We have had a very positive experience working with Pattinsons for the auction of a property owned by a family member we have sadly lost. They have been very supportive and helpful throughout, offering great advice yet so understanding and patient in difficult circumstances. Caitlin in the Pattinsons auction department has been amazing and is a real asset to the company, guiding us step by step through it all. I would highly recommend Pattinsons to anyone thinking of selling a property by auction.

I can’t recommend pattinson estate agents enough, from the first gentleman that showed us round for our viewing to every person we’ve dealt with they have been amazing. Selling by auction was an excellent choice for us

We would like to thank everyone at Pattinson's, especially Caitlin and Michael, for their friendly and professional service during the recent sale of our holiday cottage. We were looking for a reasonably quick "hassle free" sale but did not want to compromise on the price. We were advised "secure sale" by auction would be the best option for us, and although we were initially wary due to unfamiliarity with the process, we decided to give it a go. The whole process, from our first contact with Pattinson's to exchange of contracts, took no more than 5 weeks. Everything happened very quickly on the auction day and the bids rapidly increased from a relatively low starting point, finally comfortably exceeding our expectations before the hammer fell. And at that point, contacts are exchanged and the sale is legally binding for both parties, so there is no worry about the buyer pulling out. We would certainly use this method of sale again, and would trust Pattinson's to manage it.

Houghton branch- would recommend!

We’ve just sold our home through Pattinson Houghton and we couldn’t fault them at all. We had multiple viewings straight away and sold the property for higher than asking price. We spoke to various members of the team through the sale but special mention to Dan who came to value the property and and got the sale live, Carole who we sold the property through within a week and Lauren who has kept us updated throughout the process. A Positive House Moving Experience

I have had a very positive experience with Pattinsons. I rang on a Saturday morning for an appointment and Daniel arrived on Monday at 1pm. By Tuesday my house was marketed with excellent photographs and a steady stream of viewings. Within little more than a week it had been sold. I found Daniel and the staff professional, helpful and knowledgeable. I also found Lucy Briscoe at Core Legal very efficient. I’ve had a positive outcome as my house has completed within 8 weeks. I would recommend Pattinsons and would certainly use them again in the future should I require another move.

Not interested unless you're selling soon

Contact was great at the start but that's all I can say. Incredibly poor communication between their own staff and the people who have been in touch have essentially ghosted me, they're not interested because I'm not selling soon despite being told someone would call me back/send the free valuation I requested. When chased, I got an incredibly short message from a Miss Pattinson (I really hope not related to owners) to say she was out of office, essentially not wanting anything to do with it. Outstanding service and experience with another competitor though.

Booked viewing appointments through Linda in the Blyth branch. All went to plan, the ones Linda conducted went smoothly and the ones with homeowners were great too. I visited one property on 11th Oct; had a second viewing on 13th Oct; offered on it 14th Oct and sale was agreed quickly. Linda is friendly, helpful, efficient and professional - a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell a property!

Dreadful experience with this company. Be very careful before you sign any kind of contract with them. I have, in effect, just had to pay them £10,000 for their minimal input in failing to secure a sale of my late father's property. Legally within their rights, but ethically and morally bankrupt.

We sold a property and used their recommended solicitors... A big mistake. In the main Pattinson people are helpful... but why would they recommend Bridge view law who were the worst solicitors we have ever dealt with.?... Interestingly a look at Trust pilot would definitely make you NOT use Pattinson recommended lawyers.. so think carefully before you are persuaded by Pattinson to do this.... They told me they are very used to auctions and as such very professional... NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. The auction experience was not great... On balance I would not recommend it. Use your own solicitor and sell by a high street agency.

My experience as a buyer through Pattinsons has been very poor. After showing an interest in bidding on an auction property I was relentlessly phoned, texted and emailed every day, and sometimes multiple times per day. This was despite explaining to each caller that I have a solicitor who is advising me, and that, all being well with the property, I will bid before the end of the auction. Eventually, I had to be very stern and respond not to contact me again or I will not bid. Although the staff calling were friendly and polite it was too much hard sell, and too intrusive when I was trying to do other things and expecting other calls. This wasn't just a problem with Pattinsons Hexham. I'd also viewed two properties on the coast through a different office, and was constantly called by them too, even after I repeatedly said I'd purchased a property in Hexham! Although I did buy the property, I felt the auction fees were too expensive for a low priced property, and I had to reduce my bid to accommodate it. It would be better to have a percentage system. I was also forced to pay for the searches by the vendor's solicitor, which were not complete and my own solicitor had to do the work as well. The vendor's solicitor then also tried to make me pay £500 towards the vendor's legal costs, as well as my own, which my solicitor took up with Pattinsons auction house as there was no mention of this in the auction pack. Four weeks after getting the keys to the property, the Pattinsons sold board has not yet been removed. My experience with Pattinsons hasn't been good, and I consider the company to have 'fly by night' practices. For improvement: 1. Only make contact in response to the buyer's calls or if new, important information arises about the property. 2. Make sure the legal pack contains all of the information needed. 3. Don't expect the buyer to pay any of the vendor's legal fees. 4. Change the auction fees to a percentage system rather than a minimum charge. 5. Arranged to have the for sale/sold board carefully removed on the day the auction closes. Following my experience, I won't use Pattinsons again or recommend to anyone else.

Pattinson I have found as a buyer to be an unusually caring family team style business. And calling by at their office and meeting the team and eg Nick who certainly was based here in 2024 it was very cheering for my house hunt. In fact it probably was seminal / really key to my buying a very good buy by their Pattinson's excellent online traditional auction terms, 'when the gavel drops' type way but without the pressures and fears of an auction room, house sales, when I called in to their Hexham office and talked through what I was looking for with Nick. A couple of caring lady staff are or were also in the office team when I called in of the day. Pattinson I have found to be keeping up a top of the estate agencies' order of quality of phone answering staff too in dealing with potential buyers. Nick also gave me an excellent viewing of one of the properties on their books at Haltwhistle at the time . Seeing how he could fit me in for a viewing end of a day. Sadly it is far too rare that estate agents staff as Nick very much did so, seem to enjoy their work in a caring way for those if us who find it very hard indeed to find slots of tine to view with agents 9 to 5 and availability levels these years . .That's how it is but it's not we buyers fault and getting upset with us because we can't make the rare slots they can offer us . And we have a fairly important matter to hand !: this will be our very life corner place in finding any good enough and good house home . So unlike sadly a lot of what the reality is if seeking a house home now 2025 2026... Nick gave me a kind non rushed amicable good kind friendly concerned caring time. The house in question was but the job for me , but it sold bit long after as one would think with a salesmen such as Nick's way he showed to me . So this review is for Pattinson as my top estate agents plus online auctioneers dual business as they run. But also for Nick and the Hexham office as a whole and the good lady boss of it who was very polite and helpful on first contact with them . Kind regards and many thanks to Pattinson and Hexham office staff team .... and to Nick M too.
