TrustpilotConnells Lettings are stealing our money
Connells Lettings beyond awful. Too many problems to list here, but the final straw is that they are refusing to release the tenant deposit to partly offset considerable rental arrears, with no legal right to do so. They are basically stealing our money.Would have been so much easier to manage the tenants ourselves, plus we would have avoided the letting fees.Avoid these letting agents at all costs!

TrustpilotAwful estate agents and made the…
Awful estate agents and made the experience of buying a first home an awful one. I viewed a property twice and made an offer. During the first viewing, everything was fine. Second viewing they complained that the agent showing me around had to be at another appointment 15 minutes after mine. They do not communicate with each other, they fail to reply to emails and fail to answer the phone. I pulled my offer in the end and the reply I got was a demand to increase my offer. Will not be dealing with them again.

TrustpilotAvoid Avoid Avoid!!! 0 stars
If I could give a 0 star rating I would. At the end of 2020 I left my abusive partner and was promised by the Connells agent looking after the property we rented together that he would get me removed from the tenancy as my ex refused to leave the property. They then went back on this promise and have left me financially tied to a man that physically, mentally and emotionally abused me. My ex demanded he wasn’t going to be made homeless so I had to leave and that he would take on all rent and bills. He has now gone on not to pay any rent since I left and tried to demand I pay it. As you can imagine I have had to find somewhere else to live and can not afford to pay for my abuser to live in a house I (being pregnant) should of been able to stay in. Connells have continued to ignore any correspondence from me and just let the property go into 4 months of arrears with no efforts to remove my ex from the property. All I will say about Connells is that you should avoid them as a tenant and even as a landlord. They have no morals and are not interested in anyones circumstances.

TrustpilotKINGS HEATH BRANCH avoid it at all cost…
KINGS HEATH BRANCH avoid it at all cost I would not have even given one star in particular to Jason Westson Tate. After having to chase them for an appointment to arrange a second viewing. Jason had the audacity to accuse me of turning up to a house viewing on my own accord which I had confirmed with them that morning. They spend most of the time just delaying offers being put forward. Once they put the offer forward, they start a bidding war. If you are on the ball and you know exactly what you except from an estate agent then these bunch of egotistical, unprofessional and money grabbing people are not for you.I actually pity people who are trying to get their house sold by Connells I think if the vendors actually saw the conduct and the games, they play they would take their business elsewhere. In the field I’m involved I will not be recommending these unprofessional bunch to any of my clients. I certainly will not be buying houses from them.I’m glad I didn’t part with any of my money to continue to fund this level of unprofessionalism.I suggest Jason should review his personal failings as an unsuccessful gym owner and not to take his personal failing out on the public.

TrustpilotPoor property valuation experience
Poor property valuation experience. Stay well clear if you have the choice.Undervalued my property. I had 5 estate agents value the property ranging from £200,000 to £220,000. My mortgage company sent Connells to do the survey and the agent was in the house less than 5 minutes. He only went into 1 of the bedrooms and didn't really seem that interested. His valuation came back at £180,000. When looking at his report he had missed off the en-suite bathroom and the comparable properties where nothing like my property.Luckily I was still able to remortgage as I still had enough equity in the property but others may not have the room. I can see by other reviews that it seems to be a common issue with Connells down valuing homes. If you have the choice I would steer way clear!!

TrustpilotBuying a house in Cambourne
Buying a house in CambourneWas buying a house offered by connells cambourne, overall experience is not very good, but not totally bad that why I am giving 2 starsThey were trying to push us to use their services, mortgage advisor and solicitors, which we didn't, so they became a bit rude to us especially the mortgage advisor who was very rude.First agent wasn't really helpful at the start, kept shutting down our questions and requests, we knew nothing about the house and they were trying to help the owner hide any flaws in the house to complete the sale, which isn't professional or right. Was lucky to get a relatively good agent from connells by the end of the sale, but didn't really help fix the mistakes done during the start. If you are a buyer and had to deal with them, don't use their services. Also keep on the pressure to know everything or walk away, it is not worth it to buy a house if the seller and his estate agent are going to lie to you.

