I would definitely be recommending Connells to anyone who wants to rent an house!! After a rocky start regarding communications between myself and the agency, they have definitely turned my opinion around. They have gone above and beyond for myself and my husband as we have gone through this moving in process. They have taken aboard any issues or problems that we have had and have sorted it out as swiftly as possible. My husband and myself are happily in our new home so glad and appreciative that this whole process went so smoothly. Thank you Connells especially to Bethan who have worked so hard to make sure that we were able to move in to our new home so easily and in the timeframe that we wanted. Myself and my husband are so grateful for you all!! We hope that this level of cooperation continues throughout the duration of our tenancy and also to others who choose to use Connells.

Landlords - look elsewhere

Landlords, look elsewhere! Rent collection works, but everything else with Connells Property Management has been a shambles. I experienced falsified inspection reports, requests to approve unlawful actions, ignored rent reviews for over a decade, questionable inventory and reference practices and unauthorised spending. Communication broke down to the point tenants dealt with me directly, making Connells fees a waste of money.

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with Connels. I was first advised to auction my house for a speedy sale. Although I did want a quick sale, they did not explain the implications in terms of fees and selling price. When I called, no one one would answer or return the call. The onus was always on me to get feedback from viewings. I changed estate agent as Connels lost a sale - they told me they gave up trying to contact the potential buyer as they didn't get through to him after a couple of attempts and they just assumed if he was still interested he would be in touch. When I changes, someone who viewed the house called the new estate agent to enquire. Obviously, they were not able to have a second viewing but explained to the new estate agent that Connels did not answer any of their questions and did not show the house properly.

Initial sales pitch was promising

Initial sales pitch was promising, which lead us to believe that Connells would be competent and trustworthy. What lay ahead was Rude arrogant staff who lied too us , no apologies or recognition of responsibility and sarcasm on phone calls. According to sources Connells are reviewing their finances. If our experience is anything to go on it won't belong before the administrator is in.

Very poor experience with Connells

Very poor experience with Connells. I was quoted a clear fee to find new tenants which was supposed to include references, Right to Rent checks and the tenancy agreement. Instead, I received a statement with lots of extra and duplicated charges. I also had major problems getting my deposit refund, with poor communication and conflicting information from staff. The whole process has been stressful and frustrating. I will not be using Connells again.

Connells Falsified my Valuation Report!

Connells did valuation report on my house recently. It is a comedy of errors by this company. Firstly, they tried to falsify my report by adding that my property was in a flood area and had previously been flooded. All of which was proven to be incorrect and instead of altering the valuation report to suit this they refuse. They significantly undervalued it even after comparable evidence was supplied to them. The house in question is on the same street as my own and I have been informed by various other companies that this should have been used. Stay clear of this company, ideally check that this company will not be providing any valuation reports on your properties..

I used this branch of Connells to let a flat and would never use them again and further more wouldn’t recommend anyone looking to find a place to rent to use them.My lovely tenants tried for over a week to call them to get their deposit refunded and no one ever answered the phone I also tried with out any success.I had to ring a branch of Connells in Kent to get help .Poor service and not much help after a complaint through Resolver to their head office.AVOID -1/10 We’ll today the 11th February 2022 some 3 months after my tenants vacated my property they still haven’t got their deposit back ,I am absolutely discussed with CONNELLS ESTATE AGENTS AND IN PARTICULAR THE FILTON BRISTOL BRANCH WHO ARE THE OUTFIT THAT WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTRACT AND LETTING OF MY FLAT .I phoned and spoke with the manger a mr Jeff Burrows but he said he couldn’t help even though he’s the manager (that should tell you everything you need to know about this dreadful outfit of so called letting agents.Three months ago I was in contact with the head office and dealt with Manager Emma Bricusse, manger Joanne Wong, and the regional manger MARK BURGESS .Who assured me the matter of the deposit would be sorted, well three months later and I am still being contacted by dissatisfied tenants because this bunch of cowboys haven’t returned their deposit.Bering that it mind my advice based on my personal experience is tenants and landlords AVOID AVOID AVOID THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY.THEY ARE IN MY OPINION RANK AMATEURS.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I am currently renting a property in Derby city centre managed by Connells/Burchell Edwards, and my experience has been extremely disappointing and, more recently, unacceptable. At present, the property is uninhabitable. I have been dealing with a faulty toilet pump for over 12 weeks, despite reporting the issue promptly, which has now completely clogged and is unusable. I have also been unable to use the shower for the past 3 weeks due to a damaged bath. As a result, I have been forced to temporarily move out of the property, incurring significant disruption to my daily life, work, and wellbeing. From the outset, the tenancy was problematic. Prior to moving in, I requested a second viewing to check appliances and general condition of the flat, which was refused. During my memorial viewing I stated that the place was dirty, but I was assured the property would be professionally cleaned; however, upon receiving the keys (after a two-hour delay caused by incorrect keys and no electronic fob to access the building) the flat was in a poor and unsanitary condition. Issues included visible mould around windows, dead insects throughout, mouldy food on the cooker and kitchen cabinets, unplumbed kitchen sink and broken sink pump, damaged and unsafe fittings including loose sockets and radiators, a covered smoke alarm, no locks on doors that were advertised as lockable, and general disrepair and waste left behind. They also advertised the building as having decent internet wired in, but this was not true as there is none available. Although a maintenance contractor was eventually sent, it took weeks for the sink to be fixed, and in the end only some issues were addressed, leaving several unresolved which I had to sort myself. Some are still issues to this day despite repeated reports. More recently, serious problems have been handled with a dreadful lack of urgency. A broken washing machine has taken 9 weeks to be arranged but has yet to be fitted. The ongoing toilet issue, caused by a faulty macerator pump that I reported on the first day of the fault, has still not been resolved after three months and has now completely failed, nearly flooding my bathroom. Furthermore, after reporting that the shower had broken when stepping in it, there was no response until I reported it again after 2 weeks, and I have since been informed that repairs are being postponed while the landlord seeks cheaper quotes. In the meantime, I remain without essential bathroom facilities in a property which I am paying full rent for. Throughout this process, communication has been poor or nonexistent, and there has been little acknowledgment of the severity of these issues. I have not received a meaningful apology, and the lack of action has caused considerable stress and inconvenience to both my work and personal life. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise you avoid this company at all costs.

