GoogleFrom Caroline coming out, to the property completing the sale. Everything went so smoothly and quick with regular updates, the neighbors were shocked how quickly the sale progressed. Can’t thank Caroline, Trinity and all the team enough. Also the charges are really good compared to other agents in the area. I would recommend this friendly team. Thank you WH Brown Selby.

Anne Luby has been amazing from the very beginning. She took the time to arrange regular Teams meetings, which made the whole experience feel much more personal. As a first time buyer, I had absolutely no idea where to start and was a complete novice who felt out of her depth, but Anne guided me through every step of the process.

GooglePoor service from start to finish. Regretted signing the contract pretty much straight away. Took two weeks to even get a photographer out, who told us when he arrived that he had only been contacted 2 days before coming! The advert was poor with incorrect description and floor plan. I had to send it back several times before it was published.
Whilst we had viewings, some were completely pointless, tyre kickers.
They priced the house higher and told us it was a 1% fixed fee. This meant that it was 1% of the initial valuation and not of the final sale price which we hadn’t expected, as sold for 9k less than asking.
They seem to have a high turnover of staff, and are unreliable.
The communication was poor, they didn’t follow up on leads, were not proactive, hardly ever answered the phone, and didn’t seem interested whether the house sold or not.
The sale fell through twice and I asked if they could make it clear it was back on the market due to it falling though and was told no. They only promoted it on their social media when I actually asked them.
When I complained I was promised that communication would improve. It didn’t and the excuse we were given after complaining again was that the contract states they will give weekly updates (at most) so when I emailed and they didn’t respond, despite the urgency because the 1st in the chain were threatening to pull out because of the time it was taking, they didn’t contractually need to reply for a week! Joke.
Once we sold for the third time, we ended up speaking directly with our buyer as there was no liaison between the agent and her or us. If we hadn’t have done that I’m pretty sure we still wouldn’t have completed! On one occasion I emailed asking for the agent to liaise with the 1st in the chain due to the risk of the chain collapsing. They rang our buyer (not what we asked) who didn’t answer, and then emailed me back saying they had left her a message… never heard from them again after that!
Conversely the agent who we bought our new house off was the complete opposite, proactive, always available even at evenings and weekends, and we completed on the purchase in 40 days start to finish. WH BROWN had nothing to do with this, they didn’t even know we had agreed a completion date until we told them as they just didn’t keep in contact with anyone. Sale of our house took over 4 months, which would have taken much longer had it not been for us, our buyer, the other agents involved and the solicitors.
They essentially got paid to advertise our house on Rightmove and book in viewings (which we hosted) Money for old rope and we have learned a valuable lesson. Never use WH Brown and go with an agent who actually cares about selling your house and will go the extra mile to get it over the line.
We submitted a further complaint on completion and were offered £150 ‘goodwill’ gesture’ for the poor communication but WH Brown took no responsibility for anything else, their job was simply to secure us a buyer and in their opinion they did that. All the other stuff wasn’t their problem. They caused us so much extra stress

TrustpilotPLEASE STEER WELL CLEAR!!
Poor communication, false promises from sales, lettings and mortgage services. Started off great but once they've had your money they don't care about resolving any issues. Don't bother with the lifetime membership as you'll have to do all the work yourself. Don't bother with management services for letting a property either, they won't tell you about any problems and they'll let your tenants damage your property and steal from you without any reconciliation measures or compensation. I sold my flat over a year ago and I'm still battling with them and the Zero Deposit scheme to compensate me for my property being stolen and damage that I paid to fix for the new owner out of my own pocket. PLEASE STEER CLEAR, SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE!!

TrustpilotAs a tenant this is the worst rental agency I've ever dealt with - expected more from such a big name
As a tenant this is the worst rental agent I've ever dealt with. 1) Difficult to get in touch with - they hardly ever answer the phone. 2) The property was dirty when we moved in, no inventory provided. 3) The property was managed by Sequence Ltd who have provided a very disappointing service - early on we were told (via a phone call and after several weeks of us asking) to arrange for repair of a maintenance issue ourselves and that this could be deducted off our rent afterwards, and that the landlord had instructed this. We never received the refund, they said because they didn't have records of that instruction. Several staff members had started then left during our tenancy which didn't help (we were there for 6 months). 4) We are now having to contact Tenancy Deposit Scheme to get our deposit back relating to a different issue, mostly due to our inadequate landlord who it seems is trying to claim a random amount of money anywhere he might get away with it (we left the property in a cleaner state than when we arrived to try to avoid any possible excuses for deduction from deposit). Sequence Ltd doesn't appear to know about or be bothered about the law and tenant's rights.

