GoogleI am extremely happy with the service I received from Melvyn Danes throughout my property purchase journey. As a first-time buyer, the process felt overwhelming at times, but the team was always supportive, professional, and helpful.
I would especially like to thank Samantha for her patience, guidance, and assistance every step of the way. She was always available to answer my questions and made the whole experience much smoother and less stressful.
Thanks to the excellent support from Melvyn Danes, I am now the proud owner of my first property. I am truly grateful for all the help and dedication shown throughout the process.
I highly recommend Melvyn Danes to anyone looking to buy or sell a property. Their service has been outstanding from start to finish.
Sincerely,
Ruby

GoogleGreat communication from the start of putting our home on the market to finish completing sale. There is so much that goes on you don’t realise when selling your home until you do. Trust is one thing I would say you need.
Melvyn Danes took ownership of our needs and requirements. Weekly updates. I trusted Adam, Sam, Vanessa and team throughout the sale of our property. It’s your home they are selling and trusting the team to make your home someone else's. Melvyn Danes definitely fulfilled this.

GoogleFrom the start, with a realistic valuation, Danes have provided excellent service over an lengthy period of sale (not their fault!). Signage went up promptly, publicity was very well done and everything else was handled problem free. I would like to thank Samantha Anderson, in particular, for her sensible advice throughout.

GoogleWe engaged Melvyn Danes, Shirley to act on our behalf for the sale of our bungalow. Adam was without doubt approachable, showed empathy and always returned calls and answered queries that arose as it had been 40 years since we had been through a house sale. Guided us through different stages and we reached a sale. Would definitely recommend them, particularly when other agents appear to continually phone for business.

GoogleThe Sale for our late Mother’s bungalow was protracted for 6 months, with serious issues at the end of the 3 part chain.
This was in no way a reflection of the excellent service which we received from Melvyn Danes in Shirley. In particular, Sam Anderson kept us updated the whole way through & in our opinion , went above & beyond, which was in complete contrast to the conveyancing solicitor ( who only contacted us 2 days before completion).
I definitely would consider using Danes in the future, they gave a professional, comprehensive service, but more importantly, treated us with empathy & respect. Thank you all.

GoogleDanes have been a great Estate Agent to work with, right from making the first viewing appointment through to completion.
Samantha and Lucy were amazing during the whole process, showing empathy and professionalism alongside efficiency even when we hit a little bump in the road. We recommend them 100% Thank you both, Alan & Sharon (23 DR)

GoogleHaving a dedicated sales advisor helped tremendously. Samantha was easily contactable, and worked hard to facilitate the sale. Samantha acted with professionalism throughout the sale, diligently chasing all parties concerned to reach a successful conclusion

GoogleI used Melvyn Danes for the sale on my flat. They had a great level of local knowledge, they came out and valued the flat and negotiated a price I was happy with. I always found them polite and quick to respond to any queries I had. They had a really good relationship with the buyer which was important due to the time the sale took to complete. I no longer lived in the flat and they went out of their way to help me a couple of times which saved me a two hour round trip. Would highly recommend using them! Thanks to Adam, Sam, John and the team!

TrustpilotBeware for the Solihull office
Beware for the Solihull office. Seeing this office has done this to another reviewer, I found dealing with Matthew smith from this office, I believe him to lie, taunt, ridicule and belittle. This was after I made a formal complaint. When I asked to speak to someone else, I was to I can speak to the managing director, who would have his back. Indeed the MD did back him up and gave me recordings of our telephone conversations, which in my opinion were edited, to put them in a favourable light. Just get EVERYTHING in writing from them as this office and the MD seem to think it ok taunt people.

GoogleHeavily disappointed with their handling of my offer. I offered 315000 on a 325000 on Monday to be told they'll get back to me by Wednesday. Then followed up with getting back to me on Thursday. Only to be told on Friday that offer has been rejected. The deadlines set was set by themselves. I know this is a tactic to use your offer to gain a higher offer but would prefer transparentcy. Thankfully I did make a competing offer on another property.

Moving house is never stress free but it was made as easy as possible by Pat and the lovely team at Wythall. Great photo's that showed the house at is best, realistic market price, prompt and thorough communication, and a very helpful team who offered to go above and beyond when I had family sickness.
The icing on the cake was an offer on the same day it was put on the market. Can't get better than that

GoogleAn excellent service all round. I got so much more than I thought I was paying for, ie selling my house! They were efficient, organised and kept me informed of all developments.
Knowing the area as they do, the team were so helpful to me in the purchase of somewhere new to live, advising me on properties and locations which would suit me. I also thank them for their practical and emotional support as I said goodbye to my home of 54 years. (I shall always be grateful for the space I could go to throw a strop about the perceived inefficiencies of other parties involved! )

GoogleIf you want an estate agent that actually cares, go to Melvyn Danes. The team is so nice and they have a real 'family feel' to how they work. It was so refreshing to deal with people who are supportive and encouraging rather than just being robotic. They made the process of buying my home so much easier by allowing multiple visits and keeping in constant, quick contact. They really are a cut above the rest. I would highly recommend Melvyn Danes to everyone, I feel incredibly lucky to have dealt with them

