Watford Connells

We sold our flat through Watford Connells.Good side:Although they did not bring in enough viewers, they managed to get a few offers and get the flat sold. The other agent brought in loads of viewers but no reasonable offer. So Connells deserves credit for that. Bad side:Communication - poor- you can not get hold onto them, do not return your call.- not informing that the viewing is cancelled. - Please do not believe what they say, rather read the contract before you sign. They do not explain everything. For example we were just told that we would get photographer fees back once the flat is sold. After sale, they said we did not use their conveyancer, so we would not get it back and that was in the small print. So, DO NOT SIGN contract with out reading small prints.

Steer Clear of this lot for your house valuation…

We were selling our house and a person from Connells came to value the house. If you want a surveyor to ubndervalue your house, use this lot. My estate agent says they are always having problems with thesThey undervalued our house £20K. Even Zoopla valued it £20k more than we were asking. I found the surveyor arrogant. Fortunately our buyer saw past this and went ahead anyway. Steer clear of this lot. They are not professional, just `up' themselves!

I used Joe for my mortgage. He was the only person who managed to find me a mortgage that allowed me to find a house in budget that met my needs. He explained things to me when needed and kept me updated along the way. The New Home hamper was a lovely personal touch. I would certainly recommend.

Avoid it !

Unprofessional staff! Avoid it !!! I rent a flat and when I had issue they never reply to my emails. They ignore you . Two months before the end of the contract they did not get in touch regarding my questions about the renew, I had to go several times, no one was in the office for letting . I also called them several times , no one was available for letting and they did not call me back . Two days before the end of the contract they asked me 114 pounds to renew it plus the increase rent . This agency is a joke !!!

Excellent support from Holly at Connells…

The service and support from Holly Savage in the Mortgage Services section of Connells has been truly fantastic during the most demanding past few weeks for my wife and I . Not only has she put maximum effort into finding an excellent Mortgage deal with a Building Society but she has helped negotiate the final deal on the property we have purchased. She is a credit to the company and we wish her every success in her future career in the industry.

Worst experience ever

Worst experience ever. We were told that there are four places available to rent that was in our budget, and the location. But no emails were sent, and we had to call them to send us an email. When we went for the first house viewing, the guy couldn’t get the door open which was very disappointing. In overall he was not really interested in helping us find the suitable place, and even though we were told that he would contact us again about the same house. We got no more updates on it!!Very Neglectful!

I would never recommend Connells.

I would never recommend Connells. To anyone who is considering using them I would say please don't ... Our experience was horrendous due to their lack of care and only added to the stressful business of moving. They seemed only interested in moving our property through their doors regardless of what it is worth. They agreed a good price with us but weeks later they were encouraging us to drastically reduce the price to get our property shifted, and I mean drastically, shaving more than £100,000 off the price. When it didn't sell quickly enough they terminated the contract, and still wanted paying. Be very careful. Read ALL the small print before signing anything.

Dreadful. Go elsewhere for a Home Buyers Report.

Dreadful. Contacted Connells on Monday for Home Buyers Report. Followed up twice by phone. Still no contact by Thursday so rang again. Repeated details a fourth time. They asked for payment immediately (no survey even booked). I rang them back to make payment and was told they couldn't accept payment on this number (they had told me to ring them back !) and they'd get the payments dept to ring me back. They never did. Going elsewhere because if they can't get the small things right you can't be confident they'll get the bigger things right.

I would never recommend connells

I would never recommend connells, their service is awful. I recently let my property out, and within the 2 months of the agreement with connells managing my property, the service has been appalling. The tenant has a minor issues which she raised, rather than the property management team taking ownership to sort it out, I was simply sent an email to call the tenant directly. What’s the point of having connells involved if I need to resolve it directly with the tenant. On top, none of my emails or calls were returned when I tried to resolve the tenants queries. I then learnt two weeks later that there were no letting staff available on my local office. This prompted me to raise a complaint. However, the complaint has also been poorly handled as I am still waiting for my refund of fees which were agreed nearly a month ago! Looks like I will be going to the ombudsman service.

Worse house sale ever

Worse house sale ever. Was lied to from the very beginning and this continued through the whole process. Received a written offer from them and they put forward a chain free buyer. This turned out to be an absolute lie and the chain in place delayed the sale by a long time costing us money. We accepted a lower offer as it was chain free. The team are poorly trained apart from in the art of lying and deceiving which they excel at. I would suggest to everyone that they use anyone except Connells.

I have reported Connells to the Financial Conduct Authority. i have now reported Connells to the Police.

