David James letting me helped my husband and I rent a property for the first time in the UK and it was a seamless process. My letting agent Grace was so wonderful and professional. They gave me some branded key chains when I picked up the keys to the property and I think it’s lovely. Nigel should get a pay raise 🙌. He came to inspect our property today and was so friendly and helpful. Before stepping into the house, without being told, he voluntarily wore a shoe cover to protect the carpet from dirt/stains. Also, I never figured out how to get our kitchen extractor fan to work. Infact, an electrician had been sent over to have a look but couldn't figure it out either. When Nigel came today, just with one maneuvre and he got the extractor fan working. Many thanks Nigel. Generally speaking, my experience with David James Lettings has been nothing short of blissful. Keep up the good work!

I am giving David James 2 stars rather than 1 only because the agents I encountered when viewing properties were lovely; I felt that they were interested in me as a buyer, knew the properties that they were showing, and helped me to find a property I loved. Thank you Claire and Nick. Unfortunately, my experience as a buyer with the sales team past that point was awful. My experience is as a buyer, but I would not recommend selling your property with David James. Whilst viewing properties and being encouraged to put in an offer, I was inundated with calls on a daily basis. I was encouraged to review properties I had seen, reminded to view properties again, and chased about my interest in my final property. When I did make an offer, I received about 10 calls and emails in one day. After my offer was accepted and I was moved to the 'sales negotiation' team, the communication disappeared. If it weren't for my fantastic solicitors, I would have had no idea a property negotiation was taking place. Despite multiple attempts to contact David James and my 'assigned' sales negotiation rep across a period of 5 months, my emails and calls were never answered. I had no concept of what exactly David James was doing during this time. Despite them making a good commission off the sale of this property, I do not have any real idea of what exactly they have done to earn this - as far as I am aware, all negotiations took place entirely between my solicitor and the vendor's, with the estate agent happily sitting idle. Only at the point of sheer frustration, 4 months later, when I threatened to pull out of the sale, did I finally receive a reply from my 'sales negotiator' - letting me know that 'everything was moving smoothly', and that she would chase my other queries from months previous. So if you are planning to sell through David James, please be aware that from my experience they may not be doing much to earn your money.

Incompetent - avoid this agency.

Incompetent. No communication unless pushed. Have made many mistakes, but rather than honestly admitting them and taking action to correct, they double down and stop communicating or resort to untruths. Makes you wonder if the directors are unaware of what is going on, or are complicit in the incompetence to get fees for work not done or done badly. I would never recommend them after experiencing such poor service.

Nick greeted us warmly at the property. He showed us round and he was very informative and helpful by pointing out a few things that we wouldn’t have noticed. Both myself and my mum liked the property very much. We had a couple of properties to look at today but we were comparing them with Plains Farm close. We’ve contacted the office and put an offer in for the asking price. We sincerely hope we get the property. We are cash buyers and our properties have both sold. Managed my property rental for 3 years

Managed my property rental for 3 years. What a waste of money! Paid through the nose for their assoicated contractors to fix issues as soon as the tenants raised them, however the work was often incredible poor and not checked on completion. Inspections failed to pick up major issues so we were forced to investigate on numerous occasions ourselves and find our own tradesman to prevent being ripped off further! Honestly will never rent again(despite fantastic tenants), company contract was a utter waste of money.

Having previously being impressed when both buying and selling through David James, I recently instructed them for two other services. The first was the let of my existing property after my tenant decided to leave. From the initial enquiry I had confidence I was dealing with a professional company who would get the job done. Grace, Nicole and Kate made the process very straightforward with fantastic communication. I had a new tenant move into the property in less than 2 weeks. Following this I moved the management of another rental property over to them due to being unhappy with my current letting agent’s performance. Steven made things very easy with his professional and tenacious attitude, especially when dealing with my somewhat tricky tenant. Any issues that was raised Nigel made a note as well as photo evidence to share with the Office staff to try and resolve the problems,even if they don't get resolved you feel a little better in yourself being able to off load your issues. I would highly recommend David James Estate (Mapperley). From start to finish, all the staff was helpful from setting up the viewing all the way to signing the contract and moving in. Special mention to Grace for showing me the flat and arranging the contracts. During the tenancy period, they also have the great man Nigel come around to do inspections and take photos of the flat. I really loved this as it gave me an idea of how I was managing the flat and the health and safety part of the inspection made me feel safe as I wouldn’t be checking all my gas appliances, fire alarm and carbon monoxide alarm as often

I would recommend David James to anyone! Mum was selling the family home of fifty years, a house full of memories, so quite difficult to leave. Jason Ward did the valuation and was very friendly, professional and respectful towards Mum. The valuation was accurate and we were shown the reasoning behind the number. Once the house got on the market we had lots of viewings and we accepted an offer within weeks. Vicky Ingram, was brilliant and really went the extra mile in making sure it was as painless a process as possible for my Mum. Vicky encouraged slow solicitors, soothed nervous buyers, calmed me, and generally smoothed the path towards a successful sale. Importantly, we could always get in contact with Vicky when needed! The service from David James was first rate from start to finish. We had very detailed advice and guidance when deciding to list the property which instilled confidence, and the photography and resultant sales details were very professional. Our actual sale spanned two very different periods for the property market and we had the disappointment of a collapsed chain. During both sale processes we received exemplary guidance from Vicky Ingram, who at all times worked in our interests to secure the best deal and achieve a sale. Vicky counselled us through the crazy times of the peak market, and then after the market dropped off and we needed to re-market, she was able to help us with her experience, knowledge, and perhaps most importantly, a good sense of humour when things were getting a bit tense. It wasn’t an easy sale, but Vicky was the “spider in the web” pulling everything together all of the way through and making sure we got the sale done and at a fair price. We have no hesitation in recommending the team at David James, and in particular Vicky as Sales Negotiator.

After a year of looking to move and at various properties and contacting various agents, it was honestly a breath of fresh air to come across David James Estate Agent. Their lettings negotiator Grace made the process so simple and she couldnt of been more friendlier or helpful. From the viewing, to the application process, to the moving in, it was all so efficient and easy to do. It wasn't such a simple move either as we were moving from Bournemouth to Nottigham (doing it ourselves!) which was one big stress in itself, but Grace was accommodating with the viewing availability and on move in day, she made sure the keys and paperwork were all ready to collect in the office. Which after over a 3hour drive with 2 kids in toe was really appreciated. As mentioned above the application was so simple to do. It was all done via emails and online forms and unlike some estate agents we've had experience with, they weren't really intrusive into personal details. Any questions we had were answered almost instantly and nothing ever seemed like too much trouble. So a massive 'Thank You" to Grace for making our big move a lot less stressful!
