are Christian festivals and leaving Muslim dates on It’s an absolute disgrace to the people of this country I truly hope no one actually buys and all Christian people stop funding them

Love the National Trust

We love going to National Trust properties. Everyone working or volunteering there is very pleasant and although we have visited the local properties several times we always notice something new. Great to see they encourage young families with games and competitions. The only negative is that the food is a bit pricey and possibly not best suited for children.

Richard · 8 September 2023

Agent replied · 19 June 2024

Hi Richard Thank you so much for your review. We're so proud of our locals teams and volunteers for making our supporters' visits special. It's great to hear you can visit places time and again and always enjoy them - I feel this way about Stourhead and my kids loved our recent Summer of Play. We also appreciate every purchase made in our food & beverage outlets. These purchases help us to look after these special places and aid in essential project works, caring for buildings, land, nature and the environment. I will feed back your feeling around the price of items to our central food & beverage team as our prices are standardised by the organisation. Thanks again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you at one of the special places we acre for again soon. Kind regards Chris National Trust

We love visiting National Trust properties. BUT small moan today we visited Hardwick Hall and in cafe we wanted a meal. Advertised sausage mash and greens at £11.95.