TrustpilotACTUALLY THINK ITS ILLEGAL
ACTUALLY THINK ITS ILLEGAL Had an offer excepted on a connells property but won’t use their financial services only to get a call to say the vendor no longer wants to sell was a little disappointed but thought nothing of it. Put an offer on a different property ( coincidentally another connells) this time before they said if the offer had been excepted they call me and in other words said if we don’t use their financial services we have no chance of buying the house. Because the house was only around the corner I went and spoke to the vendor who informed me they hadn’t received my offer and had taken a lower one but the buyer was using connells financial services! On the way home stopped at the first property that connells had said we’re no longer interested in selling only to find out that the vendor was told we had pulled out and we’re advised to take an alternative offer which transpired was £5000 less but surprise surprise the new buyer was using connells financial services! Obviously the vendor was not pleased! So connells not only use illegal practices against the buyer but also their own clients!

TrustpilotVENDORS AND BUYERS PLEASE AVOID!!!
VENDORS AND BUYERS PLEASE AVOID!!!We put an offer to buy our dream house and had everything sorted and in place including mortgage in principal. And this was an issue from the start as we did not want to use Connells services at all (like mortgage advisor and solicitors etc...). However, our offer was accepted by the vendors and we paid all the required fees (solicitors, surveyors etc) that are needed to get the process moving, from the very start Connells was not helpful and treated us very badly, I also had constant feeling that there is something wrong and wish I have read these reviews before paying any fees and starting the purchase process at all. Unfortunately My intuition was right!!! Connells found someone who sold the house with them and was happy to use their services and put an interest into the house we were in process of buying it. For a minute I thought that is a bad dream but they simply took the sale from us telling that the other buyers put a higher offer. I was confused how of our offer was accepted without any condition etc... I still however wanted this house and said we are happy to match this “higher” offer, but they did not let us saying, it will not be fair to the other buyer. I wonder how was this fair to us???, when we already paid for all the fees, had surveys done etc... We will be proceeding with the compliant as what Connells is doing, is completely wrong and from the legal advice we had, we’ve been told they act illegally!!! I just wish I read Connells reviews before! Then I would definitely have gone with other options we had at the time, as now we are left with nothing available in the area we are interested in and have gone through so much stress!!! Not even thinking of the money loss anymore! Please do avoid this estate agent!!!!

TrustpilotReview specifically for Ashfords senior lettings manager - Jan Gurr
I used Connells to buy my first property and also used their in house mortgage adviser, which I cannot fault either but due to my experience written further I will not be using again in the future. To start with I would say that if you are looking to rent with Connells and want to make changes to your property without any repercussions then this will be the estate agents to go for!I currently own a share of freehold flat situated above a property that is managed by Connells, the current tenants have made multiple changes to the exterior shared areas of the building resulting in causing damages to my property without getting consent from both them, the landlord of their property and myself which would usually be the correct procedure. The issue took over four days to resolve and my claims were originally dismissed and when the senior lettings manager to come out to have a look she openly laughed at the situation. The issue is quite clearly black and white, you should not make any amendments to the exterior of the building without prior permission so it should have been immediately removed with an apology and give me the confidence that this issue will not happen yet again, but this did not happen. This review is just to highlight how extremely poor the situation was handled by the senior lettings manager and I would urge anyone who is looking to buy a flat with Connells tenants located above or below them to reconsider. I Would also like to say again that if you want to rent a property and make it your own then I would urge you to go ahead with renting through Connells as there will be no repercussions at all.Complaint raised with the head office in regards to the handling of this situation.

TrustpilotPoor property management
Poor property management. You would be much better off managing your own property as there is no peace of mind that comes with using Connells. They happily take your fees but will do little to resolve any issues that arise. Communication within the establishment as well as with Clients seems to be lacking in my experience. Not what I would have expected from such a well known company. Very disappointed and would not recommend that anyone use them for lettings as landlords or tenants.

TrustpilotIf you decided to go with Connells for…
If you decided to go with Connells for mortgage, always concentrate on getting the Mortgage only as they are very good at that. As for anything additional like life/critical illness insurance and content and building insurance, you would be better of finding it yourself which can be done you complete in property purchas. It works out so much more when you join it with the mortgage. Always keep those two seperate ( mortgage & insurance), by doing that, who to say, you'd most probably get a better offer on mortgage.Always do your own research and not to take anything for face value. Also when purchasing a property, never, never, never start the legality e.g property searches etc. Always makesure mortgage is provided and approved, than start the legalities to avoid any loss of money. This does not get advised...I am advising from my experience with Connells.