I have reported Connells to the Financial Conduct Authority for the way they have treated me. I found out that Connells failed to pass on my Medical History when I went to claim on a PPI Policy, this was after I was diagnosed with an Asbestos related disease. I told Connells that I had 2 heart attacks and heart disease in 2004 they failed to pass on my Medical History to the underwriters.I was assessed at 25% Disabled. I was off work for 2 years I paid for this time off work out of my own savings. Connells Legal Department withheld my mandatory documents I made 8 requests for them. One request was made via the Courts which they totally ignored. This was a disgrace. If enough complainants report Connells to the FCA they will investigate and fine them. An agent from the Financial Conduct Authority asked me if I wanted to report Connells to the Police? after viewing my Evidence.

I wouldn't expect anything less of Connells :(

Unwilling to list a property as 'Sold Subject to Contract' or 'Under Offer' until a mortgage offer is produced. Meaning you are open to Gazumping in the early stages of applying (after paying mortgage fees and solicitor costs) This is UNLESS you use their in house mortgage advice...Despite having unnecessary meetings with their broker (at their insistence), proving affordability and providing evidence the mortgage has been approved in principle elsewhere.UNLESS you use their broker it will remain on the market...This is a blatant sales tactic to strong arm you into using their ancillary services. I wouldn't expect anything less of Connells. Possibly the most crooked estate agent out there. They couldn't care less about the buyer or sellers - only their bottom line.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID AT ALL COSTSHaving worked for Connells (survived, really) for 9 months, unless you can cope with being compulsively lied to by everyone you speak to, don't bother even calling up. The company is based solely on Mortgage Services so if you have your own advisor, tough luck, you won't be buying through Connells. They pick and choose clients based on who will bring the most income to the branch, not based on how the houses fit the buyer's or vendor's criteria. The employee turnover is enormous, the basic salary is a complete joke (worked out my hourly wage was less than £6), we get pay docked for actually taking an hour lunch break which we're entitled to, and the commission (3% of the FEE!) is a farce as well. After finding out I had been lied to by directors of the company since I started, I was slowly but surely pushed out of the company until I couldn't cope anymore and resigned, only to be put on Garden Leave and to have my commission docked by £300 because I hadn't been at work!Avoid !!!!!

Do Not go fully managed absolute scam

I rented out my property with connells estate agent fully managed (beware of hidden costs). Worst experience the tenant wasnt a bad tenant but I had to call every month they tried taking extra float payments lost keys my house is currently empty and they dont have acess to it and all of this for a monthly fee. I would never use them again they have cause me so much stress its unbelievable. Like I said the tenant wasnt too bad the stress came from there services I paid for. They took advantage of the fact I hadnt rented before left out additional cost such as final inspections and a yearly financial statement which cost me 200 pound

Abysmal Service

If I could sum Connells valuation up in 1 word it would be abysmal.I used Connells to carry out a valuation survey on a property I was buying recently. The Surveyor who turned up was arrogant, rude and despite paying £480 for the service was clueless. He didn’t even measure the external floor area of the building correctly, which is a fairly basic requirement. His attitude was poor throughout and I certainly won’t be using them again. The property I was buying was to a very tight deadline and it took an age for him to answer questions and at the end of it he still didn’t do what he was being paid to do and that was value it. Because he didn’t know what he’s was doing he just valued it as nil and said unsuitable for mortgage lending. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid!!!

If I could give zero I would! 3 years of letting a property from connells and its been utter hell! Avoid these people at all cost, the emotional distress they have caused us over the years is shocking and they never once apologised always quick to blame other people! We changed the date our rent was paid, signed all paper work then 3 weeks later we are getting letters saying we haven't paid but we had. Was calling Head Office and visited my local branch on several occasions for them to say it was an error and to ignore it. The following month the same letter but this time threatening to evict us and take us to court, again lots of calls and visiting the stores to be told every time its an error and to ignore it. This went on over a 3 month period with them sending about 4 letters a week at one point demanding payment for money they already had but in the end it turned out several head office staff couldn't be bothered to process the correct paper work. I filed a complaint and demanded some form of compensation for the emotional distress they caused us but they laughed in my face and said I wasn't entitled to it. Over Christmas last year we had a massive leak in the house, we had to turn the water off as the ceiling was on the verge of caving in, we rang and rang for 3 days straight for them to keep fobbing up off. When they finally bothered to respond to the issue they made tons of excuses. They hired a contractor who did a bodged job and for the leak to reappear again 2 weeks later. We have finally just left that property and the relief is unreal but today waking up to a letter saying we owe them money but we made sure were square with them before we handed the keys in. So again a fight on my hands to get to the bottom of this and them fobbing us off when chasing for our deposit back! Avoid at all cost, they only care about the money and their staff offer shocking customer service!!

