Fantastic valuation experience with Purplebricks

Joe was fantastic when carrying out my property valuation. He was friendly, positive and professional from start to finish, making the whole experience feel relaxed and reassuring. He explained the selling process clearly and simply, answering questions and making everything easy to understand. I particularly liked the straightforward approach and the fact that I would have complete control over the sale of my property, rather than feeling pressured or having things taken out of my hands. It always make me laugh when you watch…

It always make me laugh when you watch an American property programme and the Realators talk about getting their 'Red Jacket' like its a degree or some kind of acolade, which it may be. In the UK you can be one with ease but the lovely lady from Plymouth is so genuinely down to earth it is a pleasure to act forme and deserves every penny she earns. The high street agent in my town that was going to take ten grand of my hard earned children's inheritance should wear stripey jumpers and a mask...in my opinion.

Found dealing with Purplebricks really…

Found dealing with Purplebricks really easy and found the app very useful for dealing with viewings and messages. We handled the viewings ourselves and had no issues with this. We used the solicitors recommended by Purplebricks and this is the only thing I would do differently. Premier Property Lawyers was shocking, couldn't get hold of them on the phone and the lack of communication especially in the final stages of the completion was especially bad. What should have been a straightforward process was extended due to the lack of communication between solicitors. Some of this was down to the buyers solicitors but the Conveyancer we had seemed to have a fear of picking up a telephone and a lack of interest in completion.

From the initial phone call to the day I met the property agent for my first viewing, the staff have been friendly, polite, and honest throughout the process. They were happy to support with my queries, and when showing me around the property, they were knowledgeable about the surroundings. They made contact to be sure I do not miss a viewing appointment. I had dealings with other agents before, but Claire was exceptional. She later introduced me to Amanda, who picked up from where Claire left off and continued to the day my offer was accepted. I highly recommend PurpleBricks to anyone looking for property to buy or let around the Nottingham area. They listen, support, and deliver.

Unhelpful valuation and fees payable regardless of sale

The seller is committed to the selling fee regardless of the outcome giving no incentive for Purple Bricks to complete with a potential off load to another party if not sold (agent did not know their fees). The valuation was driven by the seller after reviewing comparable properties sold or for sale in the area. There was no professional guidance from the agent apart from an online general valuation which was very broad (+/- tens of thousands) and provided no specifics of how it was arrived at. As such the pitch seems to have been driven by taking the property on board so the fees were paid and little support to the seller to market at an achievable price.

I sold my previous property through Purplebricks and the experience was smooth and stress free especially not having to worry about the cost of commission. Right from the beginning, getting my house valued Purplebricks gave me Diane Armstrong to support me through the sale. Diane was professional and very knowledgeable her experience was an absolute benefit in getting my house sold pretty quickly, which was on the market for less than 3 months. It was a wonderful firs time experience organising a valuation online. It was easy, stress free and I could conduct the event, whilst my partner worked from home. I just explained to the agent the reasons he would be on mute for a short time, whilst going through rooms of my home. The agent was on time, explained everything, listened, gave good honest advice and was more than accommodating. This was less than intrusive, a game changer if the opportunity allows. I was give the freedom, to gage when I may sell along with details of the agent fees… Thanks Purple Bricks!

I wouldn't pay up front, even if cheaper than others ( I have now gone with other agent ) . Alan was not forthcoming in admitting that yes payment would be needed immediately if we did not use your solicitor. This should be transparent!! Alan was not a good fit with us generally.

Hands down the worst estate agent currently operating. Purplebricks have turned what should have been an exciting move into an utterly stressful, chaotic and infuriating experience. They do not stick to their word, do not call you back, and seem completely incapable of doing even the basics of their job, including responding when you are actively trying to accept an offer. Chasing them feels like a full-time job, except you don’t get paid and they do. The service is slow, lazy, disorganised and rude, with every failure brushed off using a new excuse. Accountability is non-existent. Communication is appalling. You are left wondering what exactly you’re paying for, because it certainly isn’t professionalism or support. To make matters worse, they push “recommended” solicitors who are just as painfully slow, all while quietly pocketing £575 in referral fees if you use them. A lovely little bonus for Purplebricks, and a nightmare for anyone actually trying to move house. If you value your time, your sanity, or your sale, avoid Purplebricks at all costs. There are plenty of estate agents out there, this is not one of the ones you should trust with one of the biggest decisions of your life.

Jeff was approachable and very pleasant in meeting my communication needs as a profoundly Deaf person from birth to lipread as he had clear speech and good lip patterns. He fully met the Equality Act 2010 and the Accessible Information Standards 2016 particularly when he mentioned the Purple Bricks app which will suit my future communication needs. Jeff is a credit to your company as he clearly has good deaf awareness.

PROS Very cost effective. Offers the option to be in direct contact with buyers to accept viewings and negotiate offers. Especially being able to do viewings yourself is great as you will know your property better than any estate agent. CONS If you're showing people around yourself, be aware that buyers are often more comfortable sharing honest feedback with a 3rd party ie an estate agent. Also the average person doesn't sell properties that often and if you DIY it you won't benefit from any of the experience an estate agent has, which makes you vulnerable to a variety of pitfalls. In a buoyant market advertising on Rightmove is surely enough, but in a difficult market you can really benefit from the extra legwork a good estate agent can put in trying to generate more viewings for your property with their emailing lists and trying to "upsell" buyers on extra viewings. There is also the issue that Purplebricks really do have long telephone queues at times, 15-20 minutes. WOULD I USE PURPLEBRICKS AGAIN? Yes, but only in a sellers market and because I now have experience selling a property and I've learned a lot. I wouldn't recommend choosing the DIY option if you're a first time seller, especially not in a buyers market.
