TrustpilotMARTIN AND CO MEDWAY
MARTIN AND CO MEDWAY, Rochester - my experience has been one of fraud, overcharged fees, ignoring emails, lack of professionalism, breaking contracts, wasting money and I could go on and on. Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction from this branch of Martin and co. I am a landlord of 20 years’ experience with great relationships with all my agents. This agency is BEYOND POOR.

TrustpilotNew Milton, Awful estate agents, left us homeless with no help
Disgusting estate agents didnt bother with us at all, I called and called to view a property as ours was only a short term let, they never bothered to tell us when the viewings were despite me calling several times and let the property go to someone else. There was nothing else available and because of this we ended up homeless while I was pregnant and with a 3 year old. Never use them!!

TrustpilotAnti social tenants welcome at Martin an co.
Martin and Co are responsible for the nightmare tenants next door. I have called them 9 times to report anti social behaviour as I cannot sleep until around 2 -3 am. This has ruined my mental health and ability to function at work. They care not about duty and responsibility. I wouldn't use them in any shape of form. No standards.

TrustpilotAs a landlady for over 20 years this is…
As a landlady for over 20 years this is comfortably my worst experience. The letting agent at the Leicester office was rude and patronising at times. Incorrect AML checks for which there was an expectation the landlord would cover the costs. Slow replies to email and requests often not actioned. Questionable GDPR compliance with attempted validation through loose loopholes. Overall a stressful experience which is concerning when you pay for a service to take away the stress!

TrustpilotSimply the Best
I have used Martin&Co to look after my properties for 13 years and wouldn't be without them. They are very professional and sort out any problems so I don't have to! Diana Gaglio is the person I have been dealing with lately for one property and she saved me £100 by finding a better deal for something, brilliant! I feel like she looks after me in fact all of Martin & Co look after me, that's how it feels. 🙂

GoogleHighly recommended! This was my first let and the Martins team in Pontefract made it stress free. Importantly, their communication is excellent - you always know what's happening and what you need to do etc. Carlsberg don't do estate agents but......
Update: Just sold my property through Martins......and my view remains unchanged! Fabulous team and service who make these stressful events less so. Recommendation stands!

Morrisons Village Square Runcorn has rapidly gone to the ruins, fridges are empty most of the time, limited stock on the shelves, there has been no sugar on the Costa Machine for 3 weeks now, I asked can you not use a bag of sugar for the coffee? The reply was, we are not allowed, i usually spend £30+ in there everyday before work only to find i need to go to another shop to get what Morrisons dont have in stock, its absolutely degrading by management from Morrisons to limit the stock availability, I must refrain from using that store again

TrustpilotMartin&Co Wokingham
My opinion is to STAY WELL CLEAR!!After being a tenant under Martin&Co Wokingham my personal advice to anyone would be that I would NOT recommend Martin&Co. In my personal experience and dealings with Martin&Co and their director I was left to feel as if I was a second-class citizen!! In my personal experience even going as far as stating that we had no rights. In my personal experience with Martin&Co and dealings with Erica and her team they persisted to in my opinion try to threaten and intimidate, again in my opinion and based off of my personal experience, I was left to feel they used underhand practices to get the outcome they desire.Personally, as a tenant who values my right to privacy, and right to quiet enjoyment as set out in tenancy agreements. I did not feel as if that was respected or acknowledged by Martin&Co Wokingham. In my experience they contacted me outside of working hours numerous times no matter how many times I requested them not to, I was left to feel harassed. In my experience numerous times Erica phoned/emailed myself when she wanted to, personally I don't want to take calls as late as 8:30pm regarding such matters however I had no choice with Erica. In my personal experience they even went as far as turning up to the home without notice!!In my personal experience our deposit was not kept in a safe manner and in my opinion was not dealt with professionally and fairly at the end of the tenancy. After numerous requests surrounding our deposit, I'm left to personally feel it is not something Erica and her team at Martin&Co sadly seem to believe in. In my experience our deposit was threatened several times and again in my opinion used as leverage whilst they continued to withhold up to date prescribed information that they were required to provide us with during our tenancy. In my experience they did not deal with our deposit requests and took the complete allowed time to reply to any requests made from the governing body. They made numerous claims which would seemingly double the following day, I was left to feel as if these were fictitious claims. For us personally it took 4 months to reclaim the deposit when the governing body dismissed many of said claims. In my opinion I would hope and expect a company like Martin&Co to deal with this in a more professional and timely manner. My advice based on my experience is if you're a landlord that wants to know their property is in the safe hands of professionals, I would highly advise staying clear!! During my dealings with Erica and her team they weren't the best with paperwork and made numerous errors in the actual paperwork they did prescribe!! In my personal experience they left confidential paperwork with high value in an unsecured environment and the team could not even find it at one point. In my experience during this time a staff member was in my opinion incredibly rude to us, even though they could not find our confidential paperwork through their own errors. In my opinion and experience Martin&Co they struggled to acknowledge most of tenancy law, except that which benefited their own motives. In my experience they took no accountability of their numerous errors and tried to claim the incurred costs of their what I deem as amateur mistakes out of our deposit. In my opinion these mistakes came down to a lack of knowledge within the team and leadership, in my opinion this isn't the behaviour of an honest upfront company, and they should rather deal with their mistakes in a more professional manner.

