Myself and my partner were looking for a place around surbiton/kingston to rent at an uncertain time during the pandemic. There seemed to be plenty of properties available so we had booked several viewings at times where we could after work or weekends. The quality of the properties available was broadly poor and surprisingly, 90% of agents were so poor in terms of their contact (many of the popular ones said they would call back and never did!) and general attitude (arrogant and ill-experienced), which left us quite despondent. We gave a great deal to thank Humprey and Brand for all their efforts in securing us our flat which we couldnt be happier with. Our main contact (Paige) was honest, polite and responsive to our needs. From our first contact with the estate agents, it was probably only a matter of a week or 2 before we had found our place and moved in with all options considered and the least fuss, paperwork or fees we have ever had to deal with. I would heavily recommend giving them a call to find out for yourself if you are looking for a property in their scope.

They H&B team pulled off the impossible ! I was selling two properties which needed to exchange and complete on the same day - during Lockdown ! Not only did they accomplish this feat they also dealt with the drop out of a buyer of one of the properties and was still able to find a new buyer to ensure the chain and the completion date was kept in place. From the outset Michaela's approach to business was impressive, she was knowledgeable and helpful with a non pushy style. We have just sold our house through Humphrey and Brand and we were very pleased with their service. We mostly dealt with Craig, who was extremely friendly, professional and very tenacious on our behalf. He certainly knows his market. We originally put the house on the market for £50k more than Craig recommended and didn't get any interest. When we dropped it to the price originally suggested by Craig we very quickly had two offers. Craig managed to get us £10k more than the guide price. Extremely disappointing and poorly…

Extremely disappointing and poorly handled experience. We were asked to provide an excessive amount of personal and financial information, including full credit reports and bank statements, before the landlord had even agreed to proceed. We then paid a security deposit and signed a tenancy agreement, were given a move-in date and key collection plan, and were led to believe the tenancy was effectively progressing as normal. Only after all of this did the agent state that the landlord was “not comfortable” due to our credit scores, despite explanations having been provided upfront and references, affordability, employment and rent history all being satisfactory. This should have been identified far earlier in the process, before taking deposits and issuing legal documents. The referencing process felt disorganised and inconsistent, with missing documents only being flagged very late, and checks seemingly carried out after key commitments had already been made. It caused unnecessary stress and wasted a significant amount of time at a very sensitive point in the moving process. While deposits are now being returned, this experience lacked professionalism, transparency and proper sequencing. I would not recommend this agency to prospective tenants and would urge others to be cautious about proceeding before landlord approval is clearly confirmed.
