GoogleMy moving in date should have been an exciting day but instead, I was handed the keys to an uninhabitable flat. Knowing that they hadn’t even checked the flat when the previous tenant moved out just 3 days prior, the guys at the East Twickenham branch of Antony Roberts happily took my money and handed the keys over to me. I was shocked to discover that not only had the flat not been cleaned at all, but in addition to the broken floors and unlockable doors, the flat was in a bad state. When I informed the agent of my shock, I was made to feel like I was in the wrong and treated like a bad, annoying tenant. It took 11 days into my tenancy for everything to be put right. All the while, the agent kept reminding me (not in so many words) that they are doing me the favour of getting the flat fixed up. They accepted no responsibility and still expect to take a full month’s rent form me. Even when I took this further to senior management, they apologised that I felt the way I did (how patronising?), but again took no responsibility for the failings of the letting agent. They obviously sided with their team again, still expecting a full month’s rent despite the flat only being habitable for 2 thirds of the month. I’m very disappointed in the way senior management dealt with (or didn’t in this case) my grievances. A despicable company to engage with, I urge everybody to steer clear and go to a company where you will be treated with the respect you deserve as a paying customer whether you’re a tenant or a landlord.

We needed to sell our house in Kew, in deteriorating market conditions, and under time pressure to pay back the bridging loan for the house to which we were moving. We chose AR on the basis of their presence in and knowledge of our area; and of personal chemistry when we first made contact with Jonathan Glover. He and his team steered us with great skill and understanding through the twists and turns, many unexpected, of what was bound to be a challenging process. They found buyers who would, we felt sure, make the most of a house we loved. They brought us gently to agreement on a fair price. They helped us (and our buyers) over obstacles put in place by others. They gave us quick and reliable advice whenever we needed it. In any complicated transaction of this kind, you need an experienced and empathic guide. Jonathan took on that role, with patience and grace. He did all we could have asked and more. He and his team are a credit to their often (not always unfairly) derided profession!

Very nice and informative agents who adapt to your pace of house hunt rather than pushing you, or turning up late like some other agents do! They're quick to reply with any concerns.