TrustpilotGina Rude and Unprofessional!!
We viewed a property in channel view and clearly this is the worst and most unprofessional agents in the world! The lady Gina was so rude and unprofessional she struggled to even greet us when we arrived the property turned her back on us walked off.We really liked the property and made an offer of £1625 which its clear to see that the agent didn’t know or couldn’t be bothered to present our offer to the landlord and provided no feedback whatsoever regarding why another offer had been accepted. If your a landlord or tenant Avoid this agent at all costs.Im glad we didn’t get the place now knowing what kind of Rude and unprofessional agency would be managing my tenancy!!Disgusting service!

TrustpilotA disgusting way to treat a new mum!
My daughter gave birth to twins in February and I think the stress she has been put under due to incompetence of Martin & Co St Annes is disgusting. In short, she has been reporting damaged pipes at her rented property which is managed by Martin & Co which cause her garden to flood on a daily basis since the start of January. We have lost count of the amount of times we had follow up this repair to no avail. On Saturday the whole drain fell from the wall leaving a gaping hole and no way of drawing her bath, sink, washing machine. Her neighbour is understandably concerned about the water seeping in to his garden, which is loading more stress on to her and still no sign of a repair man. I am absolutely astounded and furious that my daughter has been caused so much unnecessary trauma at an already stressful time in her life and let’s not think what could have happened if my grandsons were outside in their pram when the whole cast iron pipe fell. The staff at this branch have no taken any responsibility, Jack, Caitlin and Jenna have all dealt with my daughter regarding this issue and not one person has taken the initiative or the responsibility to sort this for her.

If I could give a minus star I would. There is a property with their board outside. I t is not listed on their website. I have enquired 3 times to find out the cost of the property and I have received no response. Very unprofessional. You'd have thought with the market slowing down that they would be keen to engage in conversation. I've never used them in the past and I never will in the future.

TrustpilotThird time lucky
We have been trying to sell our house through the Westbury branch of Martin & Co since February 2022, but unfortunately have had 2 sales fall through days before exchanging contracts. We have this week just accepted another offer and are proceeding with the sale which we hope this time will reach completion. During this time we have been very pleased with the service provided by Martin & Co, and despite our disappointments when sales have fallen through at the last minute they have always promoted our property well and priced it realistically in order to achieve a sale. We have also used Martin & Co when viewing properties to buy, and have always found their staff helpful when booking viewings and being shown properties. One particular member of their staff, Kerri Gunning, stands out as being especially worthy of credit as she has shown countless perspective buyers around our property during the last 12 months, and we have also viewed many different properties with Kerri resulting in an offer being accepted on a new build property that we liked. Kerri was a fairly new employee to Martin & Co when we first put our house on the market, and over that time we have seen her develop into a confident and no doubt highly valued member of their team. She has always shown an open and friendly approach to her job and her personality has proved an asset when ever we have met her.Jim and Annette Wilson both wish her well in the future.

I went to a house viewing in Haslington and the agent was very poor he wasn’t friendly or welcoming and hardly spoke to my self, when my partner inquired about a property he was just getting ignored even though we were very interested in the property and the company still hasn’t got back to us about it.

GoogleReally wouldn’t recommend. I contacted them to inform them of my interest in a property which had only just been put up. When I rang them I was told to call back on the Monday, days later on Monday I called and was then told I would receive a call back later on with information regarding viewing availability and an application. Never received a single call. I then sent an email and called again and was purposefully ignored. I went to call again the next day but when I looked online they’d removed the property. Zero communication and a really unprofessional company.

Hi Ella
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m sorry that your experience has been disappointing and that you missed out on the flat.
Looking at the notes on your contact record, we did leave a voicemail for you but the flat you enquired about went under application later that day.
We did receive a lot of enquiries about that property and can only take one application forward.
We do try to ensure all applicants are contacted promptly, whether by email or phone, and will, of course review our procedures to ensure that your experience isn’t repeated by other applicants.
I wish you well in your property search.

