TrustpilotAvoid Connells, otherwise will cost you a lot
Arranged to view a flat. Given the wrong information by the agent during the viewing, based on the wrong information got the flat. Attempted to dispute, pointless. They hired cheater-negotiators, who are pointless to talk to, as they will not admit the misinformation provided by their agent and would not compensate or compromise on anything despite their fault. The worst agent we across to. Stay away from them, you will only lose money, effort, time and be stressed.

TrustpilotDon’t trust them when renting! Tenant experience.
As a tenant they were terrible, I moved into a place with a broken boiler and broken sockets which had already been reported and was agreed to already be repaired a week earlier. I had to wait a further 2 weeks after moving in and persistent emails until it was actually fixed. Previous tenants left junk at the property and I was told that I would have to pay to get it removed. Terrible communication throughout the tenancy but the worst was when I found somewhere to buy and was arranging to move out. They let the landlord in the property with no notification (contract stated minimum of 24hr), had viewings without any notification (again 24hr required), and then completed an inventory check out before I’d moved out! I then requested the check out to be done again, and they submitted the IDENTICAL report with the date amended (you can see this from the images having the date and time on them). Check out report tried to take our whole deposit for nonsense reasons and had to take them to the TDS where the claim of £850 was reduced down to £75.Then submitted a complaint to Connells for their terrible service who said I can take £200 compensation but threatened that I would lose the right to take it to any ombudsman if I took the offer.I luckily stood my ground but you shouldn’t have to, just avoid it and save some hassle and money.

TrustpilotDISGUSTING PLACE TO WORK!!!
I worked here for 6 months, worst decision of my life. Firstly the pay is nowhere near what they promise at the interview! No bonuses, never pay commission correctly, no rewards for hard work, only slate you when you make a mistake. No customer care whatsoever, all everyone cared about was leaving early. I was obviously on probation for the first 6 months, I was at a local branch, then the area manager threatened me that if I didn’t permanently move to a branch that was AN HOUR AWAY, he will need to “have a look at where I stand since I’m still on probation”. So I had to move branches in order to keep my job! When I left, they sent me threatening letters saying I owe them £600+!!! Disgusting company to work for. AVOID FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!

TrustpilotVery poor lettings team in bmth dorset
Very poor lettings team in bmth dorset. They advertise a property to rent, when i enquire about arranging a viewing are told we cant as viewings are fully booked. Ok, fine. I know the property and am happy to proceed to the application stage and let the landlord decide if im suitable. No you cant put in an application without a viewing?!?!?! They then ask for your details to bombard you with everything they cant sell.

TrustpilotNever rent a property from Connells
Never rent a property from Connells! Their customer service is dreadful when it comes to the tenants, as all they want to do is please the landlord in order to keep their revenue coming in! Months of waiting for repairs to hot water and heating, even with a child in the property, and then when you finally move out they delay the check out report by just long enough to prevent you from being able to use the Tenancy Deposit Scheme to settle their made up claims. (the check in and out reports carried out by Connells matched so there should have been no claim against the deposit, but three months later they make up claims in order to not repay).Avoid, Avoid, Avoid....

TrustpilotAvoid Avoid Avoid
Avoid Avoid Avoid. (Welwyn Garden City Branch )Total waste of the last 5 months. False promises, poor communication, poor pictures, no floor plan the list goes on.Took them 3 attempts to get the brochure correct with spelling mistakes and the photos are of shocking quality. Make no attempt to rectify things and just give excuses of under staffed and no general manager. Every time I complain they mysterious book a viewing but surprise surprise gets cancelled at the last minute over a email.Gave my 28 notice cancellation period which can’t come quick enough. Had 2 viewings booked after another complaint to head office the weekend just gone and someone actually called this time 8 minutes before the first viewing took place to say both had cancelled which I don’t believe. Please don’t waste your time and energy with them as their are plenty of well established estate agents who will take care of their clients. Even the solicitors they recommend have poor communication with with poor responses if any.

TrustpilotAppalling Valuation
These people came to our property to value it for a re mortgage, spent 6 minutes here, took 4 photos and valued it seriously low. A house 4 doors away, same style, no conservatory, no utility room and had never been modernised, sold for the same price he valued ours at ,6 weeks ago.Ours had also had over 23k spent on the front of the house including a new 27 foot driveway, how the hell can it be the same value !! DO NOT USE CONNELLS , they are an absolute joke.

