Renting with M Coleman has been an absolute nightmare and I have always wondered why everyone struggles with Estate Agents. Now I know. Our property was transferred from private landlord into this estate agency and since then, problems started arising. Urgent or essential maintenance requests would often be brushed off under the “we’ve just completed important roofing works, we are not in the position to carry out any more works” - my neighbours leaky shower often resulting in flooding the space is not a problem, my upstairs neighbour flooding my downstairs studio is not a problem either. I get it, I work in a similar industry so I understand what can be done and what can’t be done. What’s amazing is the attitude when you raise concerns - “roofing works” have completed and no essential works have been carried inside the flats, resulting in an insulting rent increase. My mold issues that I’ve been raising for years to both the landlord and now the agency, are “an interesting culture of sorts” that they “applaud me for its size”, as if I’m bored and out of laziness I’m growing mold. Yes, i certainly love to live in dangerous conditions. Despite raised concerns, This was brushed off and the next email I received was regarding my shoe rack outside my door which is not blocking fire exit - bear in mind that there are ladders and rubbish upstairs blocking any entrances and exit. I feel targeted and as result I was unable to live in my flat consecutively. Another important thing to mention is that contractors walk into your flat without any prior 24 hour notice (legally required), this happened on multiple occasions. I could go on and on but I’m tired of arguing, do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. However I would like to mention that Jayne, who’s one of the agents, is the only accountable person in this company who’s trying her best to help however I notice that the problems stem way above and outside her control.

Our experience with Mcoleman wasn’t very positive. At the start it was great, we viewed a house we really fell in love with and offered on it the same day. We booked a survey as it was 100 years or so old and was worth checking a few things. The survey cost around £725 for a level 3. After we booked the survey and were financially invested in the property, we were informed that the agents had been told about some historic subsidence at the property and sent us some documents stating that it had been partially fixed around 10 years ago. We pulled out of the purchase soon after we discovered that the property had suffered from subsidence in the past. As first time buyers we felt it would have been biting off more than we could chew. As we weren’t informed of the subsidence on any of our viewings or before we had our offer accepted we ended up contacting the property ombudsman to try and recover the £725 we spent on the survey as it was spent before we were informed of the subsidence. As Mcoleman had been looking after the property for around 10 years as it was rented out, I find it hard to believe that they weren’t aware of the issue before we booked our survey. We ended up only recovering half of the survey cost in the end.

Louise found us exactly the house we'd asked for and then got us the best price for our old house. Through the whole process she and Ben were completely professional, totally helpful and sympathetic to all our requirements. We can't recommend them highly enough.
