Worst agency ever, money grabbing and unresponsive

William H brown branch in Norwich near tombland is honestly the worst agency I’ve ever had to work with. A student house of 4 in the worst condition ( mould, damp, wooden structure coming apart etc ). Ended up paying around 500 pounds in agency fees around 125 each approximately. Only to have a lack of responsive replies. Keen to get your money and deposit in but don’t want to give it back ! They lie! I wasn’t informed about some of the agency fees and when addressed they told me they gave me a leaflet when I signed my contract, when I hadn’t even signed yet! I actually understand law and was told by the agency that there isn’t a time frame for them to give me back my deposit when infact it’s 30 days after your lease is up. When I threaten to dispute and go down the legal proceedings as I actually knew I had a case and kept everything in writing suddenly things were getting done. We was also told our house had a living room but couldn’t enter because they didn’t have keys and the bathroom would be redone before we move in. It didn’t have a living room but an extended bedroom so no communal area and our bathroom wasn’t renovated until we moved out !! Shocking service and they honestly couldn’t care about you in anyway. Several times I had to call them up about inventory checks , mould , repairs etc only to be messed around for months some of which still hasn’t been addressed but we’d be disturbed with house viewing about 3 times a week the whole 12 month contract.Worst experience I’ve ever had and spoken to others who experienced the same, it’s been 2 months since moving out ( we left the house early because it was so depressing ) and only today was I contacted about my deposit. If you’re a student please don’t use this place, we will be contacting uea to get them blacklisted from the housing listings.

William H Brown Estate Agents

William H Brown Estate Agents, a place that that lies at your face.... In my case, stating that there is a phone line in the building you are about to rent and when you move in you discover that there are no phone cables at al............. you make your own conclusions.A place that leaves you with a blocked fire exit for over a month. Maybeeeee they will fix it after the visit of a Fire Officer....A place that recommends you to leave your rubbish rotten in a room in the building corridors for over a week, and that charges you if having some not "domestic" rubbish.....It is not my case, but there are comments in the Sequence UK Facebook page about problems in getting the deposit back. More than one. I hope it won't be my case....

Brilliant Staff, Brilliant Company

As a prospective tenant I have been taken aback at the exceptional level of service I have received, the staff are fantastic and able to take on any challenge with a smile, true credit to the company, will definitely strongly recommend based on my experience.

This has been severely delayed by illness but has to be said

This has been severely delayed (by a year) but still needs to be said.I would like to congratulate you on the more than excellent service we have received from all of the team at the Kelvedon branch of William H Brown, none more so than the Manager, Spencer Barlett. We were going to use an online estate agent and save a considerable amount until Spencer came round to see us. He convinced us that his service was a better way forward and thankfully in retrospect we agreed albeit doubting that the much higher cost was worth it.We had solar panels on our roof under a rent a roof scheme and this proved to be a very difficult obstacle to overcome. Spencer has taken all of the multiple curved balls these have thrown with utter professionalism. He has remained honest with us at all times and offer a solution for us to agree to. I do not feel that he would have spent more time with a client had their house been four times the value of ours. All of his team have also given an excellent service to us along with the same welcoming greeting to phone calls or office visits and we have never been made to feel either like an unwelcome interruption or worse a money machine.

Recently bought a house through William H Brown had a really nice case handler called Neel Rawal. He was professional, efficient, kept me up to date with everything. Im very happy with my purchase he was with me through the viewing of the property right up until the end and handed me the keys and wished me well :) wishing him all the best at William H Brown, he has a good future ahead of him.

Customer Service is non existent.

Customer Service is non existent.Norfolk branch I handed my keys to Landlady on day of Inventory... Phoned one week later to enquire about my deposit.Oh we weren't told you'd left!!!Where did they think I'd been living in the mean time?Nearly three years of asking about getting an outside light fixed as pitch black. They didn't even bother to tell me I had my own off-road parking space. Total lack if customer satisfaction when don't call or email you when they say they will whereas you're out of pocket waiting for them to pull their fingers out. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

arranged to meet someone from William H…

arranged to meet someone from William H Brown to view a property. The experience has put me off and i feel sorry for the seller because they are not doing their best for that customer. The man who met us didn't even introduce himself. He just unlocked the door and we went in. He knew absolutely nothing about the property when we asked him questions and didn't know which garage belonged to the property. My husband and i agreed that his whole demeanor was like he couldn't be bothered and didn't want to be there. No one has bothered phoning us to ask how the viewing went either. Very poor.

WARNING ⚠️ DO NOT USE We placed our house on the market with these in 2017 we didn’t have one viewer and they were not interested in selling our house. We unwittingly signed a sole agent contract and didn’t know anything about it after being pressured into signing. When we told them we didn’t want them to market our house anymore they sent us letters from Connell solicitors demanding we paid them over £2000. Now 18 months after they are still demanding £2000 for something they never did.

Don’t do it!

Don’t do it! One of the worst agents I have ever used! They charge high commission and tie you in for 5 months! But fail to mention that at sign up. One member of staff was very rude in her manner. They don’t ring you to keep you updated, most other agents ring you weekly with an update, not them. I didn’t hear for 3 weeks and I had to constantly ring them. They have staff with little experience in selling houses. My advice go with someone else!

Disgusting con artists!!

Disgusting con artists!!! Constantly harassing you to use their very expensive mortgage advisors and if you dont use theirs you ARE NOT even getting a look in. We turned them down 6 or 7 times and everytime we phoned up to arrange a viewing or with any queries we had been "archived" so nobody could find us even though we are still actively looking for a house. We had no contact no property alerts we have been waiting 3 weeks for someone to respond to us after we asked for a viewing numerous times, the one property we did actually get to view through them we arrived at the property and they did not even know we were coming. They tell you everything you wantvtonhear and then tell the sellers completeley different things to make them sell to the ones who have used their expensive mortgage advisor.Very un professional!!!!! DO NOT USE even if u like the house just look elsewhere.

