I am considering my first buy to let property and in the course of my research I have visited about a dozen agencies around Harpenden and St Albans. One in particular stood out from the rest. It was Raine and co in London road, St Albans. The gentleman I spoke with his name was Mike, I found him to be very pleasant and with over twenty years experience in Estate agency, he gave me many pieces of advice that none of the others mentioned. Absolutely ridiculous experience... booked a viewing in welwyn garden city and was told 15 min before the appointment that the property was let by another agency.. this would have also been fine if they had informed me themselves instead of me having to call them while I'm pretty much right outside the property..I was also informed through someone else rather than the person who organised the viewing... considering it also took 3 hours to get there and a considerable train fare cost... Very unhelpful in terms of customer service as well .. pretty much tried to get out of a phone call as soon as possible rather than take the time to speak to a prospective tenant.. they also don't seem to have the basic facilities of email confirmation of appointment with details of the property eg. Postcode,number of house etc and time of appointment.
