GoogleShockingly rude. My first experience with this particular estate agent and I'm so glad to say that I'm thrilled they showed their colours before I even rented a property from them. I booked a viewing through their website on a property they have advertised where the tenant would be out 'in June'. No mention of June 2025, just June, so anyone would assume June this year. Why would an estate agent communicate that so badly? I got a call back on Monday to confirm my viewing and the man I spoke to confirmed my 6:30pm viewing on Tuesday 13th August. He called me, so he had my details. I turned up at the property 45 mins early to scout the area, and thought I would give the estate agents a call to make sure someone would be meeting us there as no one had sent an email or any means of confirmation about this evening. I'm so glad I did because it really sealed the deal for me! No one provides their names when they answer the phone by the way, they just expect you to know who you spoke to. He was so impatient and rude in telling me I have it wrong because my details don't exist on their system, and there is no viewing arranged for tonight. Really? Is everyone at that branch incompetent? Why did one member of staff confirm and answer my questions on Monday morning and another tell me on Tuesday, there's no record of me on their system? YOU RANG ME ON MONDAY FROM THE DETAILS I PROVIDED ON YOUR WEBSITE.
To the rude, insulting man I spoke to tonight, please don't feel you are the only property I am viewing. I'm viewing many.. I just want to say thank you because I will never go near Addison Townsend again, nor recommend them. I hope your company provide you with basic telephone skills so you can in future, conduct yourself in a more professional manner. But thank you, you saved me from what could have been a total nightmare for £2,000 per month. Keep it.

I have reviewed the sequence of events that have led to your 1 star review. Our calls are recorded and I have listened to the phone conversations of Monday 12th August and Wednesday 14th August, and reviewed your online communication.
You initially enquired via our website on a property, The Green in Winchmore Hill, this property is marketed as Let and is therefore not available. The advertising on the property clearly states the property was available on 07 June 2024 (I am not sure why your review mentions June 2025 as this was not mentioned in any correspondence or advertising). A tenant has recently moved into this property, resulting in the ‘Let’ tag on the website.
You state in your review that you booked a viewing on our website; our website only provides a request form for a viewing and clearly states ‘Please complete the form below and we'll get back to you make the arrangements’. We received your online request and subsequently our Lettings Manager Daniel Hawkey, who confirms his name to you on the call, called you and discussed another property we have available in Wades Hill. You at this point disclosed that you have a pet and Daniel advised that he would need to check with the landlord whether this was acceptable as the flat has an underlying lease dictating whether pets are allowed in the building. He continued to state that if this was not acceptable he would keep you advised if other properties were to come available in which a pet would be acceptable. A viewing was not arranged for any property during the call and so your statement in your review that a viewing was arranged is factually incorrect, this is why no confirmation was received by yourself with regards to any viewing.
You subsequently called yesterday evening and spoke to another member of staff, as Daniel was not in the office, to say you had arrived to view a property. You were initially not sure if you were calling the correct agent, the name of the person who you had spoken to, or the property you were meant to be viewing. The member of staff searched your phone number and advised that you were not registered to the system with a viewing booked in. You then stated that you believed you were booked to see a property on The Green which the member of staff advised was Let and not available. You accepted the property was marketed on the website as Let but questioned if it was not available why it was advertised and why you were able to book a viewing. You were advised by the member of staff that it is standard practice to advertise properties on our companies website that are Let for a short period to showcase the agencies successful business but that you had not booked a viewing. At which point you hung up ending the call.
I understand that it is frustrating that you went to a viewing you believed was arranged, however, as detailed per the course of events a viewing was not arranged via our agency. Therefore, I do not believe a 1 star review for this course of events is a valid reflection of our service. We have a large and successful rental side to our business and this is reflected in the number of 5 star reviews we receive for this service.
