This is a fairly broad review, covering a house sale and a separate house purchase some time later. I sold my house through halls quite a while back now. The whole team from start to finish were excellent. They kept solicitors (and buyers!) in check, whilst keeping us from falling apart when things inevitably get a little stressful. Jack was our main guy for the sale. He was our rock. Absolute legend. Just less than a year later we found ourselves buying our next place through halls as well. Once again they were simply fantastic. Really friendly to deal with, whilst also being the main drivers on all sides to keep things moving. Lily was our main point of contact. She was always available, and always incredibly helpful. It felt like working with friends. Couldn't ask for more. I really don't want to move house ever again, but if I did, I'd use Halls without a doubt. Thanks again everyone! Thom & Amy

Hall's were superb from start to finish when selling our house. Alex was fantastic, he has a wealth of knowledge about the industry and the local market. He always had time to talk to us and provide advice. He looked after us throughout and kept us well informed at every step along the way. Lilly was great too. Her communication was fantastic, she kept us updated as things progressed and sometimes took the time to make a call just to keep in touch. She was very professional and really helped to ensure the whole process ran smoothly by being the link between all parties involved, including solicitors, in a proactive and friendly way. I write this review whilst in the final stages of completion on our forever home being sold through Halls, From the start meeting Simon at the house and dealing with him in the early stages, he has been great, very helpful, knowledgeable and always there to answer questions and relay information between us and the sellers. Then the case got moved on to Lilly the Senior sales progressor, Lilly has been nothing short of amazing, the purchase has not been a very straight forward one, but she has been the link between us the buyers, the sellers, 2 solicitors and my financial manager, The service and commitment she has given us is 2nd to non, a massive asset to Halls, without her I think we would all of lost the will to carry on! We said we will never move again but if we did, we would not look anywhere else for an estate agent, Halls are the best in the business and their staff are amazing. Well done to all involved and thank you.

Not sure I would recommend this estate agent. We contacted them to tell them of a serious flood/drainage issue with one of the houses they are currently selling. But, no reply or even an acknowledgement.. There’s no point in burying your head in the sand and not addressing serious concerns, as they have a habit of causing more problems at a later stage in the sales process. I note there was a similar poor review previously.

From the word go we realised we were in good hands for the sale of our house. Nothing was too much trouble, including weekly inspections of the property by Alex and regular updates by Margaret and her team, and on completion Margaret kindly obtained final meter readings so that we didn't have to make a 300-mile round trip to Shrewsbury. We have no reservations about recommending Halls extremely highly for their friendly and professional approach to the whole sales process.

I have recently completed my flat sale in Shrewsbury through Halls and I couldn’t thank Alex more for his excellent work. I almost pulled out half way due to the appalling inefficiency of my solicitors. Mr Forber who attended and took the property details etc was professional, as were the office staff whenever I spoke to them. The brochure was very good and the property was marketed within the agreed timeframe, so overall I was pleased at that stage. However, in the course of the weeks that the property was with Halls (circa 26) I did not receive any feedback in respect of 3 of the viewings. Also regrettably, they could not accompany a viewing which I could not be at home for as the member of staff who attended properties with most of the potential buyers would have finished for the day. Although I appreciate that this was an unusual situation in terms of the time of the potential viewing (6pm on a Saturday) I was disappointed that they had no provision to cover this eventuality. Additionally, within the period my house was with Halls and without me receiving a credible offer, no-one from the office contacted me for my thoughts or to discuss any other possible options e.g. premium advertising. In summary, I didn't feel that they didn’t try hard enough to sell my house.

I couldn’t think of a worse estate agent to deal with. We had an offer accepted on a property on 9th May. One months later, we found out our solicitor couldn’t proceed with any searches because a big portion of the garden wasn’t owned by the seller, who had applied to the Land Registry to register the land. Halls were surprised and annoyed to find out about this, saying they were disappointed the sellers hasn’t mentioned this to them. One month later, still nothing had happened as we were all still sat waiting for a decision from the Land Registry. It was only at this point that we spoke directly to the seller, who explained that Halls had, in fact, known about this issue before the house was even listed - in fact, they’d valued that portion of land at the same time they valued the house itself. So they absolutely knew about this major issue and intentionally a) concealed it from us, and b) subsequently lied about it. They even put a red line photo on the listing that included the land that wasn’t legally included in the sale - which, FYI, is illegal. We’ve ended up negotiating the price down because this process has dragged out for months while we were kept in the dark by the estate agent and the seller’s solicitors. We’ve also ended up having to switch to doing the sales progression via solicitors because their sales progresser, Lilly, was so incompetent. She acted like we were being impatient or unreasonable for getting frustrated about a house (with no chain) taking months because of an issue we were never told about. When we threatened to pull our offer almost two months in, she literally ignored our calls and messages for weeks. Then when we tried to book viewings for other properties when we’d reached our limit, they refused to book any because they wanted to trap us into this purchase. I really hope, when this sale completes, the sellers don’t pay them any commission because Halls absolutely must have breached their contract with their client. We’ll certainly be reporting them to the Ombudsman when this is all over with the evidence we have of them intentionally misrepresenting a property and lying about it.

Halls spoilt the purchase of our dream home in the end! So much so my husband refused to collect the keys from the office. You will receive unnecessary phone calls only to receive another call 20 minutes later stating to ignore previous conversation. Be aware they like to have a ''frank and honest conversation with the buyers, the sellers will be pulling out today if they don’t get what they want it’s what we have advised them to do'' this was done to us on a Friday afternoon at 3pm!! Totally unprofessional. I will never recommend Halls in fact I will go out of my way to spread how bad they are to everyone I meet. Please avoid using halls

This is the second time Halls have organised a sale and purchase on my behalf and I found them to be efficient and expert, from the valuation by Alex to arranging of viewers by Margaret and the team in the office. We were in a chain of six with all the problems that produced, with buyers dropping out delayed surveys etc etc. all managed with kindly concern which alleviated the stress on my wife and myself, over a Six month time span leading up to Christmas !