Connells is a terrible agency that you should not work with

Connells is a terrible agency that only cares about you until the contract is signed. After being exemplary tenants for over 2 years, we have received zero support or flexibility. Despite the standard practice in the UK, they refused any 'rolling contract' options, forcing us into rigid fixed terms. Most importantly, the 'Break Clause' details provided by the agency were highly misleading. Even the Landlord, the Agency, and we (the Tenants) all had different understandings of the move-out dates due to their poor communication. While most professional agencies help find new tenants to allow flexibility, Connells only focuses on forcing you to stay until the last possible second, regardless of your perfect tenancy record. They do not care about the human element or the financial strain on tenants; they only protect their own interests. Save yourself the stress and avoid Connells at all costs.

Bad landord

My daughter was in one of the poorer maintained properties for a year whilst finishing a degree.. on leaving the property without any damage etc and cleaned the landlord started to use silly excuses to withhold the deposit.I must point out conells were not responsible for the maintenance and care of the property.Connell management stepped in and resolved the matter and the deposit was released .So a bit thank you to Connell for doing this.I would’ve given five stars, but it took a couple of months and a lot of frustration which is mainly down to the landlord. Would I recommend Connells In the future? Yes I would.

Time Wasters

I booked in to view at property with Connells on Saturday at 11am. I arrived 5-10 minutes early, after a long journey and waited for the agent to arrive. When no-one turned up, I called the office twice but there was no answer, so I left a message. I eventually had to give up waiting as I had viewings booked in with another agency. At 4pm (5 hours after my viewing was booked for) they phoned me back but had no idea why, only that they had a missed call from me!! I explained what had happened but the response was "sorry that property is now sold". No cancellation text or email was sent to me.

Avoid

Quite possibly the worst customer service (or lack thereof) that I have experienced. Complete lack of care and professionalism. I was subjected to undue pressure to make an immediate decision to pay a holding deposit for a rental property; paid the holding deposit and agreed on a move-in date. At the time of writing, it is the day before the agreed move-in date and I have received no information whatsoever, not even to say that the tenancy won’t be going ahead. When I requested an update earlier in the week, I was told that Connells are busier than other estate agents; that it’s perfectly normal to want a decision during or immediately after a viewing a property that had been advertised for some weeks; and that it’s perfectly normal for estate agents to provide no further information because they are busy. I’m now left in a situation where I have packed all of my belongings with nowhere to go and a holding deposit paid. I have had far better experiences with estate agents such as James Lawrence, Vision Properties etc and would recommend them over Connells. Avoid at all costs!

