Incredibly stressful and upsetting experience would never buy from Bovis again. We relied on clear assurances given during the sales process about the nature of the development and neighbouring properties, which heavily influenced our decision to buy our home. After completion we discovered things were not as we had understood. What has been most upsetting is how dismissed we have felt throughout the process. Bovis have repeatedly relied on contractual wording and the position that communities can change over time, rather than properly address the fact that specific verbal assurances were given during the sales process which influenced our decision to buy. Despite neighbours also reporting that they were given similar assurances during their own sales process, the situation has effectively come down to Bovis' word against ours. This has been incredibly upsetting and has left us feeling as though we are being accused of either lying or misremembering what we were clearly told. Overall a deeply upsetting and stressful experience. If you are buying from Bovis make sure absolutely everything discussed during the sales process is confirmed in writing.

The sales team, initially Sophie then Amber Luxton, have done a GREAT job so far- always responsive, friendly, very competent and helpful. Amber has given him/us support and clarity throughout what could have been an overwhelming process. It’s so exciting for him to be so close to getting his own home- not something he imagined being able to do without this shared-ownership scheme. We’re sorry Amber has had to move to another Bovis site this week and will miss sharing the joy of him getting the keys on completion…..

Bad after sales customer service. A year in and I’m still fighting to get the repairs done I need doing. After raising concerns of the flooring upstairs where they had cut holes they fobbed me off and a short time later my foot went through those holes. My en-suite shower was taken out and put back in 5 times, two weeks without an operational shower and they also put tiles on that were a different colour and tried to tell me I was seeing things. The roof has had to be repaired. I say this very loosely as it’s been bodged. My back garden floods and I’m awaiting the work to be completed. The kitchen sink keeps going rusty and it has been replaced twice. Everything they use in the houses are cheapest of the cheap. Managers and site managers treat you like you know nothing, then they give you a bit of hope by having someone else get involved before then treating you exactly the same. I have had to submit a claim to NHBC and also raise a complaint with the new homes ombudsman. Hate to say it as the area is lovely, but do not buy with bovis/vistry.

We were promised our dream home, but what we received was an unfinished house with 98 defects identified by our independent snagging professional. What should have been an exciting and positive experience has instead been incredibly disappointing and stressful.

Extremely disappointing experience with Bovis Homes and the Smooth Move scheme.
My partner and I entered into Bovis Homes’ Smooth Move scheme because we believed it would make the process of selling our current home and purchasing our new Bovis home straightforward and secure.
We followed the process in good faith and marketed our existing property. We were fortunate enough to receive an offer at asking price and had a buyer ready to proceed.
However, on the very same day that we received the offer on our home, we were informed by Bovis that the plot we had been progressing with had been sold to a private buyer. This left us in an incredibly difficult position.
We had a buyer for our home but suddenly had nowhere to move to. Despite having entered into the Smooth Move process specifically to avoid this kind of situation, we have now been left with no option but to take our house back off the market and completely change our plans.
This has also meant having to let down our buyer, who had been relying on the sale progressing.
The whole purpose of Smooth Move, from our understanding, was to provide reassurance and make the process of moving home easier. Instead, our experience has caused us a huge amount of stress, disappointment and uncertainty, and potentially left us facing costs that we would never have incurred had this situation not arisen.
What is particularly frustrating is that we trusted Bovis to manage the process properly, only to be left without the new home we were expecting to purchase after already finding a buyer for our own.
We are extremely disappointed with how this has been handled and, following this experience, we would not consider purchasing a Bovis home again.
I would strongly encourage anyone considering the Smooth Move scheme to make sure they fully understand what happens if the property they are expecting to purchase is no longer available, particularly before committing to selling their existing home.
A very stressful and disappointing experience from a company we expected much better from.