TrustpilotOllie Aston flat inspection
This Morning I had Ollie Aston attend my flat for an annual inspection. He was on time as agreed. He took photos for Landlord and was a very pleasant with his customer communication during the visit. I raised a few questions which I hope to hear back. I wish him the success in his employ and rate 5 star service. Overall have dealt with WHB for 6 years always been of a high standard.

TrustpilotI would not trust these people
I would not trust these people, I emailed them to arrange a viewing on a tenanted property, no contact, after a couple of days I called them to arrange a viewing for same property, straight away the sales person tried steering me to another property instead, but I held firm, they said they would get back to me with an appointment, they never did, it’s now sold. They have preferred investors waiting in the background, other sectors would not get away with it.

From the very beginning, Libby our Mortgage Advisor was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to our needs.

TrustpilotPoor Customer Service
They rang me on Friday 12th of June and left me a voicemail to call them back to organise viewing a property in Upton that wasn’t clearly listed as being owned by Lomond. I rang them back several times and left voicemails only to be ignored, I then followed up with a second email query also to be ignored. After looking at the property its clearly managed by Lomond, so they have likely liaised with them to blacklist me from renting their properties. This is over one ancient paid off &satisfied CCJ.

TrustpilotKeep pestering me despite house selling months ago
Came to our house for a free valuation before putting it on the market. We went with another agent because we felt William H Brown overvalued our house. We told them as soon as we decided that we wouldn’t be going with them. Since then, they have pretty consistently called me from various offices (local/regional etc) asking to co list with the agent we chose, trying to set up an appt with their in house mortgage advisor, asking if we have found anywhere else, asking how our sale is progressing etc. Our house sold in a week and we had an offer accepted on our new house the following week so we have absolutely no need for any input from William h brown. Yet still, three months later, they call me fortnightly to ask how everything is going, despite me asking them repeatedly to remove my details and any data associated with me. They are dogs with a bone who won’t take no for an answer!

TrustpilotUnprofessional
I dealt with William H brown, Holderness road branch as a tenant. Firstly, they tried to scam me into buying home insurance as an essential requirement of the contract. During the tenancy my landlord was lovely and remained in touch directly, so thankfully I didnt have to deal with them. At the end, I was in huge trouble because WH brown's absolute unprofessionalism. Despite multiple calls and requests they failed to provide references for my next agent. I had no where to go for a week due to this delay. It cost me a fortune! Over a month has lapsed but they have done anything about my deposit. When asked they said to get in touch with the lamdlord directly. Whereas they were the ones processing the deposit collection initially. After sorting it with the landlord myself it was over 2 weeks without any further progress to deposit return. Really a shameful service!! Staff and service all pathetic

Its been 5 years since I moved out of a rented property by William H Brown in St Albans and I have not been refunded my holding deposit. I have contacted them severally over the phone and emails and no luck till date. Nothing but radio silence. First I was told the Landlord would be contacted to claim back the £500 or so left after she dubiously claimed damages on the property. They then later pushed it on me to speak chase the landlord to reach an agreement on obtaining my deposit back. I have used a 2026 date on my review because trustpilot doesnt allow you to go all the way back to 2021.

Headingley Branch were fantastic with my recent move. My first contact was with Reiss who was helpful and proactive form the start which set my mind at ease. If he wasnt able to take my call at any time then the other members of the team, Daisy and Lauren, were always able to help. I felt confident that whoever I spoke to was able to give me the correct information and I was kept informed of the need for any further information required from me. Moving house is very stressful but the team at WHBrown made it really easy. Cannot reccomend them enough.

