GoogleI only have positive things to say of Stanford Estates. The service I've received from Chris and Wendy has been very professional and helpful. They both took me to see properties matching my criteria, not wasting my time like some estate agents are wont to do. I was kept up to date about properties I was interested in and not hounded to put offers in. Would highly recommend.

GoogleI have let and sold my property through Stanford Estates and the experience on both sides has been great. During the selling process they were friendly, efficient and handled pretty much everything for me, taking away the stress and hassle - in particular Michaela who was great at getting things done quickly and professionally. Thank you. I would definitely use them again.

GoogleI don't like leaving poor reviews of companies, look at my history of reviews and you'll see that's the case. However, the letting agency industry really makes me cross. I did everything in my power to ensure that the property I vacated via this agency was delivered back at the standard I arrived at, and was careful to communicate my early exit of the tenancy agreement with Stanford Estates employees. The fact I had £1000 deducted from my deposit is not an issue - I agreed to the remarketing fee - what makes me really annoyed is the fact I had to wait over 2 weeks for a decision on how much money would be returned to me. It's my damn money, I was a great tenant, how dare you hold onto my funds for so long for no good reason. And how dare you charge £900 as a reletting fee in the first place! That's an outrageous fee that I should never have accepted in the first place. I urgently needed to leave London and accepted these terms but I accepted with great annoyance. I have no doubt Zoopla and RightMove costs a bit, but here's an idea. Cover the cost in your initial fees to tenants and landlords. Don't wack it on on the end and punish tenants when things don't work out over no control of their own. Just a suggestion! 2 stars as Malcolm Goes seems like a nice bloke.
We don't normally reply to the reviews left by our customers but in this instance we feel it would be helpful to provide some context. In December 2018 you moved into a property rented through ourselves on a 12 month tenancy. Three months later you expressed your desire to terminate the tenancy early as you felt you had made a mistake moving to London. Whilst you were contractually obligated to pay rent until December 2019, we understand circumstances can change and will always look to find a solution that suits both Tenant and Landlord. With this in mind we negotiated on your behalf for your contract to be terminated with the Landlord, this was agreed subject to costs being covered, and we found a new tenant promptly for you. You agreed to cover the cost the landlady had already paid at the start of the tenancy to replace you as a tenant. You could have paid the Rent until the end of the term which would have cost you far more than paying to have the property re-advertised and for us to go through a new process of finding a new tenant. You were happy too accept those terms as it saved you thousands in rent you were contractually obliged to pay. In the last few months the Tenant Fees Act has now confirmed through legislation that our best practice procedure for tenants wishing to break a contract early is now considered acceptable best practice by law. Regarding the deposit; the time frame for which monies are to be returned is outlined within the tenancy agreement and is also a matter of legislation. I would advise you to take the time to read the Landlord Tenant Act, particularly the details which clearly outline the way deposits are handled. The law was changed in 2004 to ensure that unscrupulous behaviour by either Landlords or Tenants was handled better and with fairer procedures put in place for this. This time allows for a check out report to be produced, the landlord to asses what deductions may or may not be justified and conversations with yourself to get it agreed. The monies are held as a security deposit against the property so whilst we appreciate it is your money, it also there to cover damages you may have caused to the flat during your stay. While you may have been happy with the way you left the flat, the Landlord had equal opportunity to confirm the same. We endeavour to complete this process in as short a time as possible, but we are tied to a. the law and b. the response time of the parties involved. Hopefully this helps clear up the sequence of events and elevates any confusion you may have had over timings and fee's. We'll pass on the thanks to Malcolm as we too agree he is a very nice bloke.

Michaela was excellent, handling each step along the way, from price negotiation, pushing solicitors when they needed a nudge, all the way through to helping me set up a proposal with my now fiancé on completion day! : ) You can't ask for much more than that!

Hi Meenal, Following our visit to your property, we spoke on the phone at length about the work required and the different options to prepare it for a tenancy. You suggested you were looking for us to take on all of the renovations works, to which we said the works were probably too extensive for us to take full control of so you would need to be making decisions and be around to approve the works, particularly as you weren’t a current client so we hold no monies on account or experience of a past business relationship. This was followed up with an email to the address you provided us at the time of booking, so I’m sorry if you didn’t receive this or the figures quoted weren’t to your liking, but there was most certainly a follow-up.