UNPROFESSIONAL

They advertised a house for rent on the Second Week of May and they made us want to pay extra charges and insurances. Basically they wanted to charge us for everything. (I think if they could charge us of breathing they would) So UNPROFESSIONAL and every single time you ask them about your tenancy agreement and any updates they will answer you. “I WILL GET BACK WITH YOU LATER” “I’M CALLING THE LANDLORD.” such a waste of time, money, and energy.

Awful Lettings company with no customer service skills

Took me 4 phone calls to arrange a check out when I left a property and then I was told that a quick email to sequence and I would get our deposit back. Totally misleading as there is an entire process to go through. This agency has no care for their tenants - you are Purely a number. They are flippant on the phone and do not pass on messages. I took keys back and passed on the burglar alarm code. The next day I get a call asking what the code is as the check out guy has set it off!! Hopeless - avoid if possible

Dishonest, arrogant, rude and unprofessional!!

Dishonest, arrogant and rude. Do not attempt to sell via the Welwyn Garden City branch. They will waste 6 weeks of your time with your house removed from the market for a buyer that hadn’t even provided sufficient I.D!! (Something I would have expected to have been done before the gentleman in question was allowed to place offers and demand the house was removed from the market and further viewings cancelled) -which I did in good faith.Grant the manager at WGC takes on average 4 days to respond to emails when asking for simple updates. He fobbed me off with ‘the buyers solicitors are waiting for draft contracts’ when in fact my solicitor hadn’t received anything from either WHB or the buyers solicitors. How can a solicitor draft a contract without even a name? So this was a lie to keep me quiet for a few more days! Viewings always shoddy... Lights left on, sofa sat on, my fridge/freezer had even been turned off and started to defrost by the time I’d got home. Not the service I expect when paying over 3grand in fees. The disappointing part is Grant knew how disappointed I had been with my previous agent, he promised I’d receive a better service from himself and his team at WHB.I now need to add that Grant (branch manager) instead of acting professionally and apologising, is instead going around town bad mouthing me and asking people who know me on a personal level to have me take down this review. I find this highly insulting, unprofessional and inappropriate. As a manager he should be aware this against any code of conduct and client confidentiality.Head office are now aware of this poor management and disappointing practise.

Lazy and not worth the time

We set up the sale of our house with these guys, all seemed well not pushy or overbearing with sales tactics. Been on the market for 3-4 weeks, no viewings at all. No contact from them either and not even a sign up. Sold our house through our original agent and when we called to let whb know, they had no idea who was looking after our sale and took it off the market before the question was even out of our mouths. If you cant be bothered to sell a house, don't bother wasting everyone's time

Set up to part you from your money even if they don't get all of it.

I entirely regret letting this company anywhere near our house that we wanted to sell.Firstly, houses falling through before contracts are being exchanged currently runs at about 33%. There are companies that thoroughly check out potential buyers before landing the customer in financial trouble; which can cut this rate in half. In our experience, WH Brown did none of this. A couple came forward & the sale started to progress. Only when we were a few weeks from completion did we find out that this couple couldn't even raise a mortgage which caused everything to collapse. Of course, your solicitors that you instruct are not going to waive their charges. We ended up over £2000 pounds out of pocket with nothing to show for it. This, of course, includes arty farty photo's that WH Brown actually charge you for. When I went into their offices & asked to use their toilet (when the sale was proceeding) there were instructions on how to work the customer & hence relieve them of their hard earned cash over the toilet. It stinks (no pun intended) to high heaven, which on a spiritual note I would say that these big wigs that run this company have also wavered their route to.Lastly, don't expect them to find you a mortgage offer without charging you hundreds of pounds. And yes there is also an admin fee involved along the line. One more thing if a company can't even come on here & defend themselves & the way they act, what does that tell you?

Unprofessional

Very poor customer service virtually no communicate while purchasing a house through the Norwich Branch.Constantly had to call as they didn't seem professional enough to understand the procedures and were not interested in communicating .Ended up with only one key and when questioned why the house had just had a brand new door fitted and they only supplied one key got some lame excuse from the teenager in the office saying that that was all they had to supply legally.(Very Helpful !)Called and spoke to the manager and to date NO More Keys and couldn't even be bothered to call me back.Probably didn't even chase it up.Defiantly would never use them for selling .Changed the lock easyier than wasting time and energy dealing with WH Brown.AVOID..

Had a really unprofessional experience with letting agent Brian. He didn't show up to the first house we were viewing then was late for the second house. The tenants were not expecting us making it really awkward for us to view the place. He then took a long phonecall to sort out the tenants issues whilst one of them showed us around (as well as letting us know a number of issues they've had with these agents). Afterwards, he demanded we put 5 star reviews for him despite being late and not showing us around. Very disappointed with the service provided, will not be using William H Brown and will.be letting others know of this.

WHB dealt with both the sale of our property, and the purchase of our new place. All round great service. If I was leaving this review specifically for Dan in after sales, it would easily be 5stars, he was excellent throughout, always took our calls, dealt with us in our more stressful moments, and got the job done! Keep up the good work!

I’ve constantly had to chase the estate…

I’ve constantly had to chase the estate agents to do anything. I couldn’t move into my property because they photocopied the wrong side of my driving license, didn’t notice this until 3 days before and when I tried to call the agent I was working with hand gone on annual leave. Despite going to another branch (I’m 160 miles from where I am moving to) and then photocopying it, they forgot to send it on.I’ve rented and bought properties before and never worked with such an inept load of estate agents.
