TrustpilotAvoid!
Front office negotiators and managers were incompetent - when we initially put an offer in to let a flat they had worked out pricings wrong for deposit etc which we had to correct them. Throughout our time at the property they got our names wrong numerous times despite us again correcting them - it got to the point where we thought they were making a joke out of calling us by the incorrect names - very unprofessional. They also took my contact details wrong again despite me correcting them so I missed emails that were sent to me on plenty of occasionsThe Property Management team have no sense of urgency. We had broken oven for 2 months which we were unable to use at all - it seemed like we were chasing them as opposed to them chasing the landlord. Told it would be escalated but never was. We were advised to just try plugging the oven into a different plug socket to see if it would work which was ridiculous as the oven was fitted into a wall cabinet. Other things reported in the flat never fixed. Constantly us chasing for updates, never them coming to us with a solution. Deposit took over 10 working days to be returned, again we had to chase on this I've rented for 4 years and this is the WORST experience I've ever had.

TrustpilotRude
Rude, pushy and aggressive - avoid at all costs. I rang to request to see a few property brochures and see what was available - was put through to a woman who asked me 101 questions then became angry when I refused to answer some personal ones. I quote 'I'm not driving down and wasting my time if you refuse to answer' - I wasn't trying to book a viewing, and would have shared my info if I was shown brochure and saw a property I liked.

GoogleTrina was professional and very helpful. Replied very quickly to our questions and requests. Going the extra mile to allow us additional access to the property to collect measurements and ideas. Excellent service.

TrustpilotPoor service and bordering on illegal behaviours
I was a tenant with them. Very slow response time to any queries or concerns. I had to send numerous mails to request getting some mould in my bathroom removed. It took months to eventually fix. I had to email environmental health before they would respond to me. They gave the contractor the wrong house key when they came to finally do the work and when the contractor could not get inside they tried to charge me the call abort fee. It was exhausting dealing with them and they really are just a gang of crooks. Would not recommend from a tenant point of view as they charge very high fees also. If someone was not mature enough to stick up for themselves them would be severely out of pocket and living in a mould infested property.

TrustpilotAppalling company who seem only interested in their overinflated commission
If I could give Barnard Marcus 0 stars I would. Whilst they may have sold my property. In 6 months they found 1 potential buyer and I had to show him round. Throughout the entire period I had to chase them I complained on numerous occasions but nothing changed, and in the end when I complained formally in writing the response was "We understand you're not happy with the way your sale had been handled but none of the problems stopped the sale going through"Hopefully I'll never have to move again but if I do it won't be with Barnard Marcus.

Trustpilot1 star because I cant select 0 stars!
1 star because I cant select 0 stars!! without doubt the worst lettings agent ever, Catalogue of errors, poor service incompetent staff in Richmond branch (Benjamin German) and also the head office (Ann Marie Kirby/Daisy Saunders. Unable to resolve queries, no co-ordination between staff. constant telephone chaser call with no resolution. Elevated to manager (Francesca Mitchell) without conclusion. Still waiting for my deposit after another BM error in taking a mysterious fee!!Do not under any circumstances use this company they are USELESS!!!

TrustpilotAPPALLING SERVICE!! Avoid at all costs!!
I should have read the reviews here before engaging with this dubious estate agents - specifically the branch in Chiswick. I am the landlord of a property they let in July on a "find tenant only" basis. The agreement was for me to keep the tenant's deposit. Well, it is one month exactly today since they collected the all the funds from the tenants and I still have not seen the full amont in my account, they are still retaining more than £2000 of it. Its such an unethical bunch of individuals who constantly lie by email, phone and even face to face. The branch manager is probably the worst of the lot. He keeps blaming the delay on the accounts team and he claims he does not know why they are not executing the payment and he will follow up... its just absolutely ridiculous! its plain obvious that they just want to retain the capital for as long as possible to use it as working capital and improve cash flows, and they simply do not give peanuts about the clients and have zero consideration of the payment commitments they may have. Absolutely outrageous! PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENT AT ALL... real bloodsuckers!

TrustpilotI even don’t want to give one star…
I even don’t want to give one star because of very very cheap and low costumer services. Avoid them because of the cheap behaviour of staff. They value their own time not the costumer.