Worst experience of my life

Worst experience of my life! Stay away if you are letting out your house! Connells of mutley plain plymouth must get the prize for the worst letting agents! They actually placed someone with a bad credit rating in my home after telling me the checked out well and were a professional couple. After I signed the contract they then kept sending me documents to sign to say I was happy to have people in my house with a bad credit rating despite their advice against it! ??????. What a year long nightmare, lousy tenants and dishonest and cheating estate agents who have no scruples. The list of problems was endless..non payment of rent, damage to all the carpets, pets (not meant to be there) to them loosing the keys to the backdoor when I finally got my house back. Found out the neighbourhood had complained to Connells about the state of the house and back yard full of dog excrement by email ....they also ignored. Don't go anywhere near them... they really don't care at all!

worst experience

worst experience. I offered full asking price on a property which they did not take back to the vendor. they then proceeded to ignore my contact. when finally I got a response they said the vendor had received an offer which they had accepted and wouldn't be taking any other offers into consideration. the whole thing was very dodgy and seems like was done under the table ,probably sold to a friend but definitely didn't seem like they had my interests at heart (despite harassing me the week before feeding me crap about really wanting to sell the property to someone like myself) or the vendors, where they could have potentially received more money for their property.

DISGUSTING PEOPLE

All 5 star reviews on google are from rich people!!! Honestly they only care about their commission!!! They have told this to a new employee which was my partner and he pretty much left because of this. And when he left they decided to charge him all the commison back that he’s earned them and within 2 weeks it was like £600. He had to pay that back monthly and he’s already spent it on our little baby. THEY ARE SCUM TO WORK FOR AND DEAL WITH!!!! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS THEY ARE RUDE AND INCOMPETENT....

If it were possible to 0 star that’s…

If it were possible to 0 star that’s the rating I would provide. Terrible agent. We received our property in a very unclean state. The agent couldn’t be bothered to tour the property with us on our first day. It was very unclean and the cooker window you could not see through due to the grease. Two years into our rental we received an email to request WE check if the pipe work was bonded and even identified in the email the h&s implications if not. During our term the cooker was cleaned, the carpet white and hoovered, the WC seat changed as the landlord left a little something for us underneath it, the kitchen worktop black mould free. However, on leaving the property they send us a report that due to dusting we are to be charged £170.00 cleaning fee. One I believe to be fraudulent as the tenant moved in two days after we left and I seriously doubt any cleaning took place. AVOID CONNELLS KINGS HEATH!

This company let 99A Churchfield Road…

This company let 99A Churchfield Road LU5 5HN and did so knowing the garden had been used as a dump. The council are now looking into it but said today that it should not have been let in that condition. This company were asked by me to put it right as I have to put up with their broken fencing and look at a tip. And the tennant is no better as he won't do sod-all and where does he work? For the council. However, when the council saw the pictures they put it over to their anti-social behaviour team. This company just take the money and run and I would advise you never use them.

Worst letting agency we have ever…

Worst letting agency we have ever dealt.Poor communication. Tenants left property and even we as landlords not informed of it. No reply from repeated calls/ emails. Now they are refusing to handover the keys to us (landlords) as end of tenancy property assessment not due until next week. Can't instruct another company or arrange viewing till this process will be over.Connells will be held responsible for loss of earnings due to their poor communication and mismanagement and I will be taking this to Citizen advise and county court if not sorted out mutually.Never seen such a poor management.

Please avoid!

From beginning to end of using Connells as first time buyers was a ridiculously terrible experience. We would have to constantly chase for any movement, the mortgage advisor would fail to send across important documents to the mortgage providers and avoided telling certain truths (lied) about the progress! Their inept approach was shocking to all around us who learnt of our experiences with them. Avoid at all costs!

It is hard to describe how terrible…

It is hard to describe how terrible Connells were as a letting agent.Months of delays getting repairs carried out, related to heating so should have been treated as urgent. Fault reports and emails were ignored, staff really did not seem to care at all. The plumber who came to our property numerous times was hopeless, eventually an engineer from the boiler company was called, fixed the fault but said the boiler hadn’t been installed properly so they wouldn’t continue to work on it.After 8 months of a cold house, sleepless nights, stress and hassle decided to move out, they offered compensation but had to chase them for that too, ignored and conveniently denied receiving emails again. Now in a really nice place with a great company who understand the concept of customer service, something Connells really don’t have a clue about.Would never recommend them to anyone.