TrustpilotAVOID AVOID AVOID... Saltaire Branch
AVOID AVOID AVOID.... Rented 4 Bedroom property Lightcliffe Halifax via Saltaire Branch. If I could give zero stars I would! Having worked most of my life in Management Customer Services I expect to receive a high standard like the one I provide. Customer services from Martin & Co in Saltaire have been appalling, to say the least! And having read these reviews I cannot understand how they are still in business. My initial contact (prior to signing the agreement) was very good. Found the property I wanted to rent, having never rented before. There were issues with the property - security gates didn't work correctly and therefore provided no security, garage door not working correctly, rubbish bags laying around in the grounds etc. I did make it very clear before signing the contract that I wanted all these issues addressed and I was told they would be. Once the contract was signed everything changed. I was told I didn't ask for it to be made into a stipulation on signing (how would I know to do this when I have never rented before). Within two weeks of moving in, I had a leak under the kitchen sink, followed by the washing machine didn't work. With regards to the washing machine I was accused of damaging it however when the repair man attended he found coins, hair bands, and stones in the filter from the previous owner. keys went missing from the property when I was out like someone had been in there without me present (all denied). And no keys were supplied for the juliet balcony. Then the dishwasher stopped working and the landlord wanted me to contribute 50% towards a replacement machine that was 7 years old. I refused. The person that I was then dealing with Ian Tate supported the landlord and accused me of not looking after the property (even though I have owned my own house for 30 years prior to this). The landlord requested a property inspection 3 weeks post moving in as they were concerned about 'their property' even though this was denied. I was outraged. Small problems and issues kept arising which the landlord refused to address even though they were listed in the Inventory (which I received 3 months after signing the contract). Every time there was an issue Ian supported the landlord and spoke to me like I was irrelevant. Found him to be extremely patronising and arrogant. I eventually asked to deal with the branch manager Denise who I found more supportive and actually tried to resolve issues with the landlord, albeit not successfully every time. The landlord just would not address issues with the property - unfortunately I had paid 6 months rent upfront to secure the property so it felt like because she had the money she was refusing to maintain the property. I handed my notice in to end the contract at 6 months as I was not prepared to stay in a property where I was accused that I wasn't looking after it, and not having any support from my letting manager Ian. I moved out and the keys were handed back and it took over 5 weeks to receive the deposit of £1846 back!! I did all the chasing for this. The landlord was literally retaining hold of my money and the letting agent could do nothing about it! then after 4 weeks I was informed by Denise that Ian had also cocked up and not issued me with the procedures for claiming back my deposit... again extremely poor customer services from Ian! I am absolutely appalled at the service I received and will never use this company as long as I live! Does not surprise me to notice they are not regulated or authorised by the relevant authorities so you have absolutely no come back from anywhere!

TrustpilotUninterested in the Tenant - Landlords allowed to neglect property
We rented a property from Martin and Co in Prestwich. They never ever confronted the owner of the state of the property. Our property in Pine Avenue Whitefield was in a state of disrepair and even though problems were reported, they were never fixed. They let the owner wait 5 months until we left to action any repairs. The owner was allowed to neglect the property and allow the outside of the house to fall apart literally.Martin and Co were "afraid" to confront the owner instead raising issues when we left the property.Gates and fences were covered in nails and shoddy repair. The owner allowed herself to continually come check on the property, without notifying us, and would "knock on" to check the state of the house herself.

TrustpilotThe worst estate agent ever, avoid at all costs even if you really like the property!!
Where to start...Martin & Co London Bridge were impossible to deal with during our 1.5 year tenancy, I really don't know how they are a company as they are so hopeless and completely dysfunctional. I understand this branch is now longer part of Martin & Co and is now trading as DA Property, perhaps partly due to the issues we experienced. We had numerous issues when we moved in: a toilet that wouldn't flush properly, a shower that couldn't change temperature, a leaking kitchen sink etc. It took a lot of chasing and two months for all issues to be fixed. The boiler then broke down and we spent 3 weeks in February with no heating or hot water and again it took a lot of chasing on our part for anything to be done. We also had a broken oven for a month at one point. Whenever we had problems, we would call the office and be directed to a central call centre who assured us that our issue had been marked as urgent and someone from the internal maintenance team would call us back, but that never happened once. We also had the mobile number of the Director of the London Bridge office, but he would ignore phone calls, WhatsApps and emails. I also tried to visit their office in person on several occasions, but never found anyone present. And after everything, they took a cleaning and maintenance charge from our deposit. It was truly excruciating trying to get anything done and we're glad we will never have to deal with Martin & Co / DA Property again. Avoid at all costs, even if you really like the property!