TrustpilotI was selling an ex-rental maisonette…
I was selling an ex-rental maisonette in Sutton Surrey. It had a short leasehold, which made the legal situation difficult. They found me a buyer, but obviously did not explain the legal bit. A few weeks later the buyer withdrew, quoting the legal problem as her reason. Then I discovered Barnard Marcus had withdrawn the property from the market at the buyer's request without even telling me. This is directly contrary to the guidelines they profess to support. Apart from that the business was more or less what you fear when you go to an estate agent. I will mention three instances:When they first viewed the property they quoted a fee of £5000. When I got to sign up it turned out that was £5000 + VAT, i.e.£6000.When they have a viewing or an offer they are supposed to send a written report. They did... to the property, even though they knew I had no reason to visit the property. This was not very helpful. Much later, when I found out I asked them to send mail to my home address. So the next one went to... the property. Once when I did need to visit the property I phoned to tell hem I would send someone in to collect the key while I waited opposite in my car. Yes, they said. No problem Sir. Only when my helper went in an hour later they denied all knowledge and refused to give him the key.

TrustpilotAbsolutely TERRIBLE service (Richmond…
Absolutely TERRIBLE service (Richmond offices). First, we were given the wrong information about the release of our deposit. We were asked to first go to the landlord in order to get our deposit. The landlord was on holiday so we waited for when he got back. The landlord then advised us that the deposit wad with Barnard Marcus. When we again approached Barnard Marcus (depending on whom we approached) we were then told that Barnard Marcus was now waiting for the landlords sign off!!! Not only were we given the wrong infornation but no action was taken to request the landlord for the release until after we chased Barnard Marcus a few times via calls /emails...When I requested tone am with someone in the office to escalate the issue i was told that the agent that we wwre dealing with was the manager of the office!!!We still haven't received our deposit despite receiving a go ahead from the landlord!!!!Stay away from this unprofessional firm if you want a peaceful tenancy and your deposit back.

TrustpilotDisappointing
Disappointing service. In my personal experience, I did not find the agency knowledgeable, I had to correct my name, and the amount agreed for a house purchase was wrong on the form, also not turning up for a viewing, and more. I don't blame the agency staff, something clearly needs to be fixed with the training. They are pleasant on the welcome and social side so I feel a bit sorry for them as I'm not sure where things are going wrong! I hope the managers can find a way to improve standards.

TrustpilotVENDORS - Spend that 0.5% extra
VENDORS - Spend that 0.5% extra to provide your buyers with a legal above board experience. We purchased a flat with Wintana at Barnard Marcus. They do not respect the law regarding conditional selling. We were forced to use in house solicitors to have our offer put forward. We were pushed to sign contracts when our property was not in the condition we offered. Very money-focused, no customer service whatsoever.

Overseas landlord with barnard marcus so hard to change agents at a distance. They are awful, they are slow to deal with any property issues, tell me the tenant is not responding, tell the tenant I am not replying. Fortunately the tenant and I contact each other so catch them out on lies.Do not trust them with your rental property

TrustpilotI signed a contract with them what a mistake !
I signed a contract with them in December, for 12 weeks, their staff over priced the property by £100,000.00 ! Local market knowledge !4 months later, i was told it was overpriced, as I tried repeatedly to get out of the 12 week contract which I believed to be over, I was told you then have to give a further 28 days notice !What a stitch up! avoid signing with them !Comment on agent feesThey got me to put the property on at £100,000 more than it was worth, with a fee based on this, then when the price was reduced wouldn't reduce their fee - its a scam to get more fee's !

TrustpilotUnprofessional
We agreed to move the 1st of March, the state agent asked us to live the 28th if Feb. We were trying to understand why pushing us to do so. We have previously arranged with our removal company for the 1st March. The state agent took 3 days to send us the contract over, just Te afternoon before we were supposed to move in. And it was delayed for a day, we had to reschedule the removal company many amd oay fees and change the date for a day where it increased £10 extra per hour! It is really disappointing and we were so frustrated. Don’t trust them and get anything written by email.

TrustpilotEstate Agencies immorality
It is immoral, unethical Estate agency taking deposit from the tenants and keeping it in their system to improve their cash flow. Maybe they are on the edge of bankruptcy.I agreed to rent a flat for 1300/month. then the agent said the landlord wants 1325 I said ok. We signed agreement and I paid £500 deposit, it was immediately deducted from my account. next day the agent said the landlord wants £1350 I said no I want my money back, aweek later said ok the landlord might consider your offer! I said no I want my money back! since 20 oct till now which is 31 oct I have not recvd my money and still asking them everyday to pay me my money. What should we do with people lie that?

GoogleBarnard Marcus took over our account from another agent. The difference in service was remarkable. They kept us informed at all stages and persisted with our account through the difficulties of Covid-19. When difficulties arose in the chain of moves, Barnard Marcus people were the only ones keeping us fully informed and chasing up all parties for progress. We have been delighted with their people and services.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value