TrustpilotAbsolutely diabolical!
Absolutely diabolical. I paid £650 for a valuation and they down-valued it by £30,000! I have a house opposite that is exactly the same and 18 months ago I had that valued. I suggested this house was the same as it is identical in every way and Connell’s valued it at 30k less. Shambles of a company. They’ve now not only cost me £650, I cannot get the further advance that I needed.Less than 1 star!

TrustpilotLiving up to a poor reputation.
I'm an unchained buyer who refused to pay £700 to use their in-house mortgage advisor (when I already had my own and a DIP from a reputable lender) before getting an offer accepted. As a result, being up against another buyer who had made an offer for the same amount, they supposedly had the advantage over me, or so I was told.Understandable perhaps, but what irked me was then not bothering to tell me that my offer was rejected, despite hanging me on for the best part of a month due to some complications with the vendor and my regular requests for updates. My advice would be to AVOID. There are better agencies out there.

TrustpilotUnwilling to give your deposit back.
Awful service for tenants. First, they try their best, along with a landlord, to deduct as much money form it as possible. Then delay paying it back altogether. They might be good for landlords though. I tried to reach them and asked for my money back a couple of time, but Laura Marshall and Gemma Gerrard are absolutely useless.

TrustpilotHouse valuation
Gentleman came round to value our property so we can release funds for an extension. Had it valued at 430’000 also zoopla valued between 399’00 to 440’000. He went away abs filled the report and valued at 385’000 which must be a figure he popped out of his head. He has caused us lots of issues and we are now appealing the process. Never touch them with a barge pole.

TrustpilotWish I could give 0 star
Wish I could give 0 starMy experience has not been the best since the start of our purchase. 1st off we went in search for properties and the person showing was unwilling and didn't know anything about the properties. We say a property we liked and made an offer which was accepted, then the nightmare started. 6 months in to the purchase and still not completed with loads of back and fourth asking always for the same information and stupid requests of things that make no sense.Paid fees and never got any sort of statement or vat receipt on proof of payment from anyone, requested but they just kept quiet, was setup for home insurance, life insurance, and other stuff without speaking with us or getting our consent to setup these options, not knowing what we were gonna get out of it or how much we would had to pay, really????I'm very disappointed, why doesn't the government or consumer offices intervene in businesses such as these with poor user reviews and bad customer service... I am pulling out of this sale and not working with Connells again, nor I recommend Connells to anyone, stay well away

TrustpilotAVOID!!!
AVOID!!!We purchased our first home together last year through Connells and never would I want to deal with them again. We also made the terrible mistake of using their solicitor! We were about to pull out of our sale due to various things coming back on the survey and the reluctance of the vendor to reduce the price to accommodate the work that was required as a condition of our mortgage. Connells told us the vendors had agreed a slight reduction in the price and to pay half of the cost towards the work. This was incorrect, the vendor had never even suggested they would pay towards these costs. Connells had lied. I had informed the solicitor of the price reduction, which was amended and the agreement to pay half towards the required works. This however, was never followed through and we didn’t find out until after the sale had gone through. We were first time buyers and put far too much trust in Connells to guide us through. We lost £2000 which we had saved for furniture, this then had to go on damp work as it was a condition of our mortgage. Connells never even apologised and made it out like I had imagined it! Absolutely disgusting customer service! If you have to deal with Connells then please be careful and DO NOT use their solicitor! Find your own, get EVERYTHING in writing and do not move forward with anything until this has happened! I do not want anybody else to go through what we have gone through!

TrustpilotRecent Sale in Round Green
I have recently sold a property through Connells, the service really was second to none. They gave a realistic and achievable valuation and then worked incredibly hard to get as many viewers as possible through the door. They were also instrumental in bringing the sale to a speedy completion by chasing all solicitors and agencies involved. Chris Blackham in particular deserves a special mention. I would not go to any other estate agent, a very professional, hardworking and committed team.

TrustpilotConnels estate agents are a disgrace
Worst estate agent i have had the misfortune of purchasing a property with, my advice to buyers and vendors steer clear. From the very start they mislead me, i was assured from the start that completion of sale would be in 6 to 8 weeks if i used their conveyancing service along with the vendor. (cash buyer no searchers required) it is now going into the 15th week with no sign of an end to this fiasco. The branch manager is rude to say least does not reply to requests for information and has a no care attitude to customers welfare, the senior salesmen is the image of the manager. In the last few days i have asked 4 times for updates from the branch and conveyancing team .... still waiting for them to get off their backside and do anything to help me . THEY ARE A JOKEPlease note the minimum star you can give is one when you place a review

TrustpilotConnells Valuations
As a broker I have had to deal with Connells on several BTL cases, the surveyors on these cases only put minimal effort in and seem to be hell bent on down valuing properties despite brokers such as me providing clear contradictory evidence. If you have a valuation instructed do you levels best to ensure it is not Connells, particularly if you are in West London & Brighton areas.

