Avoid Taylor Wimpey at All Costs: Nightmare New Home Experience Our supposed "dream home" from Taylor Wimpey has quickly turned into a nightmare. Just two months after moving in, we discovered a devastating water leak stemming from a poorly installed shower pipe. The leak, which went undetected for some time, wreaked havoc, dripping through the kitchen ceiling, seeping into the cavity wall, and spreading beneath the flooring. The damage is extensive, affecting kitchen cabinets, skirting boards, the WC, and even the sitting room carpet. The initial response from Taylor Wimpey was shockingly inadequate. Their emergency plumber couldn't even identify the source of the leak, leaving us with water pooling on the floor and, even more terrifying, water seeping into electrical outlets, creating a serious electrocution hazard for my young children. Their lack of urgency was appalling. Despite repeated calls and photographic evidence of the damage and unsafe conditions, they initially scheduled a joint plumber/joiner visit over a month later. It took days of relentless pressure to get them to even stop the leak. And the nightmare doesn't end there. After finally addressing the leak itself, Taylor Wimpey refused to take any responsibility for the extensive damage it caused. They shamelessly declared they wouldn't cover the costs of repairing the flooring, cabinets, skirting, carpets, essentially, the entire ground floor of our brand new home. Their excuse? Essentially, tough luck. This blatant disregard for their shoddy workmanship is infuriating. We bought a new build to avoid these very problems, only to be met with incompetence and dismissive customer service. I’ve been forced to file an insurance claim, meaning I'm now stuck paying the excess, managing the repairs myself, and facing increased premiums. Finding matching kitchen cabinets from their supplier is another added burden. This whole ordeal has been incredibly stressful, especially while caring for two young children. Taylor Wimpey's refusal to acknowledge their responsibility is beyond disappointing. They built this house, they installed the faulty pipe, and they should be held accountable for the damage. At the very least, they should cover my insurance excess and accept third-party liability. I filed a formal complaint, which was met with a dismissive final letter stating they would take no further action. Their complete lack of care and accountability is astounding. Do not make the same mistake we did. Avoid Taylor Wimpey at all costs. They clearly do not stand behind their work and will leave you to deal with the consequences of their substandard construction. Prospective buyers should be warned: Taylor Wimpey’s warranty is clearly not worth the paper it’s written on.