TrustpilotI don’t usually leave negative reviews
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. Dealing with Pat Gilbert, (the manager of the firm) she was incredibly unpleasant, she was aggressive, rude, and completely lacking in people skills. From the start, she made the entire process stressful and uncomfortable. Rather than offering guidance or support, she was hostile, unapproachable, and frankly seemed like she had no interest in helping at all. It’s baffling how someone so unprofessional and unfit for customer-facing work is in a managerial position at an estate agency.
That said, Debbie and Larissa were a completely different experience, absolute stars. Both women were professional, warm, and incredibly reassuring throughout the entire process. They carried themselves with a calm confidence and genuine kindness that made a world of difference. When you’re making a big decision like buying a house, that’s exactly the energy you need and these two women delivered it flawlessly. They made me feel respected, heard, and supported every step of the way.
If anyone ever finds themselves dealing with this company, I highly recommend asking to work with Debbie or Larissa only. They are the saving grace of this firm and clearly take pride in their work, unlike Pat, who unfortunately gave the entire experience a sour edge.
As an owner of more than 1 property it is very important to know who you choose to sell your property as this can affect how quickly your house is sold. After speaking with 2 of the most pleasant women throughout the day then communicating with Pat I know I will not be using this specific firm to represent me nor any of my properties that I plan to sell in the near future acknowledging that communications may be had with this person and I may lose out on sales due to this persons “bad mood”.
This first is the wythall branch avoid at all costs

GoogleVery disappointing experience from start to finish.
We viewed a property marketed at £325,000 that required extensive renovation and was not in a condition to move into. We initially offered £300,000 and then increased our offer to £315,000 due to the property's potential.
After initially accepting another offer, the estate agent kept us on standby, specifically Lucy and Vanessa repeatedly saying they would have a better idea "next week". When that sale fell through, they came back to us and asked for our paperwork again.
We were then asked to spend £850 on a valuation to prove our funding. The valuation came back at £305,000 and we agreed to proceed at that price. Despite this, we were told another interested buyer had appeared and that the sellers wanted to see what happened.
Throughout the process we were repeatedly given dates when we would receive updates, only for those dates to come and go without any communication. My husband made four calls over five days chasing an update and none were returned. When I called from a different number, the office called back almost immediately, suggesting our calls were simply being ignored.
After months of being messed around, wasting our time, and spending £850 at their request, we decided to withdraw.
Poor communication, lack of transparency, and very little regard for prospective buyers. I would not recommend.

GoogleI would strongly advise everyone to avoid this dodgy letting agency. Danes failed to disclose a rat infestation in a property they rented to us.
You can clearly see the rat traps, droppings, wire wool in holes and rodent deterrent plugged into every room in the inventory. Due to Jennifer's incompetence we are stuck with a property we are unable to move into.
It's shocking to believe this micky mouse company believes it is acceptable for pre-school children to live in these conditions.

In response to your review, we must clarify that we would never let a property with a known pest issue. We also have no record of you as a tenant in any of our properties. If an issue with pests is reported to us during the course of a tenancy, then we would actively look to resolve this by corresponding with the landlord. If you would like to call 0121 733 7334 or email us at lettings@melvyndanes.co.uk and we will look in to locating your details.

GoogleWe recently sold our property through the Shirley office and received an excellent and professional service from start to finish. Our initial contact was with Adam Marshall and then mostly with Samantha Anderson. We were kept well informed regarding viewings and outcomes by a variety of staff, all who represented the agency in a friendly and professional manner. This was the 2nd time we have used Melvyn Danes and would not hesitate in using them again should the need arise.

TrustpilotViewing good. Office dealings not
Initial viewing of a property with Larrisa was great. Larrisa was friendly, personable and polite.
However, all changed when I had to deal with Pat, manager in head office. She dealt with taking offers. She was rude, curt and basically not a very nice personality. I will not deal with Danes again, and that is only because of this person. The star is for Larrisa

GoogleExcellent professional and extremely friendly and helpful service. Sam at Melvyn Danes in Shirley went over and above to help me with the sale of my house. On the odd occasion that Sam was out of the office and things needed to be dealt with urgently then all the other staff were amazingly helpful too. This is the second time I have dealt with Melvyn Danes in Shirley - the first time was when I bought my house - the second time (when I sold it) I chose Melvyn Danes in Shirley due to exceptional service and help when I bought the house. I would highly recommend them.

GoogleIt took us a while to sell a late family member's property due to market conditions, time of year, and a first sale fall through (buyers simply changed their minds a couple of weeks in - as can happen) but we made it in the end.
Our experience with Melvyn Danes has been excellent. Starting with an initial meeting, getting details published, organising viewings (all of these painless and no work for us) and constructive reassurances along the way from Sam, Lucy and Vanessa. Communication with the team was really good. Emails and phone calls at each stage, viewing etc etc. A friendly and personable and experienced team. We knew we were in good hands.
In particular, during the last couple of weeks we had some challenges in the chain and slow responses from solicitors etc etc. which made for a bit of a stressful time as we approached exchange.
Sam was our main contact in the last few weeks and we had several emails and phone calls and she was brilliant each time. She worked hard behind the scenes using her experience and contacts to try and move things along as quickly as possible and I suspect if it hadn’t been for her interventions, it would have taken a few more weeks to exchange/complete!
These days, people sometimes complain about “traditional” estate agents fees etc vs DIY or other cheaper online routes, but I have to say, we feel it was good value for us particularly given how Sam helped get us there over the last couple of weeks.
So in conclusion, a big thanks to the team and particularly Sam for a positive experience.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Melvyn Danes to others in future.