TrustpilotAvoid WH Brown!
Sold my house through W H Brown and they were the worst estate agent I have ever used. Communication was nil, left messages and they didn’t get back at all. Actually went 5 MONTHS with no contact! Sold my house to first viewer for full asking price so they had very little to do.When I complained to head office, they stated the branch had done nothing wrong! Obviously have low standards. Definitely an estate agent to avoid. No wonder they have a poor reputation

TrustpilotUseless, uncommunicative liars who are after your money.
There is a saying that "Buyers are Liars". Well trust me, our Estate Agents handling the sale of our property were without doubt the worst we have ever had in selling any of our previous properties proving that it isn't the buyers that are the liars but the Estate Agents themselves. I won't name individuals but as a company, William H. Brown of Ely were the worst for Communicating to us in the selling of our property. From the first contact where the then manageress came and visited us to suggest a selling price to the end result of us vacating the property was nothing short of disgusting. Considering they were going to be getting paid a couple of grand for selling our property for us, they did nothing. We did get the odd email and phone call trying to dazzle us with percentages and figures why our property wasn't selling but as I said to the individual calling me, stop making pathetic excuses and sell our property. When we first put our property up for sale at a price suggested by the management, one of the staff rang me and suggested that I should drop my price to get more interest! This was a week after we had it up for sale. I very politely told him no. They changed staff like I changed my grundies, every time we went in to the office someone else had left, hopefully to richer pastures. God help any new staff. All they will learn working in that office will be to lie, ignore your customers and spout BS because that's what we had from them, totally and utterly useless staff acting on our behalf.. The Manager who is in situ now was supposed to working on our behalf but was more focused on our buyers than us and even had the nerve to suggest that we moved into rented accommodation, with a wife, dog, cat and me, put all our possessions in to storage just so that our buyers could move in quickly. Quite disgusting behaviour from the "Manager". He even had the gall to tell us that our buyers wanted to move in on the following Monday and that they had their removals team delivering their possessions on the Tuesday. More lies. What a Pratt! We have now been moved out over a week and we have since found out that the buyers still haven't moved in, so what was all that pushing and prompting about putting us under enormous stress? It all points to him wanting the deal sealed so he could get his monthly bonus. Considering what our Solicitors, Hunt & Coombs did for us, the sheer amount of hard, intense work our Conveyancing Team did and the amount of fees they charged us was paltry compared to what we were charged. So to wrap up my review of William H. Brown, Estate Agents, Ely. We were very sorry we ever got involved with them. I would suggest using caution if you are unlucky enough to use them to sell your property because they don't care about you as a customer, just see you as a cash-cow. They will lie to you, ignore your calls and generally mess you about. I would suggest you use any of the other Estate Agents in Ely because to be honest, none of them could ever be as bad as William H. Brown.

TrustpilotDiddled me OUT OF MY LIFE SAVINGS!
They are lying, cheating thieves. They diddled me out of a large portion of my life savings. They do not care about the catastrophic effects of their actions on local hard-working families and community members. They only care about enriching themselves at the expense of others. Do not engage with them and do not go anywhere near the absolute scam of modern auctions, which they orchestrate via third parties as an obvious attempt to distance themselves from legal responsibility and liability for malpractice.

TrustpilotEmma Mackintosh
Review for Emma Mackintosh of William H BrownI recently had the pleasure of working with Emma Mackintosh at William H Brown, and I can confidently say that she went above and beyond in providing an outstanding experience. From the start, Emma was incredibly pleasant to deal with. She exuded professionalism and warmth, making what could have been a stressful process much more manageable. Her approachable nature made every interaction with her smooth and enjoyable, which isn’t something I can say for every professional I’ve dealt with in this field. What truly stood out was how quickly she responded to any queries or concerns I had. Whether it was via email or a phone call, Emma was consistently prompt in providing updates or answering my questions. This level of responsiveness is rare and showed how dedicated she is to ensuring a seamless experience for her clients. What I appreciated most, however, was how Emma dealt with me on a human level rather than just as a customer. She took the time to understand my needs and concerns, showing genuine empathy and care throughout the process. Her ability to connect on a personal level while maintaining professionalism made all the difference. I never felt like just another transaction; Emma truly made me feel valued and respected. In summary, Emma Mackintosh sets a high standard for service at William H Brown. Her pleasant demeanor, quick responsiveness, and human-centric approach make her an asset to the company and a joy to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to people looking for a professional who genuinely cares about her clients.