TrustpilotNot impressed by the quality of sales…
Not impressed by the quality of sales negotiators at the agency. I went to see a house currently advertised for sale by Connells. The sales negotiator was late for the viewing. It turned out that this was a group viewing - we were not notified in advance about that. Once he arrived, he struggled to get the key to work (the owner was not in the property at the time). He left us to wander around the house and wasn't able to answer basic questions about the property. I don't see the value this agency adds to the selling process.

TrustpilotAwful estate agents
Awful estate agents, we were first time buyers and had a mortgage in principle from Halifax and was really excited to get the ball rolling on a house that was on their books. My wife and I saw the house, loved it put and offer in and it was accepted. We were told then we had to sit with a Connell sales representive to go through our details. We then endured an over an hour grilling from a trainee mortgage representive from Connells (that to be honest she was dressed very inapporiatly), she then interrogated us, and trust me, it felt like an interrogation minus the torture for over an hour, they were constantly trying to get us to sign up to mortage with them. Even though we had mortgage in principle in writing and all the right letters and forms from halifax. They just didnt listen, Connell's were just awful to us, they basically wouldn't let us out of the shop untill we agreed to have Connells draft our wills at £1000+, when we refused they just started to be more rude and hostile, It got to the point where my wife burst into tears in thier office and so we got up and left the shop utterly deflated, we pulled out of the house, which we were gutted about because it was perfect for us. We knew the sellers from a friend of a friend and was later told that Connells told them we pulled out because we didn't have a mortage sorted, this was a BIG fat lie from them because we did, they just didn't like the fact that we pulled out of buying the house because of Connells. The next day we went to a rival estate agents on the same street and bought a house on the market that was up with both them and connells and had a fantastic experience and was treated with actual respect. Even months down the line when we moved into our house, the estate agents we bought from picked up the sold sign the next day. I rang Connells to tell them to pick their for sale sign up 3 weeks later it was still there so I bundled it into my car and took it around to their shop and dumped it in their office. I just wanted to share my experience with them, Connells are the estate agents that give other estate agents a bad name, I would never sell a property through them and i would never buy a house through them, even if it was my dream home. Never. It worries me that other first time buyers could be stung by their lies and malpractice. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Shame trustpilot don't do 0 stars because trust me Connells deserve it.

TrustpilotWorst estate agent I have experienced!
Rented a property through this agent, we were pressured to sign a contract before new laws about renting came into effect. We took the flat based on the verbal agreement that work would be done before we moved in, they them turned around and refused to carry out the work after contracts were signed and we were forced to carry out the work at our own expense. This agency does not care about the renter's they only care about landlords from what we have experienced. Emails are ignored and they show no interest in getting issues solved. I would never rent from this agent again and would advise you avoid at all costs!

TrustpilotThe only reason I’m giving a 1 star is…
The only reason I’m giving a 1 star is because I can’t give a “ minus 1”. The experience of trying to get my deposit back from them has been distressful to say the least. One month after the end of my tenancy my money is still not with me. The landlord had advised me on the 9th of Sep saying He’s instructed Connells to release the deposit. I tried to give them Time initially to get back to me when the deposit is processed. They got in touch with me on 13/09 asking for my bank details. Despite asking them while vacating the property if they would need any details from me for processing the deposit and despite getting a “no don’t worry, we have everything.” , they they didn’t have my bank details and could only ask 4 days after being instructed to release the deposit. I shared the details with them on 13/09. Still don’t have my deposit back. Multiple times the agent has promised me she’s chased up the concerned department and I should receive the money within 3-5 days. As far as I understand, legally, I should receive my full deposit within 10 days of end of tenancy with any agreed amount deducted. It’s both frustrating and legally incorrect to hold my money due to no fault of mine. I’ve raised the complaints with their complaints department formally and I’ve received a response after 5 days saying I should receive the money today. Promises promises no execution. Do NOT go for letting with them unless you want to go through this painful experience.