Formal complaint in progress with the mortgage company but issues all born from this disgrace of a company. Happy to share emails and expenses.. Would avoid them at all costs0Thankfully secured a new deal and now all going through. If ur having a valuation from these, steer well clear

TrustpilotConnels valuation
Connels de-valuated my new build flat for 40k under the asking price. I went to barclays and successfully passed their checks and their valuation was the same day and it was positive.Connels do not have any process or any policies in place for new build homes as they solely rely on an EWS1 form. The bigger banks such as barclays can accept a comfort letter. In addition connels took 3 months to valuate the new build flat whereas barclays took 1 day.My advice is to avoid connels on new build flats where you can as they have no policies or procedures in place to deal with new build properties.

TrustpilotHarassment
Connells valued my house a few months ago. Since then they have been harassing me constantly calling asking if I've found a property yet, I keep blocking them and telling them to take me off their call list yet they keep calling back on different numbers. Based on this I would never sell or buy from these arrogant people.

TrustpilotAbsolute shambles of a company
Absolute shambles of a company. Wasted our time, fuel and Toll fees after not showing up to an arranged appointment with a round trip of 76 miles and four hours.Staff member we spoke to quickly blamed her colleague after arguing with me that it was "Not our fault".We did put in an official complaint, and were firstly offered £30 compensation, which we refused, this was then raised to £50 which we accepted just to see the end of them.We are still waiting for that £50 - 21 days later, and have now been told it will be another 28 days !!I dread to think how this disorganised office manage to sell property, I would think twice if I were you - rude, incompetent, childish staff and unprofessional.

TrustpilotWorst agent and didn’t even attend the property
We scheduled to arrange a lettings valuation and the agent just didn’t show up , no explanation as to why and when I phoned the gentleman on the phone didn’t even apologise on behalf of his colleague claimed he was on annual leave and a manager would phone me I asked that they don’t call me early morning and the manager who does valuations is actually off the day they were suppose to attend , there is no notes or discussion on the system of the property. I am shocked this agent gets any business at all. Considering landlords pay a fee once marketed ?

TrustpilotI was new to selling our family home
I was new to selling our family home, but the Connell's agent told me that they were the best and would be there through selling my home. NOT, the agent that signed me up told me my phone calls were tedious and leave it to the professionals, I went home and cried not sure if I as doing the right thing. 7 viewing no feed back until I asked, (professional) but was told 1 viewer thought my home was worth 40 grand under the selling price but couldn't tell me why, but Connell's couldn't either but told me to consider downing the price within two weeks even though I was getting views at my asking price. Not being or knows how it all works have pulled out, Connell's have left me feeling as if I doing something wrong, but in my heart I know I'm not, just need a caring agent that cares for its sellers, not its self.

TrustpilotWouldn't trust to even sell a loaf of bread
As a prospective buyer, Connells are the worst estate agency I have dealt with so far by a country mile.Viewed a property with them that, inevitably, was perfect. Throughout the viewing, we were told that the vendor was downsizing and hadn't found anywhere yet, but would take in offers and would review them all together once she had found and offered on another property. Fair enough, we thought. So imagine may absolute dismay when, 30 mins after the viewing, I phone to make an over asking price offer only to be told an offer had been accepted on the property that very morning. At no point was I informed about this during the viewing, and at no point was there an attempt to cancel my viewing. More alarmingly, Connells were more than prepared to forward my offer to the vendor, leaving the other party open to gazumping - clearly 'ethics' is nothing but a county in East England to Connells.Needless to say, I was gutted and it has put me off viewing any further properties with Connells no matter how perfect the property is. So as a potential buyer beware - the property you are viewing may not actually be available. I wouldn't trust them to sell me a loaf of bread.

TrustpilotAvoid in buying a property
For anyone interested in buying any property with Connell estate agency, don’t. I’ve been put on a list that apparently “expires after 10 days” for a property I wanted to view for the last two weeks. I called on the first week to see if I can view it yet but couldn’t as apparently they were “shielding” which is understandable. I called after the 10 days to be put back on the list to view it on the second week. When I called they already done all the viewings and that “suddenly” I disappeared off the list. I asked them to check both of them but their response back was that I wasn’t put down. Then denied all knowledge of me ringing when I have the call logs and emails. So if you’re considering this company, think twice before you do.
