Of all of the estate agents I encountered all over the country, Mel Hawkins at Oakwood Homes was the most refreshing breath of fresh air. Mel was clear, efficient, attentive and thorough. Within minutes she had booked me in for a viewing, and responded to a slurry of emails I sent her so promptly that I was bowled over, and had all the information I needed within half an hour. It was absolutely remarkable and head and shoulders above the eight other agents I was dealing with at the time. I would absolutely recommend Oakwood to anybody looking to rent property in the area.

I recently moved to the area from Australia with my family and contacted a lot of real estate agencies before our arrival. Katie-Lilly was the ONLY real estate agent who wanted to help us. Katie-Lilly was unreal. She explained the whole process of renting a property given our situation and always sent through emails with available properties catering to our budget and requirements. Everyone at Oakwood was amazing, right from the start. You get the feeling that the team care about the properties and the people they deal with. They were happy to talk through things and answer questions in detail, and were knowledgable about the properties viewed. When I narrowly missed out on a flat, Adam Spickett kept me in mind and was very helpful and responsive. Debbie Thwaites was brilliant and communicative as as we went through the various stages, helping to keep up the pace. We are delighted to work with the team at Oakwood homes, they are so kind and helpful and really make us feel looked after through the rental process. Firstly, a huge thank you to Jessye who was so patient and kind through our viewings and allowed us to take our time looking at the property and also got all our questions answered. We came to view with our little children and she was so kind and pleasant to them too. In the office, everyone in the team, from Kate to Alex and Tobias took extra time to chat with us and made sure all the details were covered and we had everything we needed. We had tried selling our public house in Margate through several different vendors and even tried selling at auction but to no avail, then the pandemic hit. We had been recommended to use Oakwood Homes by a friend and he gave us Andrew Dickinson's number. Selling a public house during a pandemic which had severely impacted the hospitality trade seemed to us an impossible task . Andrew was very confident and explained his marketing strategy to us, he reassured us that with the correct targetted marketing that he could sell it for us. After it was advertised we had several viewings and had two offers (all this during the pandemic!) We cannot thank Andrew enough for his professionalism and his expertise within property markets. Selling our pub in a pandemic, we still can't believe it. We would thoroughly recommend Andrew and Oakwood homes to anyone wanting to sell,buy or rent either commercial or residential properties. I came to Oakwood Homes after having a few negative experiences with other Estate agents, and was blown away within their incredible customer service. From the first phone call I had with them, I felt heard and valued. From viewing the property, to referencing, and then finally moving in was seamless. I am now fully moved into my property and couldn't be happier. I want to send a special thank you to Daisy, Maddie, Alex, Amy and Lorraine who made what can be quite a stressful experience, extremely positive. I would recommend Oakwood homes to anyone, whether they were buying or renting, selling or letting. They keep you informed throughout the whole process, so that you can feel at ease. Oakwood have found tenants for my properties very successfully for many years and have always found good tenants. I have now handed over all my properties on a full management basis and very pleased with the service their rental department provide, very professional and all are excellent communicators. Also rents received by Oakwood are transferred to me on the day they receive each rental payment. I would not hesitate to recommend Oakwood to any Landlord looking for an Agent. I would mention a member of staff as being particularily good, but that would be very difficult as they are all equally as good, so thank you all.

Kate and Amy have been absolutely incredible from start to finish. So much patience with us, promptly answered any questions we had about the property and made us feel welcomed and valued as prospective tenants. Extremely friendly service. Awful company. I would urge all Landlords/Ladies to take your custom elsewhere! They are not to be trusted on any level. Please beware!!! The lettings manager recently married the director of the company, therefore there is clearly a conflict of interest as there is nowhere to go if you are unhappy but the Ombudsman! Which, I didn't find out until too late, you will soon learn the Ombudsman is funded by the lettings companies they 'regulate'! Oakwood are correct that my complaint was not unheld and I learned what they are like the hard way.... I urge you to not do the same. Thanet Council will offer you better rates, service and peace of mind. Please feel free to respond again, Oakwood, I am more than happy to screenshot correspondence between us!

Tenants please watch out!!! Not only did Oakwood homes not check that our Landlord was legally compliant, which has caused us no end of problems and seriously disrupted the first 2 months of our tenancy, Oakwood homes also appear to have forgotten the 'Duty of Care' that they owe to tenants, irrespective of the fact that they can no longer charge tenants because of the Tenant Fees Act. The staff, especially Lorraine are great, but the senior Managers and Directors need to seriously review their policies for taking Landlords onto their books so as to ensure that those Landlords are legally compliant. Imagine how much better (& safer) the world would be for tenants knowing there is a letting agent who actually does put tenants (safety) first and properly vet Landlords? After all, us tenants are stringently vetted, so why are the Landlords not stringently vetted as well? Or does the money you get from Landlords override your duty of care to tenants? Until Oakwood homes remembers the duty of care that they owe tenants then they should change their logo to read "Putting (non-compliant) Landlords First"...

The lettings team are incredibly helpful for first time private tenants; Lorraine was an integral part of us getting what we really wanted and made sure we understood every step, Leonie (pre-maternity leave) was lovely and bubbly which made it feel less intimidating when house checks were due and we cannot fault accounts which have been seamless. We have been renting through Oakwoods for almost 2 years now. Sometimes contact is a little slow since Leonie's mat-leave when asking about issues or whatever else but nothing too dire. The only thing we would question is the deposit requested for a pet which is half one month's rent which is 4 x what we actually paid to adopt our two cats!

Would highly recommend Oakwood Homes Letting Agents. I have lived in one of their properties for almost 6 months now and nothing is too much trouble for them. Kate was fantastic in dealing with my tenancy sign up. My property manager Toni is also brilliant and is very quick to respond.