We are absolutely disgusted with the…

We are absolutely disgusted with the way this situation has been handled. We placed a deposit on a park home in good faith, fully expecting that we would be kept informed of any deadlines or time scales relating to the sale. The park manager had apparently relayed a time frame to the estate agent, yet this crucial information was never passed on to us. Without any warning, communication, or opportunity to respond, the property was sold behind our backs. Had we been properly informed, we would have acted immediately. Instead, we were left completely unaware and have now lost the home we had committed to. The lack of communication, professionalism, and basic courtesy throughout this process has been appalling. We are completely livid with how this has been handled and extremely disappointed in the estate agent’s failure to keep us properly informed.

I have been a customer of Connels a couple of times trying to sell a flat which has cladding issues. Not an easy sale to take on and unfortunately they were unable to sell my flat. However, this was through no fault of their own and I can’t imagine another estate agent that would put in as much time, effort and emotion into their work. Tony, Charlie and the rest of the team are absolutely fantastic and always had our best interests at heart. Our sale was a risky proposition but they all went over and above. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough- absolutely brilliant!! If we ever get our cladding sorted we will be back with them again!

Stay away - they are more interested in selling themselves than your house.

I contacted a branch of Connells in January with a view to choosing them as agents to sell my recently deceased sister's house. I felt in my meeting with them the agent made too big a deal about their success as large national company and their innovative sales methods and chose not use them and gave feedback to the agent. A few weeks later once the house was advertised by a rival local agency I was phoned by Connells trying to interest me in buying a house. I feel this was totally inappropriate use of my contact details. Rather than a giving a direct apology the young man (he sounded young) gave me a similiar spiel about the wonders of Connells I heard before. My advice is stay away from the corporate monolith that is more interested in selling itself than selling your house.

Worse experience our lives

Sold our property though them and it was one of the worse experiences of our lives. Verbal agreements and prior discussions to signing with them were not honoured in the contract. After going through their compliance team and met with no resolution, our complaint is currently being reviewed by the property ombudsman. There is zero customer service or apologies for things that go wrong and if there are any delays or issues you will be met with the fact that when you sign a contact with them you are agreeing to pay their fee for completion of a sale only as it's not an SLA. Therefore you are not signing for an agreed level of service which basically means they can do whatever they want. Even management and Area Director's don't give a toss and was even told by one that we were making a mockery of their contracts. Connells are hard nosed and don't look at vendors as humans, but simply as a financial transaction, despite house moves being one of the most stressful experiences in peoples lives. We had to chase for feedback of which was always pretty vague, their vendor app never worked depsite asking numerous times for it to be resolved, we had to rewrite the description of our property, changed the photos on the advert and took better ones with a Samsung phone. Oh and be aware of their photographers who when you suggest photos for your property, you will likely be met with 'no that won't work' or when you make suggestions on a USP for your property for it to be ignored as what do you know? (You have only lived in the property for X number of years) As it turned out s requesting for a change in photos and layout ended up with the sale we needed. After being stuck in this contract with them and no way out to sell our property quickly (we had bought a I am Sold Auction property) we took matters in to our own hands and did the viewings ourselves. After Connells marketing the property for 6 weeks with 10 viewings and no offers, the 4 viewings we did ourselves resulted in 2 offers of which one we accepted. After questioning all of this with Connells their response is sorry you are unhappy but we did get you to completion....well after paying £2.5k they didn't really get to us completion on their own. They registered an applicant and we basically secured the buyer ourselves. Please be warned about their tactics and their lack of transparency. The one saving grace was Adam who once we had an agreed sale was always amiable and friendly chasing up legal aspects. He is completely wasted in this toxic environment when it seems that the negotiators 'own' applicants, so don't be surprised when you call and want feedback, if you aren't talking to the negotiator who signed up the applicant you are unlikely to get any useful feedback. We now have another property for sale and wouldn't touch a traditional agent with a bargepole and have signed up with purple bricks for £399. After learning that anyone can take photos, and do a floorplan plus your own viewings this is a considerable saving. We have been really impressed with the ease, speed and follow ups we have already recieved with an online agent compared to a traditional one. At he end of the day remember with Connells you are not signing a SLA, you are only signing to commit to paying their fees when you complete - regardless of how they perform until you get to that point. When you run into issues with them don't expect any apologies, or compensation with them, expect to be gas lit and blamed for not reading a contract properly.

Terrible exerience with Connels

I am not sure if all estate agents are money grabbing, corner cutting vultures but my experience with Connels Worcester has been horrible. They ofcourse charged me with a £600 tenant finder fee, and have convinced me that the zero deposit scheme will ensure if there are any damages to the property they will be paid by the tenant(s). Ofcourse the apartment was left in shambles despite having regular inspection visits at my request and the repairs done to the flat were horrible. I would recommend finding a different management company to manage your property if you cant do it yourself. Absolute livid by their horrible service
